    "At all costs". You can interpolate that any way you want. But taken to the nth degree, one could postulate the CCP/PLA would be willing to die in nuclear fire over it. Or, we could just take it for what it is, meaningless rhetoric.

    China has no first use policy. However, many in the PLA have publicly stated of hitting US Navel assets to keep it away from Taiwan. If they did take out a carrier, the fur will fly sort of speak. Not sure it's worth taking out a few hundred or billion people in the process however.... But, human beings are irrational creatures.

    Why not design the drone with the battery back on the bottom? Design them with two smaller battery packs that can be be "dropped". Prior to landing, just leave a smaller amount of reserve power in one of the packs.

    See where I'm going with this? Basically, the drone lands, drops the battery a few inches from the charging bay, then picks up a freshly charged ones (or a mechanism does the swapping). Now do the same with the other battery pack so as to not lose power. As for the spent batteries, the contact pins that landed on the charging bay start serve to recharge them on the next go around.

    Like bees collecting pollen.

  14. The Dell Inspiron 11-3162 is cheap, but it only has 32GB of storage. I uses EMMC flash (Hynix HBG4e) which is dog-ass-slow!. In fact, it might be the same type of memory found in a normal USB flash drive. IOPS is like that of a failing 5400RPM IDE drive. And that was for at least 5 that I worked on*

    *Not my idea, don't ask why they were purchased.

  15. The hibernation files is the exact same size as your system RAM. So, that works if you've got 8GB to start with.

    Honestly, I think this is a good thing with modern SSD where they (Samsung for example) recommend you over-provision free disk space to ensure proper wear leveling of the NAND flash. There's no reason why this 7GB of free space couldn't also be used in this regards to extend the life of the SSD while not in use.

    Truth be told - when you become that successful, it's because of a combination of three things - skill, perseverance, and LUCK. You can have the first two and do well in life. But to reach the summit, yeah, without question, lots of luck.

  20. You're thinking like a Western; and I actually agree with you. In reality however, those in power would be short of slave-labor to exploit, so they would both in-source and out-source it.

    Notice how the West is having an immigration problem and those in power spit on well-beings of the citizens it's supposed to represent? Yeah, that problem. Meanwhile, the brain-drain continues to flow out of 'shithole' nations which only exasperates the need to pop out babies like watermelon seeds. THAT is the problem. Over THERE, not here in the West. Just replace fossil-fuels with nuclear and renewables and the population will continue to drop in the West. Just ask Germany and Japan.

    Meanwhile....build that damn wall to keep the breeding infestation out!!!
