I have no citations to present but I think they are going about it backwards. Concentrate on the long haul trucks and the shipping industry, then leverage that know how and experience into self driving cars. The behaviors and needs of big trucks seems more predictable, the trucking industry seem more receptive and more likely to finance and adopt the technology. Then after having success there they can spread to other areas.
Stop worrying about branding and labeling and deal with functionality. Establish a menu style and STICK WITH IT. Make an API and leave it in place long enough for people to get used to it and they will support and use the product. Quit trying to emulate the car industry and producing a 'new' model every season.
I pay my taxes , and have medical insurance that I pay for myself as well. I spent 17 years working for a large corporation paying into a system that I never collected a dime from, be it unemployment or so-called welfare. I pay sales tax, vehicle registration, property tax, and what I believe to be a fair amount of income tax. You seem to have jumped to an erroneous conclusion that because I prefer to use cash that I don't contribute, which leads me to the conclusion that you are a taint licking douche flute wance...
I do computer systems work, network install and trouble shooting, security system install, maintenance and trouble shooting, plus I walk dogs and am a gun smith. I work for cash or barter and make it known up front. I have a respectable checking account and a debit card for emergencies and the few things you can't avoid, like car rental. Otherwise I keep cash in a safe along with my secure papers and such. I report a modest income and pay taxes on it. I don't own a smart phone, I have an anonymous cell phone with cash purchased minutes and an email account on several public services for doing business. Almost all of my business is via word of mouth and I am doing quite well. I will not frequent a business that doesn't accept cash, except in an emergency. It helps that I have friends I can count on to help me out in some cases. It is possible to survive with out using the cashless options, but getting harder to do so.
??? As an operator/tech sup for many years in an MVS environment it was common to see a program fail to clean up memory or temp space due to bad programming or system error and only realize it when the next user/program went to write or utilize resources that had data in the registers. It may be a thing of the past now but I can recall often be told by the systems support folks that the problem was often left from the previous user and stumbled on by the current task/user. I worked with MVS/SP and XA, DOS/VSE, long before they added the Z line. Are you familiar with JES2/3, or how about DEC PDP 11/70's or VMS ?
I know enough about AI to realize this probably isn't it, but another incremental advancement in a conversation bot, aka VRU. How can we have AI when we don't even begin to understand the source of our own Intelligence. I worked for a VRU support development unit once, maintaining the *nix machines, and the SAN. I am by no means a programmer, let alone a brain scientist, or a cognitive psychologist but I have had exposure.
I enjoy a vegetarian meal but I've never understood the search for a meat substitute. When I want meat I eat it, when I want vegetarian I eat that way. There are plenty of vegetarian dishes that I would choose to eat purely because of the taste. I personally think the idea of a gene moded wholly artificial key ingredient sort of defeats the purpose of a vegetarian, or raw diet I wonder if it would qualify as Halal or Kosher ? I think of Soylent : Green when I consider stuff like this...
I miss my bong, but the GF insisted it go, and banned smoking indoors. I gave it and my pipe for a vaporizer/atomizer. What I don't miss about it was the horribly toxic mess bong water turned into after just a hit or two, and the mess made when one of your stoned buddies inevitably knocked the thing over.
So now I'll get non targeted targeted ads. I can expect Geri curl, tampon, and spanx ads to go with my jewish singles dating site banner ads. I think I'd rather be profiled...

So in other words if you've got a shitty internet connection, you'll have a shitty console experience. Buy the hardware, lease the game, until they decide to stop supporting it AND pay for a net connection to support it all. Sounds like a cash cow for M$, and a cornholing for consumers. YEAH TEAM !!!
I always make a statement to the effect that by continuing this call you are agreeing to being recorded and that any consent arrived on this call is legally binding and considered contractual. World Saving would immediately forward me to a supervisor, and Wells Fargo agents would hang up. When dealing with what I suspect might be an AI or robocall I make a nonsensical statement like "purple monkey dishwasher sauce ?" and ask for agreement. You can generally determine the nature of the call by the response or lack thereof from something like that.
Who gives vendors access that survives a single on-site visit ? I can remember back in the day activating vendor access ID's with a new PWD every time they were onsite, and freezing the same ID's when they left the site. They were not allowed remote access unless an engineer was onsite at the time and that remote access was physically disconnected when the incident ended and the onsite personnel left the site.
I fear that government officials are using the telephone and the USPS to cheat, lie, steal and otherwise abuse the system they are supposed to be supporting. I think messaging apps are just the latest tool in the hands of some of the worst crooks on the planet, our elected officials. I could of course be wrong, but I'd not bet my lunch money on it.
I grew up playing Zork and online text games. I was a longtime player of the World of Norrath(mud), which was the precursor to EverQuest. I was in grade school when the original D&D red box came out and I can remember the first time a group of 5 of us got together to battle the forces of darkness in the school library. I was an elf when that was a class unto itself. I still play pen and paper RPG's with a group twice a month, it is GURPS these days but little else has changed.
Absolutely not. I just felt that the potential mobile monopoly and the cable issue were sort of intertwined. What with the phone companies buying up the cable companies and vice versa. The line between content provider and content delivery becomes hugely blurred. The way things are headed now will return us to the days of Prodigy vs. AOL vs Genie vs CompuServe, and a segmented internet where certain resources are available only to the 'citizens' of certain services.
I am less concerned about a mobile phone monopoly than I am about collusion amongst cable delivery companies. The fact that the large cable companies won't even try and compete with each other and openly acknowledge such a strategy is a far greater threat to my mind than a possible mobile carrier monopoly. I feel like 3 companies with a healthy churning market is better than a locked in cable market that exists today in a large portion of the North American market.
Wouldn't this qualify the shoes as an illegal performance enhancement ? Just like the artificial lower limbs with a higher than natural spring resistance enhance a runners ability ?
I'd be willing to bet that money changed hands and that the data was 'acquired' by some people who shouldn't have it when the data was 'accidently' left exposed.
Isn't this the same firm that was declaring the PC market dead about 6 months ago. It is like the 7th day Adventists, if you predict the death of something every other week, and growth the weeks in between, eventually one or the other will happen.
That is what extra/injury/delay time is for. If you've ever played futbol(soccer) getting kicked in the shins or knee, or taking an elbow to the head hurts like a mofo for a few minutes then subsides to a dull ache. Twisting a knee can result in a sharp pain that goes away quickly or a torn ligament/tendon and it often takes a moment or two to determine which.

Long live B37 space errors.
In other words MVS with a TSO interface ? The problem with that is when the user before you leaves things in a mess you have to clean up...

That is high praise. Infocom games were great at foreseeing huge numbers of scenarios and coming up creative and amusing responses.

Even when I do watch TV it is very rarely live. Usually I watch off my DVR, after the fact so I can FF thru the commercials.

I would think that setting the target is part of the process, but I agree with your point.
