As someone else said, "ALPHA is gone. MIPS is only used in embedded devices. Itanium and POWER are strictly legacy products. And yet people still believe that SPARC can survive in the server space."

The cpu markets is headed to support only two kinds of microprocessor: ARM where there is restrictions on power consumption and x86-64 everywhere else. Is there really a viable market for specialised CPUs?

Oracle still makes sparc servers but no sparc workstations as I know of. So, do these chips get somewhere else? And the following question is why one would want a sparc server in the first place?

Liberal party is NOT a leftist party. It's a non-ideological party that will push anything that will put them in power. Most of the time, they occupy the 'center' and don't frighten the right nor the left. For that reason they have been in power for most of the existence of Canada.

NPD or Green party can't merge with Liberal party simply because they are leftist and Liberal party isn't.

Netbook don't need to be powerful. It's mostly about PORTABILITY and PRICE.

-Screen: 640x480 monochrome (no backlite that screw battery). That's more than enough to look at what your doing.

-Processor: Low power ARM. No need for x86.

-Sound: No internal speaker. A headphone plug is all it needs to play a few mp3.

-Storage: No internal storage. Useless. What is needed is two sdcard readers. The first one for the root filesystem and the second one for user data.

-Connections: 802.11 is a must in any netbook nowaday. 2 USB to add periphericals. Headphone. That's all.

    -Operating systems: Linux, Linux, Linux.

-Battery life: You can add a bit of weight to add to battery life. I say it need at least 12 hours of battery life but the best would be 30h+ (maybe with 802.11 disabled).

-Every pieces of hardware should be fully documented for the hobbyists who want to play with the thing.

This thing would be powerful enough for:

    - instant messenging
    - a little bit of browsing
    - mail
    - word processing
    - agenda
    - minesweeper, commander keen, gameboy-style game.
    - ect.
