It seems the Nokia purchase is not about making mobile phones so much as turning Nokia into a patent troll to cripple other companies with M$ buying an escape clause from that behaviour by buying the mobile phone manufacturing decision of Nokia. Now as this is all based upon stupid shallow Ballmer thinking, M$ has refused to accept the idea that all other companies will blame M$ for Nokia's behaviour and cimply direct the nuclear patents of mass destruction on M$ in retaliation for Nokia's behaviour.
Not just a "particular business-critical application" but a "non-American business-critical application", you seem to have lost the thread of the conversation. So non-American corporations that produce software and hardware solutions will have every incentive to completely separate themselves from any security corrupted American components. From a competitive standpoint this gives them something even more valuable a public argument to force purchasing changes in governments around the world away from American delivered security corrupted solutions, something they will be sure to attempt to leverage to the maximum extent possible.
American corporate response not much of a leg to stand, American government response, hmm, pretend it's not happening 'er' free trade agreements (although I am pretty sure that incorporating elements in US products to purposefully corrupt the security of other countries networks would be covered). Well, I did the exact opposite, the only reason I finally got a mobile phone is because it was a smart phone (note 3) because it could do far more than just make phone calls (maps,camera,internet,notes,calender etc), in fact that calling ability is more about accessing and sending data than just mindlessly chattering. As for Nokia one player simply needs to launch a hostile takeover as a public company by buying up shares, something M$ doesn't need to do as it has already bought protection. So it seems likely is their plan instituted by that plant Elop and targeted at Android and Apple. It doesn't stop counter suits, as quite simply everyone can target them at the purposeful originator of the plot.
The government is the people. Shouldn't the majority of people have the say in the structure of society. Ownership doesn't logically exist, granting control of elements of a shared human society and protected by government only exists as an expression of government. Progress and government go hand in hand, otherwise you are just a naked screaming short hair crested rock throwing monkey. No government, no wealth to redistribute. Hmm, it seems what you really mean to say is "I got mine, screw the rest of you" government stops when it no longer serves you and only you.
Sorry, when government defines what is wealth and protects claims too it, you do not get to define where that starts and stops, what the start day is for being able steal and claim everything and what that end day is for being left with nothing. Government, that expression of the majority once it defines something like wealth, gets to play with it which ever way it wants to from there on it, suck it up.

Gees dude, don't cheap out. Most big screen smart TVs can quite easily handle that and now and you can use a tablet as the remote. So 65" of 4K vision (easy to see and read) with a tablet as the remote and for data input. Forget Apple, it is far better to align that tablet with the brand of TV so Android is far more likely to provide the complete solution.
The big problem with selling zero day exploits is, they are only effective if they remain secret and of course the seller of the exploit is a threat to the secrecy of that exploit. Already sold it once, what stops them from selling again and again and again. So when it comes to buying those exploits organised crime is likely to consider it worthwhile to ensure the silence of the seller and save themselves some money instead. When it comes to buying exploits the more likely source is leaks in intelligence services, you know those douche bag agencies that keep security vulnerabilities secret so that they can exploit them and those leaving their own countries and citizens vulnerable (real fucking bright). If you are corrupt enough to do that, then you are most certainly corrupt enough to sell them to organised crime (a repeat source you would pay and wouldn't silence).
Joe is not an idiot, he runs raid. When his hard disk drive dies, he uses the other one until he grabs the spare hot swap one from the cupboard and inserts it in his server. Joe also has a UPS for power control. Basically Joe has found that servers really are pretty cheap now days and managing them is quite easy especially if he supplements that internal management with some external remote management from a reliable local source. HDisks are so cheap the best backup is another newer HDisk than the one you are currently using. Servers are so cheap, why put it all in one box when you can run two backing each other up. If they can run up huge profits by running servers, Joe can obviously save those profits by managing them himself. Reality is servers are a whole lot easier to manage now than they ever have been, toss in a little localised expert remote management for peak management times and you are done.
