They made a WAN using wireless technology. Big fucking deal. And don't say that 'they are in a third world country so it's a big deal'. It isn't about money when it comes to technology, it is about brains, it doesn't always require money to be smart. I'm sure everybody I know makes more money than most people in Afghanistan and not a single one of them could do this, so money makes people dumb as far as I can tell.
When are people going to realize that making a big deal about what country a person is from when they do something is a big reason for xenophobia. All humans have the same genes and therefore the same ability to do the same exact thing. It shouldn't matter if you are from California or Zimbabwe.
We bought a new panasonic microwave that would kill my wi-fi when it was running. The magnetron was faulty, so I returned it.
After that I decided to never buy appliances from newegg. Not their fault, but 20 dollars shipping to get it, then 40 to send it back... paying sales tax would have been cheaper by far.
I don't understand what happened here. He was born in Thailand. Lived there for 35 years. Moved to the United States. Lived there for 30 years. During that time he posted a blog that if he was in Thailand when he posted it, he would have gotten in trouble. Later, he traveled to Thailand for a medial procedure (wtf can he get done in Thailand that he can't get done in the US, maybe a brain transplant?).
Is there part of the medical paperwork where it asks for your blog posts in the past 10 years? Was he on a 'blog watch list' and apprehended as he entered the country?
There is part of the story that is being left out, what I think is the most important part.
Chrome is significantly faster on my Linux Mint/XP dual boot system with a P4 2.4 GHz (non hyperthreading) with 512MB RAM.
I don't know how Opera could be an improvement over Chrome. Chrome launches almost instantly, and browsing is extremely fast with FlashBlock and AdBlock.
What do they mean Illegal Information? Information that is false? Information that is true, but could cause panic? Information that is retrieved by illegal means such as the wikileaks type information?
Unless they make a list of what is illegal so people know what type of information will be censored, they will have the ability to censor anything they want.
I think the point is that there is no true "organization of Anonymous" people. There may be 10 members, there may be 10 million members. Some may want to hurt Sony, some may not want to. So nobody can truly say whether anonymous does or doesn't do anything. When terrorist organizations with true leaders attack somebody, there is always someone to speak them.
If anonymous has leaders, they aren't anonymous. If they have a list of members, they aren't anonymous. So either they are a organization named "Anonymous" that is not anonymous, or they are anonymous and therefore not a true organization. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organization
To put it another way. Slashdot allows you to post as Anonymous, does that mean they are an organization and when somebody posts as Anonymous are they speaking for others?
Unless the summary is mistaken, it's 250 gigabyte cap, not 250 gigabit. That is the same as my standard cable. I use what I think to be unlimited internet, and usually use less than 100 gb a month.
That is a pretty big mistake to say, is it 250 Gbit or Gbyte?
If the government sends a letter to your email host and say 'give me access to this guys email' and the email host says yes, no laws were broken. At that point you are asking what email providers have the best privacy agreements that may say no to government requests.
Also, where does 180 days come from? Do you not have access to a pop3 client? Is there a law I'm unaware of that says it forwards to the government email system after 180 days of idle time on the server? I am so confused!
So any office laser mouse is as good as any high end gaming mouse? Or, as the summary says, are they saying their 80 dollar mouse with a frikin JOYSTICK on the side is as good as the gaming mouse? It has 18 (tiny) buttons multiplied by 64 modes for a total of 3072 commands.
The metalocity (which when I search google tries to come back with some heavy metal stuff) software doesn't even make sense how it works so I can't compare my mouse.
Banks have the same character limit as regular users, plus if they are talking to 'text banking custs' don't you think hey should talk the same language?
Between phones and different computers I currently have 10 different items off my internet connection, how would the ISP know that? Are they running IPv6 with each device using their own public IP? Are they going to be using their own routers locked to specific mac address and preventing you from buying your own?
Does my ISP know when I watch a youtube video that it is going to a desktop or a laptop or an iPad? It doesn't seem like they should be able to tell that.
You can pay me. I am the most ethical person in the world, and I promise that giving me lots and lots of money will get you on that list or any others that you want.
Send cash only because credit cards and banks are unethical so I don't trust them.
I've always had a question about why satellite is reliable when other forms of communication are down. Yes, it goes straight to the satellite bypassing connections that may be cut on the ground, however, doesn't it come back down to the satellite data center or whatever, then travel over a wire? Are we supposed to assume that satellite internet always routes through a neutral country with no way of cutting off the services?

Yes, a modern 6 core 3GHz processor runs around 1GHz... like Road Runner running around Wile E. Coyote.
I'm assuming the benefit of this would be to use the Kindle store, but are there books you can get from Amazon that you can't get from B&N?
Using the epub (and PDF) format, it seems to be a lot more open, I know the libraries here support the Nook but not the Kindle because of it's format.
I understand the android market being cool on the NOOKColor, but on the eink screen, I can't think of many apps working well.

My head is going to explode, maybe if I had 140 tabs with pagest explaining why somebody needed 140 tabs I would understand why 140 tabs makes sense.

NO CAPS?
I had more to say but slashdot is obviously not free... it says no yelling on the internet!

There are more elevators in my office building than robots, does that mean if we had a war there it would be the elevator war?

Seriously, Thunderbolt? Is there a nerd name for this? I seriously don't want to say that word, it sounds a little pretentious.
Thunderbolt: As fast as lightning and as loud as thunder!
It was 1760 back in December, does that mean 44 have died since then? Are they sure they aren't using Xbox 360s?
Banks have the same character limit as regular users, plus if they are talking to 'text banking custs' don't you think hey should talk the same language?
Computers are very delicate, yes, if you put a huge load on top of your macbook pro (just like other laptops), it will be crushed.
Stop sitting on your computers people!

WTF does everybody think the pledge of allegiance means when it says
".. and to the republic for which it stands..."

Where was Windows ME?
Also, he should have put Microsoft Bob on and we would finally know if it worked with Windows 7.
They were 'created' on windows 3.0 as it was the first to support program groups, and never recreated unless I missed something.
Same here. Does that mean beta is finally as fast as the dev version or did they do something in beta 10 that wasn't in dev 10?
