There is more to going to Mars then just using nuclear power. ie producing rocket fuel on mars, finding out how to send people on a 6 month trip in 0 G, finding a rocket ship with enough lift capacity, bringing enough food/supplies for multilple weeks/months, creating a suitable living environment etc...
Robots are suitable for now because they don't require any of the things I have just mentioned, and they can still pull off most of the science a Human can.
You think we have problems with robots, wait till humans go there.
No under 18 year old would ever bother jerking off to low quality cell phone porn, so I don't see why that particular industry should be regulated on a cellular network.
AOL started out in the dial up industry which from what I can tell has gone right down the shitter for them, however they still managed to merger with Time-Warner before they figured out. Now what have they got? Certainly dial up won't get them anywhere, and the broadband service they offer is just a piece of seemingly annoying proprietary software. Where can they go from here ?
Actually it has a lot to do with what engineers can and can't do technologically. Flying cars of any practical everyday use would be very difficult to build, wouldn't be very economical, would be extremely noisy etc... The reason we dont see flying cars or jet packs is because they aren't economically feasible.
Although this is sort of off topic, the most over hyped technological event ever had to have been Y2K. How did this ever get so over-hyped ? Surely tech experts could have figured out that nothing would happen. Was this hype attributed to naive tech experts, the media or what ?
Why not just create CD players with proprietary audio-out jacks that aren't compatible with computers. Also ban companies from creating
newmusicformatCD-rom drives which support the new CD format. If users can't put music on their computers, wouldn't this eliminate the problem of music piracy substantially ?
Correct me if im wrong but won't most jobs such as sysadmins, web developers, security professionals, game developers and small scale contract workers still remain ? I mean, isn't it kind of hard to outsource a web developer/sys admin for a local university to some guy in India ? To me it seems as though there will still be a good core of IT jobs still available, just not the high-scale development jobs for large companies.
Methanol is one of the most toxic liquids around. Why wouldn't NEC develope an ethanol based fuel cell which could potentially run on vodka or rubbing alcohol ? Does one less carbon molecule produce that much more electricity ?

You wouldnt sell out for 100 million dollars ??

DDoS is not a noun, kinda hard to sue a verb don't you think ?

Nothing new here. I challenge any Slashdot user to come up with one famous geek who knows how to dress well (not with the aid of a stylist).
What if they used windows ? there would be more robots crashing then cars that are built by them !
Isn't this aircraft basically the same thing as in the movie "6th day" ?
Flashing my dual 2.0 ghz g5 hasn't gotten me laid yet, I guess I was wrong !
Just type in "weapons of mass destruction" and hit "im feeling lucky", a windows error screen pops up with a few funny Bush bashing statements.
Is scientific america feeling the effects of being slashdotted ?
Then I would have to find a new way to make obscene derogatory passes at highly attractive women.
Im pretty sure they dont have CG advanced enough to make Bill Gates look like hes doing a physical activity

For that much money I would expect better than a 15inch LCD, maybe a 21inch ?

Isn't IBM using Linux on the majority of their server lines? Of course Microsoft is going to downplay their fastest emerging
Just curious but is tera operation the same as teraflop ???

If its anything as 'fair and balanced' as Fox News, I sure know ill be on board.
France and other countries have had to suffer long enough using english vocabulary for tech related terminology.

Actually if you drink methanol you will die in matter of seconds.
The last thing schools need are wireless networks let alone access to confidential information via a wireless network.
