Virtual Earth had it first. This time Microsoft beat Google on their own turf. By the way, the MS interface is way better and the clarity of the aerial photographs is better too.
of course, your experience speaks for everyone, doesn't it? last time i checked, more devices were natively supported in XP than in any linux distribution. just because you fcked up doesn't mean the product is broken.
I am sure the scientists who go on to win the Nobel prize understand this difference as well and choose the former over the latter. The point still remains that they have to understand the already done work!
Why is this a "waste"? Do you expect to do groundbreaking physics research without knowing and understanding the fundamental laws or even basic calculus? There is no point in re-inventing the wheel and so some time spent in reading literature is time well spent.
I think the reason for this is that any new invention/discovery now takes years of reading and understanding the basic work that has already been done. Scientists in the past did not have so much background literature/work that they had to comprehend as the scientists today have to. This is of course not saying that their discoveries were rudimentary or inconsequential, but just that they did not have to spend so much time understading already done work.
Hmmm.. at least someone shares my interest in Consumption Junction. For those who are wondering what the heck I'm talking about, check out this guy's blog title.
The link to MSN search on the main story links to beta.search.msn.com. It should be noted that MSN Search is out of beta for a while now - the correct links should be http://search.msn.com. It's not like it's Google or something - trying to keep everything in beta for years to escape criticism.
i personally think it is a very good move. Combining forces with UserLinux will not only increase its userbase but will allow Ubuntu to conform to the standards that UserLinux was established on. Ubuntu is a great distro that is good for the desktop and the server alike. You just got to love the apt-get.

Though I understand the moral implications, giving access to his emails will set a precedent for a lot of con-artists to fake deaths and obtain access to sensitive emails (indentity theft?). Keeping is closed is hence prudent.

This is definitely true - I was pretty aghast looking at some of the advertisements on TV about the new games coming out - "Rose Rumble" and "Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas" being some of the them. The image of women in games has been reduced to that of a "whore" who is expendable and there only for pleasure. Very distrubing and unfortunate.
Please help me infect my machine at 139.147.8.100 I need to test virus/worm scanners on it!!
Call it off-topic.. but has anyone else noticed that if they use Slashdot without logging in, all I see on the main page is the old news.. the 5 most recent news articles are not updated for some reason. I tried re-loading the page, restarting the browser and even switched browsers - same shit.

The page will almost certainly get /.d since the animated GIFs are over 1.5 MB each.
Here's a mirror if that happens:

Then perhaps the study should be done again! Perhaps things have changed.

Wow, a 5.0 MB link from the main page of Slashdot! Here's a mirror of the PDF documents if the original site goes down.
Check out the opening video for Tiger (the first time you set it up).
How does this compare to the upcoming Avalon engine for Longhorn?
