Sony has always had problem with quality control. Second, Microsoft is new to the game with it's first console rollout. No suprise that it's first generation of units had issue.
And yes, Nintendo SHOULD have used DVD drives in the GC to begin with at launch. It would have further reduced the cost.
DVD drive hardware can be bought off the shelf...cheaply. But, designing a disk drive from the ground up is going to cost the consumer a lot more.
What Nintendo should have done is stuck with DVD hardware with a slight modification. Just spin the disk backwards when playing games. It's kinda hard to pirate games when the spiral of the disk is inverted. But at least the drive could play back DVDs too.
I own a dot-com and as the only technical person responsible for the 7 servers needed to run the site and it's automated delivery systems, I've got to find out about any problems, before my customers/suppliers do; no matter where I am, especially when I'm: camping in Eastern-Washington; back-country skiing in Whistler; or driving down to Oregon for Mother's Day.
Sounds like he runs a spamming farm. He fits the profile. heh
I use AIM, but only because we have too in our call center. And no, we don't use stupid 3l337 haxorz handles ether. Our AIM accounts are of a formal convention (such as the first letter followed by our lastname and corporate devision).
Because we are always on the phone, we cannot just get up from our cubical to ask a question. Rather, we just AIM a co-worker or manager. If someone has a question in regards to something I might know about, they too will ask me a question.
Basically, Russians are the modern day "vikings" today. However, American Indians have thier roots from Asia at the genetic level. Durring the time when the landbridge was available, early humans crossed it from Siberia to the Americas.
You know, I do find it rather interesting that we have this craving for meat from a bovine in the west. Why is that? Is it a culture thing, or do we humans really like beef?

Money??? Hell, I personally don't have the TIME to play all three of them. I'm a subscriber to World of Warcraft (and I love it to death), but I just can't find enough personal time to devote to playing games anymore.
With nuclear rocket technology, I wonder how hard it would be to attach such a rocket using a grapple-hook to the moon and drag it back to Earth. It would be nice to have a second moon;)
Earth only has one. Adding a second moon would be like the modern day version of building the pyramids
Intel did design a 64bit architecture from the ground up. It was developed as the Itanium. Needless to say, it bombed...big time. Aside from the jokes (Itanic), don't ever expect Intel or AMD do walked down this risky venture again.
I guess it's just after to keep stacking new "standards" on top of eachother. Efficiency be damned. What good does it do if the market place doesn't back up your R&D through a new product?
I can't. Samsung doesn't provide any end-user support for the i600. In fact, it's basically OEM hardware. Samsung just sells and supports the i600 directly to Verizon. So any an all support must be through Verizon.
There are sound effects that go with each phone event. For example, I can assign different WAV files to the ringtone, warning, voice message, e-mail and incomming SMS events. The event that really makes the phone sluggish when moving around the menues is called "Keypad Control". Thus, everytime I press an arrow button on the phone to navigate through the menu, it also has to play a WAV file in the form of a "beep tone" tone each time I press the key.
I just turned off this last event to no sound effet associated with it.
My i600 currently is running Smartphone 2003. Being that it packs some beefy hardware for a phone (I ran the orginal Quake on it), I'm curious to know if MS will provide Verizon with an upgrade for users.
For the record, Smartphone 2003 was always sluggish and would crash. However, when I turned off the sound effects on the phone, all these issues went away and found it to be much more responsive. I suspect the media player components and/or codec is bugged. I hope the 2005 version provide major improvements in the GUI and sound effect response.
And to think this was all done using slide rules and mainframes with less processing power to that of your average microwave oven, refridge, or vacuum cleaner (in part to the Z80 chip).
It depends on the chipset and its native features. For example, nForce provides very good 3D acceleration for being onboard, good network controller, and very good audio. However, this is an exception rather then the rule.
Most cheap motherboards still force the built-in "extras" like AC97 audio, shitty realtek nic, and onboard intel 3D video that doesn't deserve to run the latest games with pride.
Personally, I would rather have pure stock motherboard with nothing added. I prefer to use an Intel Pro or NIC with Broadcom 57xx controller due to TCP/IP checksum offloading. For video, give me an ATI or nVidia card. And audio, I'll slap in an Audigy 2 ZS.
Ummm...no. It's actually it's design to make loud siren noises from your PC speakers at full volume in order to draw full attention from your family and friends in regards to your porn habbit. Not only that, but it uploads your browsing history to a webserver along with your full name and address. Last but not least, it forwards the web address via e-mail to everyone you know including your employer.:P

In networking, there was this thing called a Vampire Tap.
I guess now a Vampire Tap means getting a recharge from someone else.
But if you meet up with Quetzalcoatl among them, you better bow down and warship.

Try...Time Warner Cable. And we send all sorts of information over AIM, and e-mail...and phone....and......fax machines..
Lay off it man, you have NO security regarding information. No one does. Hell, my medical records are flying across the Internet as we speak I'm sure.
MSN Messenger has gotten real bloated with version 7.
When will industry (in general) realize that LESS = MORE.

How about some form of static charge?

OMG, da machine is fuxored!!!
For those ludacris errors

How in the hell was the parent post from AC not modded as troll? The fact it got modded UP is rather distrubing to say the least.
I totally agree.
