I guess the most important part of Jared's diet usually doesn't come to light, but you're right...he did do a lot of exercise. when he went to subway, he walked, and when he left subway, he walked. now take those trips for 3 meals (6 trips) and it's a decent day's exercise...but i'm sure having a "healthy" sandwich (low fat meat, no mayo) also had a lot to do with it....i don't see a problem with the ads.
I actually did get to see Matrix: Reloaded at the local IMAX (Raleigh, NC), and it was presented in letterbox format (which I was glad). It was suprising because Star Wars: AOTC on IMAX was cut (pan&scan) as well as about 15 mins of footage...but for reloaded it was the full movie, I don't know how they solved the reel limit, but i'm glad they did. it's not not badly priced, considering that they charge $7 for a 40 min documentary, and $9 for a 2.5 hr movie!:)
that would be funny if they're trying to monitor BitTorrent files, because once they starting downloading to verify the validity of the file, they'd be immediately sharing the same file:)
something tells me that you still have to tell the originating company what your "new" address is. There's nothing that says that you have to send ALL of your mail through these people, be selective, maybe just bills, if you're worried about privacy. Who cares if they see that you have a $200 electric bill? You wouldn't tell Playboy that your new address is X, they would keep your regular home address.
I actually know what you're talking about...i got to see Matrix: Reloaded at an IMAX screen and wow...everyone had scars and hairs coming out of places i'd rather not have seen:)
definitely agree, if it wasn't for my office relying heaving on Access, we could easily switch to linux for desktop computing. is there ANY access equivalent, some stuff is just a lot easier to do copy/pasting records instead of
select * into x where blah, and blah and blah, and blah or blah
um...there IS only a front page:)
where else is it supposed to go if they want to post it. There isn't (that I know of) an:
"good to know" Slashdot
and a "really important to know" Slashdot
I actually don't think it would matter if the suit followed to other browsers...as you well know, a lot of the way companies work (that make plug-ins, or any other for that matter) would make sure that the new version of the plug-in would work in IE FIRST, and then maybe if they had time, they'd make it work for everyone else.
So, in the end, the other browsers would probably have to change the way they accept plug-ins as well anyway, so that it'd be easier for plugin-makers to port it.
while, this would help for the "lowest common denominator" of web browsing...there's still a lot of things that Java and Flash can do that HTML/Javascript just weren't meant to do...and for that matter shouldn't be attempted.
the "real-time" interactivity that Flash provides in MX (with flash remoting) is really nice, and doesn't look as kludgy as the java applet alternative.
don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but I wonder if you can still do a kickstart installation...that way, you don't even SEE the ads, or atleast don't have to stick around for them to hit NEXT:)
no, not an "enemy of open source" but perhaps he's trying to cover his ass if he hires an SCO employee and there's some clause in the old contract that all UNIX related material they contribute to is now and forever part of UNIX, then you don't want to get caught in another lawsuit either.
PS: Steve Albini for those that don't know was in many bands very influential to the Nirvana/Pearl Jam type bands of the day. Bands like Big Black and Shellac...then he turned to producing bands like Nirvana and Bush and others...
I guess I don't see why everyone is thinking that this is a new idea. Robots being part of the community is nothing new. Taking some jobs maybe...but they'd probably keep to jobs that nobody wants, like counting cows, picking up trash, cleaning...
Why am I saying this is nothing new? Have you seen 2001, matrix, animatrix, metropolis, etc.
plus what would be so bad about giving people the chance to work at something "better" you can't be a mcdonald's employee all your life, do something with your life. why are you people worried about fast food jobs beeing taken? maybe it'll give these same people time to come up with their own business or go to school and learn something new...
yes, that's a work around, however, now you would have 1 track as opposed to two. Also, they could even come out with their own "DRM" type cd image and their own burner software that would delete the image after it burned (of course you could re-rip the cd, but then that's on you...they covered their ass).:)
I don't know if anyone has posted this...but what i'd like to see is if I choose the option to buy the whole album, I should be able to download a CD image (bin/ccd/nrg/iso/something) of the entire CD (maybe including extras?). It'd be great for songs that seem to merge together (if you burn DAO, disc at once), instead of getting the 2 second gap from TAO (track at once) and messing up the song...of course if you wanted to buy one track at a time, it'd still be mp3/ogg/aac/whatever...:)
I've been using the very Pioneer A05/105 for about 6-7 months now for DVD backup...I'd have to say that i haven't had any problems with the backups, using DVDXCopy or DVDShrink.
If you do have said drive, you'll want to check out the firmware page to get better compatibility with cheaper DVD-Rs and raise the 2x rip speed to 12x.
I guess I don't see what the comparisons are about, there should definitely be less coasters with DVD-R anyway, isn't that what the write strategy is for?
here's a couple of other pictures from that selection...just when i thought it was supposed to be impossible to lose your balance on it, Bush proves me wrong. he's a genius!

someone has been watching Pinky & The Brain too much...

not only Linux, as another poster mentioned, but Apache as well...so much so, in fact, that that's how it got it's name.
have you ever seen Super Troopers? It's easy:
"Enhance...Enhance..."
Here's a great article written by Steve Albini on problems with the music industry...very revealing.

I remember my supervisor telling me once before a demo that we had to do (in respect to showing the stuff from the demo that would actually work):
"I can walk on water...you just have to tell me where the stepping stones are"

really? more funding/tax dollars???...i guess we do need to find a place to go since we already fscked this planet up!
that's funny, weren't alanis and tori amos on tour together a couple of years ago for mp3.com?

hm...??? better "technically" isn't that was everyone says about Linux, but yet MS Windows is still the leader?
