I thought that the problem was that Firefox does not use ActiveX. I read somewhere the work arounds that you can do to get Firefox to support ActiveX and also to report itself as a different browser, but it wasn't worth the effort.
Isn't the fact that Google is already in the market a pretty big barrier to entry?
Sometimes I wonder how search engines other than Google are still around. I'm not talking about portals such as Yahoo or MSN. I'm talking about ones like HotBot.
It seems a little wierd to call it a page dedicated to their opensource projects. All the DIRC one serves as is link to their sourceforge project. Not too exciting.
The article makes it sound like these people just happened to buy it. Everyone knows how tight the security is supposed to be. There are news stories about it on the evening news. And since it says that the books were purchased, not stolen, wouldn't it be easy to have something in the computer that shows a warning when the book is scanned at checkout?
Why is it so hard to make phones that other people can hear you with, and you can hear them. In almost every review of cell phones, there is something said about the quality of the sound. This isn't rocket science. You need a speaker that is clear and volume that can be adjusted.
There is the Google Page Rank Status extension that does the page rank. I don't have the link at the moment, but of course a google search will find it
Sounds pretty low to me. Insurance should pay at least that much depending on the value. And considering how easy it would be to stop this sort of thing if it was only software based, it just sounds like an extra insurance plan.
Or there is always Monowall.
It is based on *BSD and the most important feature
is that it is the only stand alone firewall
that also can use a wireless card as an AP.
Maybe there isnt a need with Seti, but there is a need for Folding@Home. Personally, I think that if you are going to donate for something like this, it shold help humanity (cures for diseases) not just to prove one side or the other of the questions "Are we alone?"
Closing down BitTorrent sites has nothing to do with "one hand not knowing what the other is doing."
That is like saying police seizing illegal guns is a case of "one hand doesn't know what the other is doing." Just because they are going after the illegal portion doesn't mean that there are not legal ways.
The fact that BitTorrent sites are so popular for downloading illegal movies shows that they could be popular for downloading legal (DRM'd of course)movies.
First, if you are that worried about your download limit, then why don't you just use a text based browser? Or even just stop searching constantly.
Second, as someone above mentioned, google only does this for certain searches. Not every crazy search is going to be prefetched.
I have always had a problem with this. OO never worked that way for me. I could open the.xls file fine, but after saving it, excel would show garbage in every cell that had an equation. This was with 1.1.2. I just installed.4 and I haven't had a chance to test it yet.
I just hope that the call centers know about every microsoft sponsored licensing program.
I don't want the call center to give me a hard time just because microsoft had some special deal with my school and it sounds funny when I tell them that I just got windows for free.
Can I now get a bluetooth headset and have all the advantages of a cordless phone?
The website mentions headsets, but there is nothing about bluetooth.

"...ignore most of the native widget drawing capability in the name of creating a pointlessly slick, cross-OS-consistent experience."
Make up your mind. Is consistiency good or bad?

Now that is a thrill ride!
Exactly.

Isn't it sad when an entire article can fit into a post without having a Read More at the end of it?
You mean like a thermostat?
low profit ... but HIGH MARGIN
Doesn't high margin imply high profit?
And don't forget long-winded. That is why I stopped reading.
Who gets to control the thermostat?

And how much time/money can be attributed to email?
That number should be MUCH higher than that. And everyday also.
Armies and their like have millions of guns that will never be used for recreational use.
That skews the numbers a little bit also.
I don't know how well it works, but there is always: spam@uce.gov It is the FTC's official phishing reporting address. http://www.usdoj.gov/spam.htm

How is this going to affect the download stats? Will we now have double the numbers because everyone has to download it again?
