This one is a great addition to the book shelf, you all know how to use basic java under J2ME but this book clarifies nicely why you are actually doing it the way you are. Also, it introduces nice advanced concepts which regular java programmers might not have come across before.

If you are young single and have no children you obviously value your work very highly. Marriage is not too bad, your work is still important but your wife takes away from your work slightly. I belive the biggest change comes when your children are born, after which your whole life changes. You no longer live for yourslef but ever decision is based on the children. They are the most important thing in your life, work is nothing....!

The Red Queen - named after a theory which is itself named for the 'Alice' character, who must run as fast as she can simply to keep pace with the world around her - fascinated from beginning to end.
Looking at the evolution of sex, it is filled with intriguing facts, remarkable examples, and frequently alarming revelations. From why the peacock has that remarkable tail (it's probably to do with sexy sons) to why polygamy benefits females rather than males, the book is a real eye-opener.
Once you've learned the secret of the lek, the local disco will never seem the same again. And, given that a man's testicular size is evidence that neither he nor his partner evolved for true monogamy, you may not find this book terribly reassuring.
Polygyny, polyandry, incest, infanticide, and group-bonking bonobos: it may leave you thinking that, in comparison to even some of our closest relatives, we humans have very conservative sex lives indeed. And we may only have started doing it at all so that we don't fall prey to parasites!
A great read, and real incentive to read anything else available by Matt Ridley.

WiFi usage must have really taken off recently. I was visiting Canada only nine months ago, visiting an old girlfriend who I had met while at University. The purpose of the trip was to meet her family and spend thanksgiving with them.
I arrived in Toronto airport with my trusty 17' TiBook and wanted to check my email but couldn't find any open AP's. Well I thought to my self, "fuck you asshole Canadians", rebooted my laptop into Gentoo and opened up Kismet, one of the private nets was very hight traffic and it only took a matter of hours to pick up enough packets to figure out their password. I had the time while I was waiting to be picked up, they were caught up in bad weather. So anyway I was in the network, which was mostly running Windows.
I was amazed at what I found, it looked as though I was into British Airways private network, there were some machines that I could not access but the majority were unpatched Win2k servers with IIS running. At this moment I felt a slight tingling in my pants and a couple of seconds later a full blown erection. I considered for a moment what havoc I could cause, I decided it would be funny to steal these whore chekout sluts' hotmail passwords and send fake emails to their boyfriends. I'm jelous and if I being a GNU/Linux hippy can't have girls, these football team captins should not either.
This is how I executed my evil plan:
ARP poisioning the netowrk so that whenever somone requests hotmail.com it goes to one of the unpatched IIS Win2k servers.
Using the double unicode decode vunerability, I changed the defualt page to a copy of hotmail.com but with a little ASP script which dumped usernames and passwords to a file then redirect them to the real hotmail.
Spent the next few hours sennding "I FOUND A NEW BF U SUXOR" emails to everyone in their address books.
An added bonus was that these Win2k servers had publicly accesable IP's so I jotted them down and when I got home set up SPAM sites up on their ghey boxes, just search google you will find many stories about when they found out! OMG LOL WTF!!!!1

Also, it introduces nice Python concepts in a clear and easy way which scripters might not have come across before.
I was vary suprised that there wasn't a huge uproar when this was coverd on/. earlier. If they had not released the source would buy their products again, to be honest I certainly would because they are the cheapest. If you would not, does their decision to release the source change your mind?

The world of Westeros, the setting for A Song of Ire and Fire, contains the perfect balance of realism and magic that has been missing in the genre for some time (are you listening Forgotten Realms editors?). We find moral ambiguity and the constant and real threat of an untimely demise, even for the most important characters. The characters are well-nuanced, with real motives and human passions. Magic is reserved for the few and, when it manifests, it does so in incredible displays of power.
I labeled Martin's prose "raw" and "reckless" because he does not appear to be afraid of any theme or issue and he turns many conventional fantasy elements on their collective heads. Martin, quite simply, is the best fantasy author since Moorcock.
A warning: don't buy this book unless you are prepared to purchase the entire series. The books are, at once, compelling and addictive page-turners that will leave you clamoring for more.
What happened to laissez faire ideals, free market and all that. Microsoft is argueably the most successful company evar, if the DOJ takes action to break up Microsoft or fine them I could see this as the ideals of capitalism breaking down.
People would nolonger aspire to become as rich and successful as possible? Is being greedy a crime? If you were Bill Gates would you open source Windows or would you buy a few more boats!
I have a similar setup I use for accessing my warez/porn/movies/mp3 downloading server. It works nicely I map a drive onto the local machine and use it to access the files from the living room and pump output into the television.;-)
