  1. Helping republicans ? on Widespread Use of Hydrogen May Hurt Ozone Layer · · Score: 2, Funny

This is quite possibly the only environmental study in the history of modern science which may actually help the republicans.

  2. A Credibility Nightmare on Foundstone Shoe On Other Foot · · Score: 1

This is like a firefighter getting busted for arsen, it just doesn't look good.

  3. Will they still be behind Intel ? on Apple to Announce the Power Mac G5 at WWDC? · · Score: 2, Interesting

Intel has 3GHZ+ chips out these days. Thats double what the new Mac would have. I know clock speed isn't everything but at a certain point wouldn't you want clock speed over architecture ?

  4. Look at the CIA website on IT at the CIA · · Score: 0, Troll

If you goto the CIA website and look under the careers section, they want people with WINDOWS experience. I think that sums up there lack of adaptivity.

  5. Hacking is for COMPUTERS on Is the Seeking of Lost Skills/Arts a Hacking Analog? · · Score: -1, Troll

I can't stand people who say 'hacking' is learning or exploring. Hacking is breaking into an electronic system, case closed. It's not baking bread, painting, building a go-cart, picking a lock or exploring.

  6. Yet another example of government... on Resume Spamming Creates Storage, Legal Snags · · Score: 2, Insightful

This is yet another example of bureaucracy getting in the way of productivity. Hopefully the government will reverse this law, but we all know how long it takes to get federal laws passed which don't benefit special interest groups, or help politicians.

  7. Useless Product on Have You Seen This Segway? · · Score: 0, Flamebait

You have to be a real lazy SOB to have to have your ass dragged around sidewalks by some expensive over the top scooter. Sure its a cool invention but the jagg hole who invented it surely must have realized that there is no market for it.

If you want to commute a short distance to work ride a bike, if you want to move on a sidewalk, WALK !!! And if you want to make an argument for disabled people, wheelchairs are a far better solution.

  8. Another Feeble Attempt By The Government !! on Congressional Anti-Piracy Caucus Formed · · Score: 1

The United States needs to take the initiative and form an international coalition against piracy. By simply concentrating on domestic incidences, the government is failing to block 95% of the other pirated media which is downloaded from international servers. And because MILLIONS of Americans download illegally obtained media, from either foreign or domestic sources, how can the united states government possibly stop it ??

The U.S. Government should have prepared for this years in advance instead of waiting to make some makeshift committee.

  9. Why not Online Documentation ? on PHP and MySQL Web Development, 2nd Edition · · Score: 5, Insightful

You dont need a book to learn PHP and MySQL. There are plenty of tutorials out there for interfacing php and mysql in addition to all of the documentation the websites will provide. For any coders who already know a thing or two about coding, the book is a waste of money.

  10. Progressive Step on World's Most Powerful Laser · · Score: 1

Its good to see that government is trying to do something about easing its reliance on fossil fuels, albeit not very much. To bad high yield nuclear fusion power plants are still years ahead of our time.

  11. Re:All i want on 60G Nomad Zen vs. The iPod · · Score: 1

The HD size does matter ! Tonnes of people use these things for storing files. Also, people like to copy files directly from CD's in the form of a wav file. With 60 gigs of HD space thats 100 full CD's compared to 50 for the ipod.

  13. Spend Your Money Wisely on ISS Crew Returns in Soyuz Capsule · · Score: 2, Insightful

NASA spends almost $470 million dollars just on one launch ! Just think about what of research you could do with that money !

NASA needs to learn how to manage their money and build a new economical reusable space craft before they start wasting ridiculous amounts of money on a floating money waster.

  14. Yet another useless tech product on Mementos as Document Retrieval Keys · · Score: 1

If this product is designed to help people remember what they have on their hard drive, what happens when they loose the physical 'key' which is used to access it ? These same people are probably 2 times as likely to forget their physical key then forget about their data. This, in my opinion, renders the product as useless eye candy.

  15. Re:How about a BOOK? on Free Comic Day! · · Score: 2, Insightful

95 percent of children these days don't read anything and don't have the desire to read a book. Comic books are a great tool to help them transition into real literature. And even if its not true literature at least they are reading something !

  16. Inspiring parents on Free Comic Day! · · Score: 1

Hopefully this will inspire parents to pick up something for the children to read instead of having them play video games or watch T.V. My guess is that it won't do a thing.

I should clarify, im not saying the entire constitution is out of date, most of it is still relevant, im saying the second amendment is out out date.

i.e. I really dont think it is neccesary for civilians to carry assault rifles. There are other ways to protect yourself or overthrow a government.

  21. Hazard From Battlebots on Robot Hall of Fame · · Score: 1

Yes battlebots aren't really robots more than they are just remote control cars with some lame weapon slapped on the front end, but, clearly Hazard was and is the best BattleBot in the history of the sport.

You may argue Nightmare or Toro but lets be honest, Hazard was in a league of its own. Sure it was of a basic lame wedge spinner design but that thing could take down a 2 tonne buffalo if it had to.

I vote Hazard to be in the robot hall of fame!!

  22. Fun to demo, useless to purchase on Unreal II Demo Released · · Score: 1

Yes Unreal Tournament 2003 was an above average game, but Unreal 2 really doesn't look worth purchasing.

The majority of the people that play these types of games simply buy them for the multi player aspect and Unreal 2 doesn't really look like it
has anything special to offer which would compensate for the lack of that multi player dynamic.

I say hold onto your time/money and save it for the upgrade you will be needing before buying Doom 3.

  23. Not going to happen on High Density CDs · · Score: 2, Interesting

It seems as though a new data recording standard comes out every week. Until all major computer and hardware manufacturers agree on a single new standard, all of these new data recording technologies are just going to be niche products like the Iomega zip drive.

  24. Not in Holleywood on 3D "Crystal Ball" Monitors · · Score: 2, Interesting

Holleywood will never adopt this technology, maybe however the military would. To store a complete 3d movie with even semi-realistic images, it would require thousands of terabytes of storage. Movies would also never come out in theaters (Therefore eliminating that market potential) unless the public would be interested in walking around a dome room bumping into each other and scrambling to get a good view.
