Take a look at their specs sometime. When Nintendo was actually producing the SNES, and marketing it as 16-bit, it was capable of closer to 24-bit. PSone, on the other hand, was closer to 16-bit, and had a halfway decent 3-d graphics processor that helped it along with 3-d graphics processing. That, BTW is the only real reason that it could come close. As far as killing SNES 2-D with its own 2-D? When was the last time you played Mario Land or Super Metroid? Those look WAY better than any side scroller on PSone, and Castlevania: Dracula X looks just as good as any of the Castlevania games on the PSone.

But yea, if it really was an SNES in there, then it would have an X&Y button too.

  4. Re:Battery Life on PSP Controller Layout, New Details Revealed · · Score: 1

They talked up the PSone like that too. That turned out to have no more capability than the SNES when it launched. I won't expect the PSP to be that much better than the GBA when they come back to earth with a more realistic set of specs. I'll expect to see that about the same time that we actually get to see what it will even look like. Personally, if this thing is anywhere near as powerful as they are touting, they will be laying no beatdown on nitendo, since they will be marketing a handheld gaming product the size of a new PSone. That is, unless they reach really far up their ass and pull something out. They might, if they try hard enough, get it down to about the size of a dvd player, but that will depend on the drive. If they go with the proprietary cartrdige disk they say they are, then this thing will be freakin huge, without a doubt. They should probably learn Nintendo's lesson and go with some kind of mini rom cart, and put out an add-on for the ps2/x/3, whichever is the big deal on the market, and allow players to port PSone/2 games to a cart, then take them on the go. Now that is an idea that would sell.

About 15 to 20 years ago, long before Napster, Kazaa, and the horde of P2P clients came about, most new artists encouraged their fans to come to their shows, tape them, and copy these tapes and mail them out. While this was technically a pyramid scheme, it was never really bothered with because no money ever changed hands, and was simply fans getting the word out to people they new about new talent that was local to whereever they were. A few of the bands that endorsed this, ie Metallica, have now started to request that individuals trading files be prosecuted as it takes away from sales. Now while I do agree that CD sales have dropped considerably, I have also noticed that the number of back catalog CDs being released have dropped, and according to the figures I have seen, these back catlog releases were accounting for a large percentage of CD sales. Is it possible that the sales of CDs is not due to file trading, or even pirated CDs, but that the market sector with the most money to spend, the 25 and over group that was buying up all the CD copies of the LPs and tapes they used to own drying up? Also why is it that filetrading is seen so negatively, when even today a great deal of musicians still allow fans to tape their shows?

Once upon a time, there was a portable PC. It was called a laptop. The laptop became more and more powerful, got a larger screen, a more functional, almost desktop like keyboard, and the price began competeing with the desktop. People started to say that it could replace the desktop.

Has anyone else heard that story? I heard it 10 years ago, and it still hasn't happened. All together now; "No portable computer will ever replace the desktop you have at home." Oh, and as far as your 7.1 sound in the PSP, that only means that it has the capacity to implement it. It still only has 1 tinny speaker, 2 if you're lucky, and if you really want 7.1 you will be tied to a tv, and that defeats the purpose. As for the rest of your comment, I don't currently own a pda either, but i really wish i did. Certainly not this one, as the price is pretty outrageous. But replace a desktop? These things won't even replace a laptop.

Saying that Warcraft Adventures was Blizzards so-called lemon is not exactly a fair or true statement, seeing as the project was stopped in the deveopment phase. The reasoning behind the stoppage, while it was never made official by Blizzard themselves, was that they were trying to put out a CRPG at a point in time when BlackIsle and Bioware were cleaning house with the Baldur's Gate series. However, as most know at this point(here it is for those who don't) they did keep most of the development data, which they expanded upon and turned into the Orc campaign in War3. As I recall, when Nintendo announced GC at E3 a few years ago, they made the statement that it was aimed at anyone who enjoys playing games. I'm 23, I own a gamecube, with ambitions to buy the other 2 systems (PS2 for FF, Xbox for Steel Battalion), and out of all the games I've played on any system, Nintendo games keep my attention longer than any of them, and are way more innovative and fun. As far as most of the games having cartoony graphics, the only game I can think of like that is Zelda, and since you mentioned "harmless adventure games", I think you should go back and play the Resident Evil series again.. survival horror, IMO is not a harmless adventure game. Insofar as the console market being mostly older generations, that is a byproduct of the fact that kids don't have the market power to buy stuff, combined with the fact that 90% of games on systems other than GC being rated M, sports games aside. I for one, applaud the big N for having some cojones and going and making fun, innovative games, like Pikmin and Animal Crossing(BTW, I know more adults than kids that play that) which, if people would look for a game that's not just kill people break stuff.

However, after BI tanked out of it, and it went to activision that it was revised as being a separate story line. That's also why it released 6 months later. The orignal game would have allowed you to port in and convert your BG1/2 char into 3E DnD and play through the NWN storyline with all your characters from the other 2 games.
