    Not that I am installing it either, but how is GameGuard really any different from PunkBuster, which sets itself up as a service and continues to run in auto mode even after a restart ? Granted there was an click to install window for punkbuster and it seems gameguard may go in the back door so to speak, but they both auto-update silently, and accomplish...or try to accomplish the same thing.

    I can buy a laptop that will do everything this does and MUCH MORE for like an additional $100. Seems like this device is a dead end niche minus the niche. Without a keyboard, how much email can you do ? Read but not reply ? While a virtual keyboard might work for a few keystrokes, a simple 2 paragraph email becomes torture using a non-existent KB.

    I usually take them to Best Buy, just because I really hate the place and the management. I normally walk them into the customer service desk and set it in front or on top, tell the worker I'll be right back and just leave. I've never had anyone question me, heck, half the time they pretend not to even notice you so they don't have to deal with you. I like to imagine the look on their face at closing time when someone realizes that the item is not even a model they stock.

    Am I the only one having visions of Frank Herbert's the White Plague?
      There is nothing wrong with researching at home, but how does one ensure the integrity of a bio filter system at home? The concept of someone 'releasing' a 'cure' for ANYTHING from their basement no matter how well intended simply scares the feces out of me. Can you seriously see a point at which somthing would NOT need WIDE peer review and independent recreation before be 'released into the wild' ?
      As for why someone would not be at a college/univiersity or government level, I can think of 2 good reasons - bureaucracy and politics.

    NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER EVER click an ad banner. If you see somthing you REALLY want to view get the source and go there in another browser window, but clicking thru an ad banner is somthing I can't ever remember doing in the entire time I've been on the net...

    I agree in principal but in many areas a single function is made up of several companies or entities. Without the ability to share info, many a business will grind to a halt. What if it is your insurance co. to an emergency ward at the hospital ? Are we going to have to individually authorize every 2 or more entities that actually need to share 'personal' info to conduct business on our behalf ? How is your financial information to be tracked for a credit rating without every company involved getting authorization from you ? What about property ownership and so-called public info that actually contains significant private information ? The fact that I own property at xxx mystreet doesn't insure I live there but it is a good indicator...
    IMHO there needs to be 2 sets of rules, #1 that applies to entities you are DOING business with that defines and limits the scope of what, when, where, why and how they can share my info, and #2 a set that prohibits entities that I am NOT DOING business with from seeking, receiving or utilizing any of my personal info without first seeking my permission.

    Some folks will never learn, no matter what you do for them or to them, but I have found through experience that letting someone 'ALMOST' hang themselves, then saving the day, will often get the needed ooomph to cause a (L)User to open their eyes. The closer to home it is the better it works, and the more you let them dig themselves in the better it works. Just make sure to cover your hiney in ALL cases via email, and ensure that you are FULLY supported by management policy if not a manager personally. In the 15 years I've been an admin for various functions (Unix,email,network,DBA) I've been able to generally win over my most vocal opponents, and I've only had to 'burn' a few to the ground. Being known as being 'CAPABLE' of being the BOFH is a great tool in your arsenal as well, then they know you are being 'nice' to them but could easily just let them swing in the wind...

    but rather this appears to be earthlink. Time to find a new ISP. Since their policy changed it should invalidate any long term contract you have, time to move on. The ONLY language either entity will uncerstand is you voting with your dollars, by giving them to another company. I realize comcrap will probably see this as a violation of their right to profit, but OH WELL...

    to be persecuted ? Scientology is FAR from that. Persecuting them is more like pursuing criminals and thieves than persecuting a religion. I HAVE been accused of being intolerant against the Scientologists and the LDS, but I feel it is not intolerant but just returning the behavior I get from them. My cousin is due to be married in an LDS temple soon, as her family we are expected to attend, support, provide financial support, but as NON MORMONS, we are also expected to stand outside the wedding with the doors closed until the ceremony is over and they come out fron for the reception. Needless to say the family has SEVERELY rejected that idea and it has caused no end of stress. My 85 year old grandpa, bless his heart, said what everyone else was thinking and refused to go or support, nor will her father give away the bride. She is screaming we all want her wedding to fail, and we are saying what wedding....

    If you read the ultra fine print you will probably find a clause that allows them to change the terms of the contract at their discretion, and that posting a update on their web site is sufficient notice, it's usually right before the clause that allows them to have any disputes settled by their cousin Harrold in a kangaroo court of their choosing....

    These 2 companies deserve each other like few in the world do... SAP sales folks ARE the KINGS of VAPO-Ware. They will promise ANYTHING in the "next release" and then re-assign any person responsible for making any claims of any type, stating that they are unavailable at this time. WM is one of the lowest of the low and has been tied to corruption and the MOB in more states than I can count on 2 hands. I am just sitting back hoping they will do each other in :D

    I find this to be an odd assumption, as I've used a netbook type computer for a while now and it was by FAR the easiest device to lose the M$ OS and apps. On my desktop and laptop I still game and run apps that sadly keep me coming back to M$, but the netbook is running Linux, full time, with no loss of functionality.

    LOL, he hehehehe, I'd say you are not that business savy. The highest resolutions are ALWAYS managers using HUGE monitors to do stupidly simple things like surf the web. I'd have no issue to having the option to move the tabs to the side but I can see the mess now my 60K+ users would cause. Oh and by the way, NOT A SINGLE FIREFOX user amongst them.

    I depend TOTALLY on the internet for my employment and the maintenance of my way of life.
    My house, family, food, and their healthcare are ALL genereated from the work I do on/through the net.
    If my ISP, I do use a business connection, decided to drop my T1 for some not payment related failure, I would be VERY SCREWED, and would likely seek/need legal recourse.

        Note : I don't download music I don't already own a physical copy of, but some of that material is on 8 or 4 track tape that I bought in 1974, I've format switched it via the internet. The music industry insists on a license to listen, not ownership model so be it. If you own ANY physical copy of the material the you are entitled to the material in different formats. If they want to change their policy to ownership of the single copy then I will change my behavior to reflect that.

    Enriched Uranium Reactors or Heavy Water Reactors ? There is a WORLD of difference in operation and potential disaster. The US uses the cheaper alternative the enriched uranium which is inherently UNSTABLE and RADIOACTIVE. Most of the rest of the world is using heavy water reactors which while more expensive to operate are much more stable and clean. I was unable to tell from the article which the Russians are building. As to wiping out the polar bears habitat, does it matter if it all goes boom, or just a portion of it starts glowing at night in time with the aurora australius (southern lights)??

    The original series had the Andorians playing a MUCH greater part and the Klingons were indeed just a bit part. Odd how the movies switched that around...
