As in any world, citizens has responsabilities too. They must pay a fee, or taxes, to maintain servers, bandwitdh, etc and the developers/officials they elect to ensure quality. If you want to be commercial viable and bring some stabilty, maybe the so-called "founding fathers" could collect part of the "taxes"and with that manage the servers, mantain the framework on wich elected developers work on, market the game...etc. For this to work, the game must be developed in a very modular way, enabling fast, dynamic and centralized changes on the way the game' world works.

i'm been around linux since maybe 6 or 5 years, and have a PocketPC since 2. An Ipaq to be accurate. The point on having linux on this kind of devices are several. As other have point out, one is to be able to say "you can ran linux on a toaster". ie, linux is flexible and powerful -as a tech platform ("you CAN do with linux whatever you want") and as a development model ("you MAY di with linux whatever you want"). Other point, is options. Monopolies lead nowhere, all slashdoter know this. I know, there is Palm, but seriously, Palm aren Pocket PCs, they are PDA, and i think there is a differece. Finally, but not less important, people put linux on everything because they can. Miself, i haven't move from Windows CE to Linux because there is a severe lack of sync tools. Even inside open source software. I still depend on Outlook because of that. I want to move all my things to Evolution but but i cant cause linux or not on my PocketPC i still can't sync.

Space program have been always be about politics. I'm not going to deny there is so interesting and neccesary scientifics needs about it, but mainly it's a politician's toy for the proud/imagination of american people. When people don't look at NASA, their budget start to shrink. That is a clear evidence that there is no great quest for scientific truth. That what i see... Anyways, i think the old days of goverment dependecy of the space exploration will come to an end, and private companys will take it from there. Space race will detached itself from burocracy and popularity rates. THAT will be interesting.
