    Also, burning hydrogen is mostly invisable. I have heard stories of truckers who haul hydrogen carry a straw broom with them so that they can wave it in from of them. The idea is that they will see the broom burning before they walk into the burning hydrogen.

    If the TV isn't yours, then deal with it. Also, if you have problems holding a conversation while one is nearby, then maybe the TV isn't the problem. Try to actually focus on NOT paying attention, or leave. Simple solutions that don't require money or interfering with other people.

    Who thinks that they should have done this to some extent a LONG time ago? Wouldn't it have saved millions (billions?) to have one big database between inteligence agencies since the get go? Redundancy isn't always a great thing.

    "There's not THAT much to have to support to just work on the average desktop..." Umm... what about the internals? Most of the external components are already covered as you said. It is all of the drivers for everything else that makes it hard. Just look at your system in windows and see exactly how many extra drivers windows loads to support just your machine.

    What about if someone only runs said program while they are logged on? This really then only affects their own computing, and they are technically using all the electricity anyway. I agree though, servers are a totally different thing.

    Maybe not the new Tom Clancy book, but what about when the next Harry Potter book comes out? As it is, people are insane about those books. And just because you "print" doesn't mean you use a printer. You could just "print" to a file and have yourself a nice little e-book.

    What about a large rail gun type of thing that can just shoot it into orbit (at the sun). This would keep things from blowing up, be relatively energy efficient, and promote more research in such fields. Just an idea that I have had for a while.

    I read that these new batteries are only good for about 300 charges. Doesn't that seem like a pretty small amount? I am sure that there are people out there who charge their laptop once a day. How would you like it if your battery only lasted one year?

    Looking at the chart in the article, it seems strange that the next closest rival to iTunes is Walmart. Didn't they just start their service a while back? Also, has anyone heard of someone getting music from walmart? It just seems strange is all.

    I'll tell you what I find refreshing. Comercials that are GREAT to watch. No, not just any comercials, the simple ones that play on the cartoon network's Adult Swim. They are always fresh, witty, and simple. Nothing is better than having a 30 second comercial that is just text. Simple easy to produce and keeps the fun alive during the breaks in Futurama and Family Guy.

    To all of those who responded with something about putting this technology in clothes: What is to stop this from happening now? for the most part clothing doesn't stretch as much as these wires do. The technology is here today for wiring up your clothes, just not for processing it in the fabric. Maybe before you think of wild uses for new technology, you should think about current ways that it could already be done.

    Another thing that is being overlooked is the strength and stability of the structure. I know that curves look cool, but they are hell for supporting weight or analysing the forces and moments created. If houses like this were to be built, the cost of designing a safe structure would be higher than it is now. Also, every structure would have to be analysed on a computer (more real life consequences of program errors!)

    You mean that this poster is COMPLAINING about requiring 911? Really, I think that this requirement is a no-brainer. I can just imagine working at a company that solely used VoIP that wasn't required to use 911.

    Amen! Being a Civil myself, I know all too well about the testing and safety factors that go into design. This goes back to a thread that I read here a while back about "software engineers" really not being engineers. In the words of one of my professors, "Engineers are paid to not be wrong. If they are only 'kind of' sure about their product, people get hurt; bulidings fall."

The only that you are missing is that the only way that it could be proven that MS stole code would be to have a source code leak. Whereas in the OSS world, everyone can readily see.

    Most of what you said is true, but really "boycotting classes." I would like to see someone try and do that and not end up paying more in the long run by either: 1) having to go to school longer. 2) switching schools/majors to a lower ranked (less income after graduation.

    I have thought this same thing about all of the DDoS viruses that have been around lately. Why is the date that the DDoS is supposed to start always a week+ after the news media proclaims it a "massive infection." It is almost like the writers just want publicity and not to actually do harm. It's not like wish that they would get their acts together, but it just strikes me as odd.

    I read about something like this a while back. It seemed that Microsoft's arguments were mostly about having NO operating system on a computer(and therefore a pirated version of windows being installed). So what Dell is doing is just putting the lowest form of an operating system on it to get around that argument. That is a good idea because I'm sure that not everyone would want what Dell put on (RedHat/Suse/...)
