Uh, I forgot to mention in the parent that Girlfriend of Steel 2 is based off that alternate-universe scene in the last episode. As far as I can tell, it's a romance/comedy for now, but NERV still exists, Gendo is still a bastard and Misato has the same bust :P, so action could come later.

For those who forgot, Rei isn't her usual cold self, but a complete opposite, but she still has some mystery about her. Misato's their teacher, Ritsuko seems to be the school nurse, Kaoru is still there with his homosexual tendancies, I *think* Shinji's mother is still alive (her name escapes me). Enough spoiling, go leech it now, from Studio ADTRW (they have BT, use them!).

And it's rumored this is getting made into an anime, so keep your eyes peeled.

I hope they don't put too much action in there and do something similar to Full Metal Panic 2, more romance/comedy, less action.

It's definitely one of the most influential anime of all time considering how much people it drove into therapy :)

For those NGE fanboys, Girlfriend of Steel 2 (the manga) is being scanslated by Studio ADTRW. I'm not direct-linking them in case I slashdot them. Use the BT links. 3 chapters have been released so far. And no, I don't work for them ;p

Aw hell, that reminds me of another thing I did back in grade 8...

I found the net send command one day, and everyone thought it was cool. So I created a program called "PandaMail" in VB (One of my friends loved pandas, for some reason). Hell, I even intergrated some registration thingy that required a key based on the username >:D. Soon it was distributed all over the school, but I only gave the working keys to people I actually had contact with. Nevertheless, I found out you could net send to workgroups the hard way... trial and error, of course :D

I was proud to say I got net send banned, the command console's locked out, security tightened up tighter than Fort Knox (taskbar removed, no desktop, yadda yadda yadda) and no detention! w00t!

Oh yeah, I was supposed to be moving to another school the end of that year, so I went and installed Counter-Strike on the computers in my classroom and the one upstairs on the second last day. As usual, we didn't get caught, people came from all over the school to have a go, and it was great! Until next year, when some people tried to play and got some detentions, but my friend only got a warning from the admins for playing. Guess we're special, huh? :)

  10. Another 'mistake' that got 40 students detentions on What is the Worst Tech Mistake You Ever Made? · · Score: 1, Interesting

Hoping that nobody that got the detentions or the sysadmins are reading this, but here goes:

I had read/write access on one of the folders on the public drives because I requested Apache and PHP for one of my assignments that other people wrote in notepad with all those annoying javascript tricks they ripped from sites and the IT staff couldn't figure out how to install it. So, they gave me a folder and I installed it myself. Needless to say, I think they forgot I had read/write access on that folder, and I started to hide various files in there, some legimate like Dev-C++. And some not so legimate like some games. Some I made myself, and some not (Like this really addictive game where you have to dodge all these little dots. Sounds simple, but aint, especially with some special dots that home in on you, 2x speed dots, etc etc. It was Japanese tho, but yeah, great game).

Anyway, like in the second-last week of school, they started catching people who were playing games. In one day, they caught 40-odd people, and thank God I wasn't one of them because I was too busy practicing for a coding competition. I was able to get out of my class to get into the computer room where another class that was the same grade was there, playing a game that involved insane amounts of clicking. It was so obvious, with all that mouse-clicking going on, why wouldn't the teacher notice? They were supposed to be working on javascript...

Anyway, the next day our grade had to go to the hall while a teacher called out student IDs... It's surprising people didn't hate me for that, heh :)

And I managed to get some more people in trouble after a really simple HTML page I coded that was able to show the photo and past subject details of a person when you gave it a student ID was passed around. Apparently it was confidential data, but there was this link on the school intranet that said "Student Profile" that let to a page that worked like mine, and it worked two years ago. They found out and removed the text box, but...

One day I was bored, and went to that page again and viewed the source and found a line that contained a hidden value in a form named 'student_id'. So I just coded a page that posted to the same page, with a textbox for student_id, and voila! It worked.

The original page had "Example of a SQL query in ASP" for the title, too. It's amazing how bad the IT department is at my school...

P.S. I haven't been caught for either of the events, yet :)

Oh, and I reckon Matrix 3 disappointed me. Stuff like DBZ fightscenes are far too unreal and the ending probably made fans feel like the fans that watched End of Evangelion, the creator(s) flipping the finger at the fans while saying "FUCK YOU!". At least most people survived in the Matrix. I didn't get to watch Kill Bill, so I'll probably grab that later on DVD. And did anyone else apart from me notice that the Neo vs 100 Smiths fight scene in Reloaded was sorta similar to xiaoxiao 3? It's just the original Full Metal Panic, without most of the serious stuff. For those who doesn't know, the original Full Metal Panic had Sagara Souske, a professional solider/teenager (with absolutely -zero- common sense and social skills) assigned to protect Chidori Kaname from the Russians because she is one of the 'Whispered', people who are born with 'Black' technology. Sagara is part of Mithril, a self-appointed military division.
Sosuke Sagara is an elite soldier who belongs to an independent special force named "Mithril". Mithril is a self appointed military force that fights terrorism across the globe. With technology that is far superior to that of normal nations, Mithril intercedes on behalf of justice. Sagara, a Second Lieutenant under Mithril's command, is assigned to the duty of protecting a girl named Kaname Chidori, who attends high school in Japan. To accomplish this task, he pretends to be a transfer student attending at Kaname's school. As Sagara settles into his new role as classmate, a massive plot unfolds beginning with the kidnapping of Chidori. What is Chidori's role in the conspiracy? Why does she seem to be born with knowledge of technology that has only been recently invented?
    (Taken from animenfo.com)

Full Metal Panic 2 (Also known as Full Metal Panic : Fumoffu) is more about Sagara and Chidori than about the whole Mithril thing. I mean, he blows up his shoebox with plastic explosives because he found a hair in front of his shoebox and thought that someone sent him a mailbomb, when in fact it was a love letter.

One of my favourite episodes was the Rugby one (ep 10), and it was aired just before the World Cup started. Turning a team of pansies into killers... bwahahahahahhaa

Anyhow, FMP2 is a great series and I suggest you check it out while it's still unlicensed. Also, FMP3 is rumored to be in the planning and will focus more of the military-side of things. Which I find very interesting as well. And if I didn't mention it eariler, FMP contains mecha called Arm Slaves (AS), and Souske is a good pilot of it. FMP2 contains a mechanized teddy bear costume named 'Bonta-kun', that Sousuke made himself after he stole the costume from a theme park, and he absolutely kicks ASS!
