  3. Don't fear the command line on The Best Linux Distro for a New User? · · Score: 1

Really, while dealing with a clean cut GUI is great, it's still a great idea to deal with the command line on occasion. You will get a fuller understanding of everything from the Linux kernel to Computer Science in general.

Obviously, you shouldn't have to use the command line exclusively, in fact, you shouldn't have to use it most of the time, but playing with the command line every once in a while, alongside a little bit of frustration, will be worth your time.

Further, you might run into little pitfalls every once in a while that have no GUI solution. If you do not at least partially familiarize yourself with the command line you will not be able to solve it.

Also, when I get bored, if you look at my history, you will see chunks that take the form:
    cd *folder name*
    ls
    cat *file name*
    ad nauseum.
I'm more knowledgable because of it.

So, bottom line, don't pick a distro because everything is graphical, and don't work with a distro avoiding the command line at all costs, it will only hurt your GUI experience and hurt your Linux experience in general.

They've taken a fairly decent approach to implementing wireless. Ok, if this is directed at me, I feel compelled to rebuttle. I did read the article. What I stated still holds true even after your post. Nima analyzed the photos and decided that the craft did land as expected and thus something else caused the spacecraft to malfunction. It was belived that it crashed on impact and that is the reason it didn't work. Therefore, they were able to find no unexpected damage. (ie. lack thereof).

The images are available (linked in the Slashdot article) and after viewing them, I was shocked they were able to determine this kind of detail.

Further, there is nothing "conspiracy theoretical" (Yeah, I made that word up), about my post. I simply stated that since NIMA's main order of business is to watch things on Earth, they must be able to determine quite a bit about what happens here on land if they can determine that information from those Martian photos.

Haitian groups are not satisfied and want the option to return the uneditted game for the editted one.

This is why there's a problem. Nobody cares but the Haitians. Nobody in their right mind will have puchased a known offensive game and return it for a less offensive one. This is part of the game's appeal.

There's been a lot of speculation on media like this lately. We devoloped a rating system for a reason and it seems people are ignoring them. This game is rated mature because it is offensive, and it is violent. People are still stupid enough to think that those who play these games will be inclined to go on killing sprees. If they would just adhere the rating system, we would find that only 18 year olds and older would be playing the game. If you have enough money to even buy the game and(/or) the console/computer to go with it, you obviously have enough intelligence to distinguish the difference between a video game and real life. It's time everybody started to practice some rationality.

This doesn't just include video games. Movies and Television shows are subject to the same irrational scrutiny.
