I for one do not see a problem with my setup, but then again I am using a PC as a Multimedia device with Satellite input, that shoots the audio out to a Digital Surround Receiver using Fiber optic output (via SB Audigy2), and my video is fed to a Sanyo Digital Projector via DVI connectors from a ATI 8500DV AIW (for a 107" screen). A Universe with more then 1 ship (ala Enterprise) where we are just stretching our arms and establishing our borders in Space. Maybe its the way I am doing my searches, but I seem to recall last year about this time doing some similar Research on New items and Was getting Manufacturers, Forums about, Tech info Sites about, Reviews, etc. Not anymore though, now I get Buy it here, or we have lower prices, or Best price on the Net, etc. I have just about given up using Google for any kind of serious research searching. I recently was in the market seeking a better alternative to the Cable companies offerings. I first tried to get Digital cable but due to my current resident arrangement, they would not sell me the service (no clue why, I wanted to pay for the digital service in a house that already had another standard cable service running) I was told I would have to get the current account to upgrade theirs in order for me to get it, so screw them, they don't want my money.

I next looked into the satellite offerings, after checking out all the local competition for selling these services, I choose one that had some special offers going, DishNetwork was my first choice because they had a better startup offer until they told me that I did not qualify for that special and that it would cost me almost $200 to get started with their service, oh and get this, they would offer me a $10.00 a month rebate until the ammount was covered. Needless to say I told them where they could stick their $200 up front costs.

I then decided to check and see if I could sign up with DirecTV or if they would offer the same BS, the price per package was slighty cheaper then DishNetwork's the ammount of Channels was more, and at the time of installation, if I didn't qualify, the most I would pay was $50.00, which is applied to the first bill I get.

I have lived in my current Residence for over 7 years, I have Established DSL/phone payments, Established Cable Broadband payments, but because I prefer to pay cash and not run up excessive ammounts of credit on CC's I did not qualify. DishNetwork did not want my money, Comcast cable did not want my money, to me this seems kind of stupid and self defeating.
And you people ask why someone would choose one company over another? IMHO DishNetwork and Comcast cable seem to think that they are offering you something special, when in reality, its the consumers that are offering the companies something special (namely their hard earned cash)

Paying $4.99 for a CD that I occasionally might listen to, well I would Purchase the CD. Buying a CD at $15.99 for the 1 song that I liked, Totally unreasonable, and staying away from a P2P setup I can still get the song and record it, ie. So now I guess they should start Sueing the radio stations for transmitting of copyright material.

Well, I might have a small bit of knowledge in this area, as I dupe like systems in various sized lots from 1's and 2's up to 50 - 80 units at a time. I have a ton of Dupe software, but if your one that does this Duplication on a frequent basis like I do, then the only solution is to get a hard drive mass duplication machine, currently I am using the ImageMasster 2000 by ICS. Other software that I have found useful and work well with W2K and WinXP, is Nortons Ghost 2002, DriveImage by powerquest.

The key is to create a Bootable CD (I have worked hard at the start of our venture to remove all Floppy Drives - waste of resources and useless) So the only way to boot a system other then through the HD is via Network or CD, Network has its advantages, but the CD is the best way to go. I create a bootable CD (there are several different types of Dos style boot images out there, I currently use an old Win98 Basic DOS boot, and PCDos) with Ghost on it and then boot with that CD and both HD's (be careful when doing this that you have the correct source and destination drives). I also did the same thing with DriveImage software though I only use that for really persistant and tough HD's. As this software takes far longer to Dupe, but does a pretty thorough job.

For really bad drives with images that can not be removed or repartitioned, I use a combo boot CD with AEFDisk on it (this little utility will repair or remove and partition you have set onto a HD's Disks).

Well good luck and I hope you haev found this of some use.

Ok, I had a plasma screen, and we use plasma screens and LCD screens, as well as projectors here at work, and I can tell you burn in is a HUGE issue, these people will be out of business after they get a lot of burn in screen issues thrown back at them, the easiest way to turn a $3,000-$10,000 plasma screen into junk is to display static images on it.

Another issue is life of plasma screen issues, plasma screens as well as other video devices have a set life time before failure or unusability, to constantly run your screen for extended periods of time for nothing other then a few pictures is a huge waste, the technology for this type of thing is still 3-5 years away, the OLED screens with the flexibility and thinness (creates wallpaper) is still in its infancy, but when then comes into its maturity, then displaying art via electronic means will be worth while.

Imagine the possibilities, wall paper the becomes your TV screen, or change the color of rooms, or turn a wall into a ocean view with sunset. Life will be good then for the digital media, until that time, its just not a very feasible idea to waste your power and money on something like this.
