It seems that, if Intelligent Design is taught as anything but sheer lunacy, the study of biology boils down to "God did it, and it's blasphemy to proclame otherwise!" I'm done. I'm done trying to figure it out. Anyone who believes in Intelligent Design doesn't have anything worthwile to contribute to any debate, so I will no longer debate them. They will receive only contempt.

What I do accept is that species change over time, not because I've been told they do, but because I've watched it occur. With my own eyes. In front of me. Now, tell me why I should ever listen to your half-baked, crackpot theory, I'm intrigued as to how it could possibly advance my understanding of the natural world. Until you can tell me that, I will continue thinking that you're an idiot.

What I fail to understand though, is why in your first post you stated that if ethics mattered no other country would do business with the US. I also believe the US has a long way to go before we are the bastion of freedom and democracy we say we are, but I think its also pretty clear that there are more than a few countries out there who need a lot more. I'm not saying America is the best, and I'm not saying we don't have our problems, but we are far from the worst. Work for change, vote the current administration out. Vote for what works if it comes to that, but remember that their are more than 2 choices. Maybe in 20 years we won't have elections that boil down to bad or worse. In conclusion, stop voting for Christians. They can't be trusted. Especially Protestants. Yup, I really believe that, wanna fight about it? If you don't like it, tell your friends to stop sabotaging education with Intelligent Design.

It's spelled laissez-faire, and that isn't what it means. If you read the definition you'll see that someone expecting federal aid is being anything but laissez-faire.

Now, that being said, I mostly agree with the NYT's point. It should have been the job of Louisiana and New Orleans to have plans in case of flooding of the Mississippi Delta and for the federal government to assist them in carrying them out. FEMA should exist, but local governments should bear the responsibility of planning for local disasters.

A similar correlation probably exists for both parents being incarcerated, and it may even have a genetic component. This is not caused solely and directly by genes inherited from the parents.
