Ok, so I'm not really tech support, but I do work at a gaming center with a LOT of PC's and xboxes, and at least once a day we have someone, on an xbox, come up and tell us that the TV is all black and they can't see anything. Usually we ask if the TV is on, and it ends at that, but every so often they insist that they tried the power button. I still haven't seen one where walking to the TV, and pressing the button myself hasn't fixed it.
So first they rename mountain view to "Google Land," then Google Land continues to grow untill it covers the entire planet and we all have Google Internet.
I know what you mean, but many of my friends, my school, and my job would all freak out if I ran it on one of their computers. Period. (I know it wont do anything to their system, but they don't.)
Oh well, some day in the future it will be nice when you can really go to any "public terminal," pop your thumb drive in, and have all your stuff right there, and secure.
All M$ stuff aside, my school ran a pilot network using Aruba Networks equipment last year (I was a senior at the time) that was utter trash. The stuff never ran, was constantly down, and their installation was one of their technicians duct taping 4 of their wireless repeaters in each room. The minimal research I did at the time made them look even worse, like a small start up company with a poorly made website, and almost no other mentions on the web.
Let's just hope they've learned some things from a high school with 300(ish) [student controlled, owned, and operated] laptops spread across a large sized high school in S. CA.
God we had a lot of fun pulling the cord ever so slightly loose so it wouldn't get power and they thought it was still plugged in.
Anyways, rants aside, best of luck to them and microsoft... I'd love to see it work, just to spite M$.
Is the issue your customers are having in the actual ajax, or is it just in some of the new javascript implemented. Some javascript (ie: moving a window off of the screen) requires "a signed script," which caused me a lot of trouble untill I figured that out. Also, if your ajax is trying to call a page on another domain (www.google.com and google.com are different, in the eyes of ajax, at least on my system), then that will likely create security issues.
The idea seems like a gimick to sell more on itms (look at all the sport mixes and crap they talk about on the Sync page). But going passed that, it would be cool to see what people can do with the 2.4ghz wireless adapter. I can't really forsee where that might go, but I am sure someone will think of something truely fun to do with it.
One last note... Why are they releasing this? iTunes 6.0.5 isnt out yet, and you can't buy the kit to hook up your shoes and iPod for a bit longer.
Forgive me if I am wrong, but doesn't windows have a bloated kernel? (I really know nothing about the internals of computers... but it would seem like this makes sense) Obviously it would seem that windows isn't so great when it comes to stability or security... So, lets learn from what windows did wrong, and break things down to small parts that are easier to work with, more secure, and everything everyone else voting for the micro kernel idea said.
Anyways, what do the Ubtuntu guys have to say about this? They seem to be doing pretty well...
Since when has the license stopped most people this far? Oh wait, I -dont- download music, and I swear I read that ToU agreement.
Seriously, we can add the driver in, then share details and code for others to do it. Seem's to follow the rules, right? Wait, on second thought, I don't care, my windows computer runs them, and Linux will never win over windows untill it can too. Let's do it!
Is it just me, or did that paragraph sound like it came, word for word, out of something the dude from "The Secret Life of ______"... Not that I have seen or even know if they did one on easter candy, but it sounded exactly like what he would say.
Anonymous Coward, obviously you missed the point. But, since we can't all be ub3r l337 5up3r hax0r'5, I'll just come right out and say it for you: The US government needs to fix its own security leaks and gaps before it has half a chance of stopping other people from selling its information.
As for the spelling of website and USB, well I think my signature covers that.
I am sure if you have enough time you can find it using google / archive.org. Of course, that assumes they didn't do the intellegent thing and delete those caches / search records.
Am I fond of our current presedent? No, but at the same time, even if I knew where that site is/was, I wouldn't get it out, because I've seen this adminiatration do worse to better people.
Forgive my little bit of flaming here... but what's new? Just yesterday we had an article saying that all kinds of information about air force one, from layout's (and secret service agent locations in the plane) to information on the counter measure systems it has. And that was on a government website.
Our government has a long way to go to fix it its own security issues before it can even start worry about outsiders compromising its security (I know there was another article recently about it scoring D's and F's in various departments...)
First, understand that I almost never leave my basement... This leads to two things, A) the lack of need for mobile computing (cell phone, etc), but is also at least partially responcible for the lack of meeting anyone of the opposite gender.
So... My PDA outlook: Bad. I wont be needing a cell phone, small laptop, Palm Pilot, Pocket PC, etc, and I highly doubt I will be taking part in any Public Displays of Affection either.
Now if only they did a smart PDA style device with quick access to the C++ libraries, or PHP documentation etc, I could fix any late night questions right from bed.
After yesterdays article about blue rings around everyones favoritely named planet, I accidentily read this articles title as "ESA sends space craft to peer at Uranus."
Thank god I double checked, the idea of huge phalic shaped rocket being launched towards myanus at high speed did not sound appealing to me!
I have a phone from verizon, and never noticed this issue, however I have seen that just before a call comes in, my CRT moniter kind of buzzes out and everything looks like its being shaken back and fourth for a second.
But I never like getting calls anyways, so I chucked my phone out the window in favor of prolonging my moniters life.
"Is there a slip of paper in your deposit box at the bank with websites, account names and passwords?"
Yes! It indicates something along the lines of destroy my computer and all of the data on it, format the disk, many many times, install crap over it (windows would work), format it again, then burn the damn thing before running it over with your car.
So, in short, my (insert the word data, but scratched out) pr0n is mine, not to be had by anyone else. Save your selfs and do what I said:-p
All joking aside? I don't have anything worth passing down. My email is a bunch of spam, and my more important files are pass codes to download things at tufat.com or similar things. Plus, the various programs I've downloaded and their keygens will probably be out dated. (Mr. FBI dude: This is just an example, I don't -really- have any of those horible thing...)
A few quotes come to mind "Use the Preview Button! Check those URLs!" Then there is the one after posting that says something like "than you should have used the preview button."
All joking asside though, we know now why Bush is in such a hurry to get to Mars, and further, I guess.
I found this a while ago helping my friend research web hosting companies:

Well, with a better name, I hope.

Haha. Sorry, they had it comming, even people laughing at them. Stupid script kiddies.
One more time for the road: Ha ha.
