There are two kinds of social media, real name and real identity social media and avatar based social media, pseudonyms with imagined identities. They are inherently different, one claims to present facts and truths and the other an imaginary social interaction game. They simply need to be treated different, they one that claims to present the truth, needs to be held accountable for sponsoring false content for profit, criminally and civilly, fully liable. It is basically non-fiction social media versus based upon fiction social media, the liability for content difference is real straight forward. Some social media pretends to be true and factual to sell advertising and to mine people's private data, they should be held liable for that, quite clear cut.
Slashdot is between the two, quite simply the exchange and challenging of ideas, and most of Slashdot pondering occurs away from slashdot, just a forum of ideas. 4Chan and 8Chan are different again, pretty much, straight up trolls trolling trolls, challenging challenging ideas, pursuing the bounds of ideas, seek the truth there and you'll twist your brain up like a pretzel.
Facebook et al purports to represent the truth, to datamine it and sell advertising, they should be held liable for that content because by the nature of that social media site they claim to present the truth. The difference between fictional social media, factual social media and ideas social media, all need to be treated differently by their users and by legislation.

The law is inherently broken. Just because you have video of an incident does not mean the incident occurred. Take a typical action move, chock a block full of abhorrent content, which you can be fined for, until you can prove, legally prove it is fake. Flip side for real abhorrent content, it is by law, not real until it is proven to be real in a court of law.
Quite simply it is up to the state to prove it is real prior to demanding a social media site take it down. How do you separate real from fake but in a court of law, the legislation is broken from the get go because it puts the onus on individuals to, I suppose use psychic abilities to ascertain the truth or illusion in the video.
Clause 474.32 Abhorrent violent conduct, gives a list of violent acts but those acts can only be defined in a court of law, until it is proven, the person accused of those acts is innocent and by definition, those violent acts do not yet exist, until they are proven to exist in a court of law. For those acts to exist, they must be proven to exist in a court of law, until then, the person accused of them is innocent and has not committed those acts and those acts do not yet legally exist. The problem should be apparent. Those crimes do not exist, till they have been proven to exist and as such under law, that content should be considered FAKE, until it is proven REAL.

Gees, chill dude. The problem with Google employees is clear, it is a broken recommendation system. Look, sometimes I view those toxic videos, you know the stuff white supremacists, just to see what they say, how they express themselves, try to gauge their real thoughts, see what it is about, zero influence on me. Now the problem is Googe's recommendation system, watch one of those videos out of curiosity and trying to understand the people who create them and bloody Google will serve up nothing but that crap in recommendation, I have to clear the watch history and start all over again.
Now I can see where Google's employees are being misdirected by their recommendation system, they thinks it influences people, they think their recommendation system works. It don't it's pretty annoying and yes, sometimes I think it would be interesting to watch a video because I want greater understanding of the individual and the groups they are a part of but I don't because it will make a mess of recommendations.
Those recommendation hold far less influence than those people think, their thinking distorted by their ego's their deluded perceptions of power and influence. Most people watch conspiracy stuff for fun, not because they believe, the crazies that get triggered, well in reality anything can trigger them, just a matter of time unless an opportunity arises for proper mental health assessment and treatment.
Sure people with bad thoughts will aggregate around that bad content but the content did not create the bad thoughts, they had them already, they are just congregating there. Google stop being dicks, stop doing recommendations based upon watching one bloody video, it's really annoying.
OK it is not them it is us. The IQ average 100, 50% of people are below that. I've used computers for quite some time and well, they are tricky to use and get the most or even a reasonable amount out of them, they just are. I reckon, that below an IQ of 115 they are a struggle to use and you have to go over IQ 125 to be really good at them and even then, you have to keep up.
In the IT field, the IQs are pretty high and they tend to define usability based upon their experience, which compared to the normies, is hugely different because yeah higher IQ to figure out stuff. When I used to right instructions for the less skilled employees, one thing I would always do is follow the letter of the instructions and see If I could carry out the task because relying on missing skills for missing instructions don't fucking work.
Yeah, they are much worse at using computers that the IT team because, on the whole, their IQs are much lower, often quite a lot and computers are not their speciality, making it even worse. When you run the IT department and you users are not using the computer system properly, accept the fact, that it is your fault and not theirs, you have failed to establish a system, establish training and computer use policies and updating them to continue to reduce problems and system use failures.
Yes, the IT department, has to do the computer thinking for the rest of the company because basically, they can not. They pretend they do not want to but the reality is, they simply can not figure it all out. You basically dumb down the system so the, cough, cough, dummies can use it (hey, I understood the problem and learnt to deal with it, does not mean I enjoyed it, oh so painfully frustratingly slow, just take a deep breath zone out and ponder solutions for other problems and wait for them to catch up and tell them how great they are doing, build their confidence).

Quite correct the digital distribution method is generally fine. Incidents has occurred prior to the two crashes, were reported and covered over to maximise profits. The FAA pretty much knew exactly what was going on and corruptly tried to prevent the planes from being grounded to maximise profits. I think the Government of China has slowed down on bringing Taiwan back into the fold and are more comfortable with a natural transition, that will occur as soon as mainland China is a 'Democratic' as Taiwan, not that Taiwan has a particularly stellar record for being democratic, so the gap is not really that big and will occur sooner now, that the mainland China Government is easing back on trying to force it, it will happen, so might was well do it in such a way as to produce the best possible social and economic outcomes.
The only question is, 'So who does Tencent and Baidu compete with in Taiwan', very unlikely to have anything to do with propaganda and much more likely that some insiders in Taiwan profit by this. Diplomatic styles need to be improved all over, everyone hears every thing now and making statements at one country without paying attention to how it is heard by other countries is really clumsy and causes a lot of harm. All diplomatic statements, are now heard by all countries and by people all over the globe and on the internet they last forever, stop saying crap, like only your target can hear it, the old rules are done and gone. A diplomatic statement to one nation, is a diplomatic statement to all nations and all the people of those nations and it does not die in the next news cycle but goes on and on and on the internet.
