You can get high-speed ICs made for switching signals like this. Of course, you'd need to make a pretty good circuit board for this to not have problems, but there are quite a few low-volume board creation services out there that can make boards for you if you have a good circuit design ready.

I get symmetric 480Mbps... Oh wait, that's the college campus. I get up to 40Mbps (If it's to another college) down to, well, usually less than 1Mbps.

On the other hand, having a 100Mbps connection to anyone else on campus (Some even have 1Gbps connections!) is very nice. So for the cost of living on campus I get 100Mbps locally, with pretty low bandwidth to any other site. Which brings up a question, in that just how much bandwidth do these people get to places outside of Japan? Is it like a much larger version of this campus, or do they have pretty good speeds to the rest of the world?

  21. Re:Aircraft are expensive... on Complaints Pour In After Digital TV Test · · Score: 1

Well, apart from the fact that satellites are getting pretty cheap nowadays, I was talking about satellite TV, where they normally have satellites in orbit already. And if you did get a new 747 (At $198 million - $228 million) you certainly would have been better off with cable. However, I suppose a used, stripped craft would probably be cheaper. At that point you might as well have just gotten an antenna tower and a couple of directional antennas, as they can be optimized for the signal.

Er, it's probably cheaper to get Cable or Satellite in your area than a 747. I know you already bought the plane, but if it's still in good condition you might be able to resell it.
