The article misses an important point; When a user installs an application (as they have to do, in cases such as Nero or iTunes when the app doesn't come preinstalled) the user already knows what it does. Did you read the article? Do you truly understand whats going on?

Many clients support the "style of distributed trackerless system". However, BitComent does not recognize the private flag in the torrent. When the private flag is on, it means that the client must turn off the "style of distributed trackerless system" feature of that torrent; thus only users conencted to that tracker can download.

Its not about supporting the DHT feature, its about supporting the ability to turn it off.

I never said it wasn't major. I'm saying that you can't rely on statistics like this. Google is major, but EVERY SINGLE INTERNET USER IN THE WORLD doesn't use google. (It maybe very close, but EVERYONE?) And since there are people who don't use Google, even their statistcs will be off in either direction. Margin of error. Until someone finds out what every single internet user in the world is using as a webbrowser, non of these statistcs can really be trusted.

Google still isn't major. I know people who are using yahoo or alltheweb or whatever for their searches. Truth is, no one can really tell us what the exact percentage that Firefox or Internet Explorer market share has gone up. Companies can bombard us with statistics, but no one knows what everyone is using. Theres simply too many sites.

I understand your point, but I'm trying to make one of my own as well: Each site can only tell us about THEIR visitors. To say "Oh everyone on the internet searches for britney spears using a command line based webbrowser" is impossible to say.

My mother and father (no, I don't live with them) have recently switched to Firefox on my suggestion and have thanked me for that suggestion.
