I don't think Windows as an OS is just dying, I think in their arrogant stupidity M$ are killing it. They seem to have this whole destructive management circle jerk going on, where the customers are stupid, gullible idiots who will accept any exploitation what so ever and who are not entitled to any privacy what so ever and ever worse, all small and medium businesses should have their proprietary secrets opened up to M$ for exploitation.
Think how badly M$ has performed, they had a massive lead over Google with MSN and they blew by being arrogant arse holes with whole page ads and web searches for the first bunch of pages being irrelevant ads. The turned a desktop GUI into a mobile phone GUI to try to force sales of mobile phones. Some of the OSs they released were bug ridden and awful, didn't care. Customers have complained again and again about invasions of privacy and M$ doesn't give care, just forcing it in deeper and deeper and deeper.
It's like they have gone full blown stupid, instead of making smart changes, they are stuck in a management circle jerk, doomed to follow the Lotus eaters to oblivion.
So the neocons hacked the US government and started a war over nonexistant weapons of mass destruction, penalty, zero. The banksters purposefully ran a scam to inflate profits and their bonuses whilst cheating customers and investors of billions, penalty, zero.
The Russian broke the law, hacked computer networks and copied credit card numbers, which he then sold to criminals. Those criminals did the stealing, fraudulently using those insecure numbers. Compared to those other crimes with zero penalty, what is going on. I was surprised there was no claim of refusal to help or it appears any effort what so ever to get those criminals who used those credit card numbers (makes the whole thing stink of politics). I would have liked to have seen a reduced sentence, say minus a month for each prosecution the defendant helped to gain against the criminals who used the credit card numbers, or at the very least that effort made. Perhaps the Russian government would have cooperated but no politics seemed to have been the focus.
It seems a major opportunity to track down more Russian criminals was wasted, stupid as.
It is not what power users want, they want customisable, they want choice, they don't want to be told what they want. Either make use of the opportunity or fail, once chance and one chance only, in a blink of an eye it will be gone forever.

Your university hires people to teach, instead of teaching all of the time, the university board tells them they 'WILL' produce that work and the university will own it. Computer geeks like using computers, most people are not computer geeks and do not really like using a computer all that much. People who do not like using computers will find all sorts of faults using a computer (computer geeks will look at most of the computer faults and understand that the majority of them are computer faults but user faults). Many office computer users want the computer to do their job for them, and ask the computer techs why isn't this so, whilst blaming computer techs for the failure. Smart computer techs remind computers workers, if the computer could do their job for them, why would the company continue to employ them. After that many computer workers are much happier about the lack of ability and are content with the faults in their computer.
Why is the US government doing nothing about infrastructure. Here is how it works, the are many infrastructure corporations, they compete and they are way smaller than the war industrial complex corporations. So in the buy up of power, the war industrial complex, simply buys up more power and distorts government policy in their favour. The war industrial complex, wants you to die in the most expensive and profitable way possible, on a battlefield of their choosing, to steal other peoples resources and you don't need better roads or bridges or dams back home to do that, well, at least for this quarters returns. The US is being run by insane psychopaths do not look for sane logic, want to understand what the US government is up to and way, de-construct the visible actions based upon psychopathic logic ie feed the lusts and greed of those in power, first, last and everything in-between.
Now imagine those windows downgrades forced on you twice a year, no choice and you'll have to pay rent for them. Windows 10 is just so, so, bad. Make a desktop GUI like a mobile phone, to try to sell mobile phones and screw customer usability, not a problem, come into work one day and there it will be, no choice compulsory install. Remember how MSN would do full page ads, I mean full page, you could see nothing else, now imagine that on the desktop, how much could they charge for that full page ad and well, screw you. The reality is, you a pretty gullible if you allow M$ that much power over your desktop, you digital security, your internet life (make no mistake they will own it all, you just rent, nothing but a tenant in your own digital life which M$ owns and you gave it to them?!?)
You will only upset bad lawyers. Really long contract you don't like, not a problem. Create a company, contract computer services to that company on a yearly basis and then have that company contract to the supplier for stupidly long contract. The supplier sucks, drop you annual contract with your computer services company and bugger they go broke, forcing you to spend money on creating a new computer services company which you contract out to and who signs onto the new better long term contract. Now if you are worried the contractual separation might not be enough and the liability will shift back, then put an employee into that tiny company and make him part owner and then the contractual separation will be sufficient.
