In Canada, free speech and expression is indeed protected, with the exception of hate-speech.
Interestingly enough though, some forms of legal pr0n (consenting adult-made) are confiscated when discovered coming across the border, yet the same pr0n is legal to make within Canada.
It's one of those rare things that fully entitles the rest of the world to laugh at us.
there are ways to generate electromagnetic pulses without nukes.... not as powerful, but EMPs nonetheless
I can't find the original Popular Science article about it, but the most basic design is an electro-magnet wound around an aluminium tube, with an antenna at the opposite end of the detonator
And a person from Africa contacted me... I looked at the photo in the person's profile, and imagine my surprise to find out that Tyra Banks wanted to date me!
Apparently the fact that there was a slight distance and ocean between us didn't seem to matter.
When I pointed out that, "hey Tyra, the copyright notice is still on the photo" (from a well known magazine), the person sadly stopped sending me messages...
And I wanted to tell the FF devs about it, but then I have to register to bugzilla, and Bugmenot was of no use?!
Anyway, in case anyone is curious, the bug is I was trying to upload a 75mb file to megaupload.com, and the upload speed kept tapering off from 50kb/s down to 10kb/s or so, until about 20-30mb, and then I got a "file contains no data" (iirc) message.
Then I tried with IE, and the upload started at 30kb/s, and went up to 40kb/s, and stayed at this speed til the upload was complete.
I saw that too... I hope smokinggun keeps on top of this case, because it's going to be funny to read the court transcripts, when Jack explains how a reneged promise to pay $10K was turned into an extortion scheme.
Jack to Judge: "Your honor, these youths tried to extort me $10K by donating $10k to a charity in my name!"
Most police "cybercrime" units are still very underfunded.
I think this is due to the fact that cybercrime is still pretty new, compared to other criminal means.
Most people in charge of police departments and people (often politicians) in charge of budget allocations are older and aren't used to dealing with cybercrime.
Once cybercrime goes past the critical boiling point, I predict a huge swing of the enforcement pendulum.
It wont be necessarily pleasant for everyone, especially people who enjoy their current relative anonymity online.
At least Taco didnt slashdot them into submission by linking to them.
Hats off to you, Supreme Commander of teh Legions of Slashbots!

You know how I know you're gay?
...having sex with fairies. We jocks do all that in the real world, except we don't call them fairies, we call them jocks
Although I'm a geek, I'm not gay, so please refrain from making generalizing statements like that.
Thanks for the info that jocks are fairies, though. One more reason to stay away from them.

"hostile" takeovers sound "evil".

Disbarilarity will ensue.
Text-only website, yea!
The description of this highly pure form of cannabis deserves an appropriate street name...
Since it's so much more powerful, kinda like crack compared to coke, how about we call it, by analogy:
Crack Pot

Well, I'm still waiting for a post-modern abstractist style FPS
Rumor has it that Peter Jackson is already considering a King Kong sequel, involving a MechaKingKong running Linux.
He wanted to have a MechaGodzilla, but it was running a Sony proprietary OS.

The pr0n industry was designed to find alternative routes of delivery in case of Internet outages.
What does Google intend to do with the enemy combatants who will eventually be captured?
No doubt.
It also increases their profit margin.
they could just sell 3$ last-forever DVDs and they'd make even more profits from the increased number sales
But can someone tell me which drugs and antibiotics I should give to my PHB in order to cure my ulcers?
But in the meantime, there's always the bittorrent pirated version.

Just because I download it now doesnt mean I wont buy the DVD
