    Just use a freaking UPC code. Don't cook up some kooky barcode scheme that includes the price. Use the manufacturer's UPC. Then you don't have to put all those stickers on and the clerk will notice if they scan an ipod and it rings up as a $4.99 box of tampons.

    I always figured he was the victorian equivalent of a pawn shop owner; just nasty about it. The guy still works in his own, single shop business, in a poor neighbourhood, lending to the locals.

    It's a parable about nastyness, greed, and being a workaholic, not about the rich.

    Wouldn't it be better for google to take the ClamAV base and extend/adapt it to their needs? I think that's more likely to happen than them starting from scratch unless there's something weird (aside from size) about the way their email system works.

    I hope it works with video4linux. I use an old (studio type) video camera and a video capture board (Bt878) that works with Video4Linux. If it uses Video4Linux, just about any webcam (almost) should work. That iSight suggestion is crazy though... $200 for a webcam? no.

    Person marks ballot with permanent marker (like the old multiple choice tests but not eraseable). Voting machine is a form reader with a ballot box underneath. This is how municipal elections are done in Nanaimo (and I presume most other municipalities in) BC, Canada. Federal and Provincial elections are still hand-counted with scrutineers seeing (and counting) every ballot.

    If you want to correct lighting in your home photos (even more nescesary than for pro photographers due to slow lenses, bad metering and on-camera flash with low-end digital point & shoots) you'd best do it in 16 bit mode (camera set to raw). Try cinepaint.
