You might switch to another platform to see the news and information that you signed up to see, but are no longer getting from your platform. These are not 'ads' they are something else.
I gotta say, you really seemed to have missed the point.
I would much prefer to sit on the couch, and play a shooter on the 60" against other people sitting on their couches, with the exact same hardware that I have. Even if it means I can't aim quite as good as I could with the keyboard and mouse. But not if the games on my pc look so much better.
No, you simply don't tax basic necessities. You don't tax utilities, food, and public transit. Things people need to function in modern society, and take part in democracy/government.
You sales tax everything else, and things with a social cost, like drugs and alcohol more. (I would also argue luxuries at a higher rate, but that's the commie in me.)
Market Value is exactly the problem. Covering 98% would mean covering an awful lot of territory that doesn't have enough customers to make it worthwhile.

Yep, because twitter and facebook are not about reading (or information gathering) they are about self expression. Everyone's a writer nowadays, nobody is reading...
People aren't willing to pay for healthy... THAT is the problem. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a boatload more expensive the subsidized high fructose corn syrup, and processed industrial food.
I will only point out that Hubble would have been a complete failure, without the shuttle. The reason to have a manned space program, is entirely about the unforeseen.
When we do need to send Bruce Willis up to the asteroid to blow it out of the way, we are really going to wish we had a suitable manned space program.
So, we'll solve the problem that was created because we can't safely perform drilling operations at these depths, by doing more drilling operations at these depths?
I think there are plenty of reasons to be freaked out, even completely discounting this article.
I mean, first of all, no one knows what they are going to do to solve the problem. Even the small estimates are still HUGE.
Any solution almost certainly means drilling relief wells, except, we obviously can't operate safely at these depths.
And then there's the whole fact that a few megacorporations, through business as usual, no cost to society (or in this case humanity) bullshit, has imposed this on us.
Surprised? I think not... It's either a company that can't compete in the free market, or a church.

I bet there's a business case for Han shooting first again...
Fear leads to anger...
As if radio waves had borders...
Repost cuz I can't stand being a coward:
Why is it that I can't just put one in my pocket and go through the machine to find out?
You know, For Science!

Ya, but UltraEdit is now available on the Mac.
Oh well, I'm sure another reason to not give up the Space Shuttle program will present itself shortly.
And they still can mark them as Tier II carriers.

Line item veto. One of the few things I think Reagan was right about.

Do developers think a pay portal is worth 30%?
Sounds like she's planning to invade Europe.
It's just good concept, bad writers.
Whedon could have done it, but then peeps you liked would have actually died.
It's 'for all intents and purposes'.

That is called magic...

This is how ketchup became a vegetable.

You would prefer struggle? Defend? What would you prefer?
It is, because it is. What do you call it when someone is trying to take something you already have, away from you?

Agreed. I've worked in a shared space, a cube, and an office.
The office is the best.
