It's funny that you said "huge, dedicated bandwidth" and T1 in the same sentence, especially in this context. If you opted for a T1, you'd be limited to around half your current shared bandwidth, so your reasoning confuses me.
I really wish they had a try-before-you-buy option. I had CDPD with a company for a year -- the service was really slow (claims of 19k max speed was not even close)... signing up to a service that you can't try out, and be stuck with a one year contract seems really dumb.
I aimed the dish myself. The signal was 98 out of 100 for direct tv. During rain it would drop down to the 30's and lose all signal. It wasn't a one-time deal, it was constantly doing this.
I told DirectTV why I was leaving - they offered me a free DVR, and some kind of free hardware that they claimed would help the signal, but i declined.
btw - my parents have directtv and have the same problem as I did with the signal loss when it rains.
My cable provider has their own branded DVR service.
It lets you record 2 shows plus watch a third. I don't see how you can consider that an advantage to a sat vs cable especially when the Tivo services are available for both.
I canceled my DirectTV service after one year. I did so because of signal loss.
Planes DO block signal, but only for 1-2 seconds, the screen freezes up, and then it starts up again.
The major problem wasn't planes - I can live with one or two second pauses - it was due to bad weather.. actually, not even bad weather, but any type of rain would cause complete signal loss.
Until you've bought some of their products and tested them for yourself, you are spewing crap.
Iriver's website does suck, and their customer service isn't too great either. However if you look around online for reviews of the river flash and cd players, you'll see very few people who complain about the quality of the hardware or its sound quality.
And yes, I've actually owned 3 iriver mp3 players.
I've had 4 HDD based mp3 players, about 5 flash players, and two PDA's specifically bought to play mp3 and watch videos with. I've also had 2 diff types of minidisc players.
All in all, while the PDA's were able to play music (and no, I didn't use the included media player), ultimately they were too much hassle, and something like the Dell Axim costs about as much as the typical HDD based player.
Also, even with the extended batt on the Axim, the batt life barely lasts a day while playing non stop at work, with the screen off, and the system in low cpu mode. My minidisc player on the other hand will go several days non stop without any problems.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the minidisc is the way to go -- in fact I hate it reconverting mp3's to atrac3 format, and the other hassles (software mostly), but I am saying that dedicated music players tend to do it well, and in the long run, are a better solution. I lasted 6 months with my last PDA before I gave up and went back to a dedicated solution.
It was never planned to be a permanent removal. There is limited resources that one can put into a project this large while maintaining a job and other personal hobbies. Currently there are at least 3 people who help on the project, and each puts in 6-12+ hours a week.
Sorting results by channel size will be put back soon, though the real question is: Will it be in there by default, or only available in the advanced search?
I beg to differ. searchirc.com - will almost always find you more channels on more networks because:
1) SearchIRC does not have arbratary limits on networks, requiring them to have N number of users to get listed. All networks are included when possible. So it typically has several hundred additional networks listed than any other site out there.
2) SearchIRC lists ALL channels, netsplit.de and others only store channels with >N users, so they only have partial channel lists. Thus SearchIRC has ~300,000 more channels to search through than the others.
3) SearchIRC has automated methods of detecting nevtwork merges, and removal of temporary channels (e.g; A user who joins #fuck-all-ircops before being klined). Without automating things like this, you end up with duplicate channel lists, and duplicate networks which will bloat your user counts and channels indexed.
IRC is notorious for being a drain on the wallet (bandwidth), and a magnet for DoS attacks.
It's one thing to find a use for IRC in it's current form, it's a completely different matter to JOIN irc and make it a money making business decision:)
This wouldn't work unless google's server also spawned off a "user" that joined each channel so they'd be marked to receive the channel messages.
Doing something like that would cause huge net.bursts, which is why ChanServ remains out of channels.
What's the url?
Not really. Look at the responses to this not just here, but on ev1 forums. Majority are negative. This is not the type of publicity that one wants.
The only problem is, no one really seems to know what is going on!
Speculation on cause has ranged from DDoS attacks to having to do with the Microsoft leaked source code.
yes. Imagine what that would do to the RIAA's image if they were going around completely destroying people's lives over songs.
They only had to sell 2 dozen ipods :)

I upgraded to 2.6 in the hopes that it would be able to use HT better and thus improve performance.
The problem is, for MySQL applications, it still ran slower for me with HT enabled. And... "noht" option doesn't disable HT anymore.
Anyone know how to disable HT in 2.6?
TIA
Maybe you should look up the definition of monopoly before tossing it around.
I'm trying to give it some dignity in death, that it never had in life. By converting the O to a zero, I then make it slightly more leet.
Hey, the 3D0 wasn't all that bad. Ermm... maybe it was.
Yeah, you have a PhD in BS.

Erm, you mean E. Honda, right?

You hit the nail on the head. *sigh*
They neglected to put a huge tail fin and Type-R sticker on the probe. No wonder it didn't make it.

Check them out for yourself and compare.

Try something like this
Thanks for the laugh :)
