Heh, I must have missed the part in the constitution where it changes the rules when dealing with music/movie companies.
I'd say it's about time to organize a mass boycott. One week where no one buys any music (CD's, iTunes, etc), listens to the radio, goes to the movies, buys DVD's, etc.

I didn't look through the code when you go to through the registration pages. But on the very first one it says "For your peace of mind, all information is securely collected on the next few pages."
I for one would think that means HTTPS, which I didn't see (http:/// url), and the little lock was missing!! But seriously, if they can't even make simple use of HTTPS when they say they are going to, how can I trust them to distribute my crappy music to others? Or how do I know any of my files are secure, for that matter.
Thanks, but no thanks.
(If they are using some other way of collecting the information "securly," feel free to reply and let me know)
Just an idea, buf there is a link like www.ebay.com, the browser should show a warning that your using a deceptive URL. I'm sure implementing a good way to handle that is another story though...
the web developer extension helps, and gives easy access to source code, window resizing, page information, as well as has many options for dealing with css, forms, images and javascript.
It was the first extension I ever got, and the first one I always install.
Oh, the flashblock extension is cool too. Altho either Flash 8 is broken in firefox, or that extension is messing it up. (I cant see flash things in FF anymore -.-)
To bad windows update installed that anti spyware crap of theirs for me. I think it called it the "Malicious Software Removal Tool." Oddly though, it has yet to bug me, but I suppose I should count my blessings. In any case, at best, all this shows is 18 million windows computers that run windows update regularly.
Someone should rip the audio files and put them on Bit Torrent, this way no one else will have to deal with that sony sh!t. Its pretty obvious that the governement is more concerned with protecting these big companies that its citizens, and if no one fights back, they will just keep pulling this crap, or worse.
I know nothing about Kernels, the internal workings of all OS's, etc, however it occured to me that your kernel has to just be a file or collection of files...
Why couldn't you get the md5 or sha1 hash of that file (or group of files), and then periodicaly recheck the files and compare the two. Of course you would probably have to redo the "initial" hashing after any official update (or does your kernel not change all that often? Like I said I have no idea about most of this).
That's all i've really thought of thus far, but thank you to the OP, this has been something I have been wondering about for quite a while and it would be cool to see a "complete" guide to detecting and fighting these kind of things.
No one else around here uses or understands linux at all, plus the permissions are a lot better/easier than windows. With linux, I just know that/home/scott/pr0n is safe...
(It was also tronic that this comes up today... I spent all day yesterday installing and trying FC4, SUSE10, and Ubuntu... Ubuntu wins)
Anyone care to fill me in on how my running a blog would put me in danger from online predators? Maybe if they would have banned chat rooms or IM, but this is just moronic.
Maybe schools should start teaching people common sense instead of just banning things in a random manner like this one. Use a little common sense and these "online predators" aren't a problem anymore. But no, lets just lock all of the kids up in small padded rooms and totally seperate them from the rest of humanity. That will solve the problem. That will protect them!
Each week we could have the "Walk of Asphyxia," where one person... will... be... voted... out... of... the... bubble (Insert Trump "Your Fired" hand motion here).
I think you missed the point, its not the ability to emulate it, its the experience... the DS offers a better experience than emulating it, which GBA, MAME, SNES, etc emulators do not.
I was simply pointing that out, and suggesting other industry's try the same line of thinking, weather or not it was intentional.
It really is no wonder that so many people flame all of the flamers here now.
(This starts off slightly off topic, but just bear with me a little bit) I'm really no expert here, but I know that these days everyone is complaining that someone is stealing their music, or movies, or something... Even their games, I bet. Let's face it, tech solutions like some new encryption won't last long, they havent historicly, and I see no reason for that to change. The same holds true to gameboy games. Untill now you could find some emulator and play any gameboy rom you could download, or even make from your gameboy games. I liked to say I was "demoing" the game, but the reality was that I wasn't about to run out, spend 200$ on the latest hand held system, and then pay 30$ for each game.
So where does the DS fit in? Well, I'd like to see you emulate it. With past game boys, you needed like 10ish buttons. Now, you need two screens, one of which needs to be touch screen, etc. Now like I said before, I am no expert, but emulating all of that would bea a huge pain in the butt and it still woudlnt work as well as owning the system.
Maybe Nintendo saw that games were next on the list of things people would pirate and decided to stop it before it started. Now let's see the music or movie industry come up with some new innovation that makes me want to own their product, and NO, I do NOT mean 500 hours of crap interviews, special features, or whatever you call it.
Hrmm, maybe those windows people are behind the times, but lots of people have already switched to Firefox, or at least away from IE. Seems he missed the memo.
I don't know if I would go so far as to say that I am boycotting IE, but I sure don't use it anymore.
The eight men were charged with copyright infringement in Charlotte, North Carolina, following two FBI investigations known as Operation FastLink and Operation Site Down.
Didn't opertion FastLink deal with child porn websites? I don't see what it has to do with the "warez scene"...
I wonder, how can someone who posts on slashdot not understand a 'Figure of Speech'
RTFP, First they state the arrests are ppl who were trading copyrighted files, then it talks about theives who download it and then sell the software(/games/movies/etc).
In my opinion, those are two completely different things. Sure, everyone "Trade's" Music, but downloading it, then selling it to someone is, in my opinion, a lot worse.
how someone can be an Acting Assistant Attorney General and not know the difference between theft and copyright infringement.
Sorry for the troll flaimbait here, but obviously you have no clue how our government works here in the Mighty USA. Look at George Bush... ('nuff said)
Before you trot out all your legal objections, just let me say that you now have a legitimate reason to talk with the cute girl three doors over you've ever met.

I play FFXI, you insensitive clod.
Seriously though, set it up as one of your "Communities."

that they were outlawing all Wifi? Why all the words to say the same thing?

Talk about the rat rights voilations (solitary confinement, cruel and unusual punishment, and even an execution)! I blame it on the Video Games.
Someone's been playing a bit to much Grand Theft Auto if you ask me...

Sorry, but the real thing is still probably easier to use.

Just my two cents.

Does it run Linux? Or maybe its one of those Mac OSX ones with all the purty eye candy.

Got my vote
And maybe they can get together with Infinium Labs and merge it with the Phantom game console.
Besides, its not like price will matter to anyone anyways...
