even if they did decide to sue them they would only have "defeated" one spammer
Defeating a spammer would be VERY significant if you hit the right person. Despite what most people think, a huge percentage of the spam circulating the globe comes from very few people.
...many companies that offer downloadable ring tones are guilty of 'harvesting' your phone number.
I find it amusing that as I read this article, Slashdot is displaying banner ads for "49 cent ringtones and graphics!", "Free Nokia Ringtones", and "RingtoneJukebox.com."
GPS has just confirmed that we have, in fact, collided with France. More at 11, after our continuing coverage of the war between Linuxia and Microsoftistan.
Coming soon, collect all 260 trading cards featuring low res webcam screenshots! I want the shiny foil card featuring Darth Vader punching Jar Jar in the mouth.
Now it's like, "That's too much effort, lets toss some CGI in there for this scene."
I don't believe that creative directors like the Wachowski brothers are being lazy...did you ever consider that the only way to make a convincing fight scene with 100 clones was to do it in CG?
We all know that Walmart is the fastest to embrace new technology...they even have these High-tech DVD's that remove the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen!
I agree that new and "genre breaking" software rarely sells as much as it's tried and true competitors, but I don't believe it is for the reason you've cited. I worked at several retail stores in my youth, and they sorted software by alphabetical order (Software ETC.) or by "Here's an open spot! Throw it there!" (that would be Target, bless their hearts.)
One of the biggest reasons a game sells well is marketing: You wanna know why the latest and greatest shooter was such a blockbuster? It had an ad in every magazine, and a display in every store window.
It's by no means economical, but I found the best solution for my fairly large collection (well over 1000 discs) was CaseLogic 200 cd folders. They aren't THAT expensive, fit well on a bookcase, and if you're the obsessive compulsive type, you can sort them alphabetically for easy access. For all those junk cds I access once in a million years, I throw on a spindle.
I saw the name "Kristian", and for a second there I thought they were talking about a girl! On Slashdot!
That confused me too, until I remembered I was sucked into a time rift and woke up a year later. Welcome to the future, brother!
I HATE backseat drivers, the last thing I want is my local governer riding shotgun and telling me how fast I can go.

He's actually only going to have 126 usable participants...then one for network, and one for broadcasting!
These slashdot kids talk wack, yo.
Why design a whole new OS when we have Windows ME??? Just don't let them open attachments in Outlook and all will be well.

The prices must be out of this world.
