So let me get this straight. I pay $5 for a used CD that has ~ 15 songs on it. So for $40 i get 90 songs. Then one day the used record store goes outta business, my cd player breaks or i buy a new computer etc. Im supposed to return those CDs and buy them anew from another used cd store? Yea the grandfather post was a bit dumb wanting all the parts for none of the price, but DRM is freaking lame if you ask me.

Yea thats fine, i totally agree with you. But there was alot of signal to noise in these last movies. The chess game? Freaking awesome. I honestly cant think of a single moment in the recent movies that compares or even comes close. But im sure Obi-wan ridding a chirping lizrd thing will sell really well in the stores.
Heres something that would have been more entertaining: Take 1 bum, give lightsaber and play 'Apache Jump On it' for about 2h40m. The acting prolly woulda been better.
This movie was shit. Not 'this most current star wars movie was shit', not 'haha lucas is such a hack, his movies are shit' but just plained old stiking shit. On its own this movie wouldn't have a leg to stand on. In about 10 - 15 years i seriously doubt people will watch the prequels and think what fantastic movies they are ( people still do that with the original trilogy, hmm i wonder why ).
And yes while it might be 'cool' to make fun of the movie and poke holes the movie still sucks. I think i almost fell alseep during parts.
So i call your bluff sir. I believe 98% of the people on this planet could write a better movie than lucas. Once you realize what a bag of ass it was and how worthless all the merchandise you bought is this world will be a happier place.

I dont think its about 'who turns their PC off' but more an attitude of 'accidents happen'. So while you might have you Computer plugged into a UPS to make sure it can be shutdown safely, Grandma just plugs her computer into the same socket as her lamp. Then when she turns off the lamp, my goodness, the computer shuts off as well. That is what happens in the real world.
What would really be amazing is all the little homebrew application that could be built using the hardware. Mediaplayer is about the only thing i can think of but there must be others.

Its easy to say here, in an office, or a house or your car or wherever you are in your clothing which was made by an asian who makes 1/1000th of what you make a year, that its better to live in haiti than in a communist nation but until you've lived that life you really cant comment on it.
Heres the problem i have with one of your arguments ( as eloquent as they were ). There hasnt been a single show i've watched this season that didnt have an insane ammount of product placements. Here are some examples:
Apprentice - each week is an hour long commercial for whatever event they're planning/selling
Smallville - Everything they use is a brand, from the Alienware computers to all the nice new cars they drive each week
Survivor - How many times can they eat pringles in a single week? How many home depot tools do they have atm?
24 - 'The Cisco network is self healing' or better yet every call they get is on one of the Cisco voip phones.
Amazing Race - Find the travelocity gnome?
And on and on and on.
You see the networks can make most of their cash through product placements. Its the local affiliates which advertise those shitty local store that would be losing out.
With satelites etc all you really need is one local news show. Do you even need that with talk radio and news papers?
Just cause the model is broken doesnt mean you need to protect it.

What you dont understand is that i dont care if its a dupe. Im smart enough to see that. Most people are. But sure enough someone has to point it out 3 bajillion times in the comments section. There should be a way to filter out the word 'dupe' and all the subsequent threads following so i dont have to listen to the whining.

We hind behind excuses, but at the end of the day we are all greedy bastards trying to save a buck for that new house, that new car etc. So at the end of the day when we come home from a job that pays too little and we want to watch an episode of scrubs from three weeks ago then we're going to. Just like how people speed, how people cheat and how people lie. Thats who we are. Either the networks can embrace it or they will lose. Cause nothing is better then alienating your demographic.
