While I agree, if you watch the google slashdot articles there are 2 camps, the ones that love them, and the ones who think that google will have too much power with all their advertising and information on each person using their services, this is the tinfoil crowd.
And then there are the people who were tinfoil freaks but are addicted to google and they are having a crisis like a 13 yr old gay son of 2 ultra christian conservative parents.
Again, the purpose of writing a java app is not to milk out top efficiency, but to "write once, run everywhere" as Sun would say.
Given that there are windows, and mac and then a thousand different linux distros, I can see why they chose a java version.
"Azureus, as an application, totally rules. It would be excellent in C or even python."
See if they were constantly worried about porting issues and compiling 80 versions of their code, and doing tech support for those that want to compile on their own, the application wouldnt be as developed as it is today.
I think that your solution solves his problem by saturating the entire network, bringing it to a low avg but possibly a best worst case than he currently has.
I believe the human mind has more to do with the structure of the human brain than with the make of of human brain cells which are probably very close to any other brain cell type.
However our brain has many and larger structures than do other animals.
So the chances of a human being trapped in a sheeps body is rather unlikly even if it had 100% human brain cells.
As they have already done with mice, I believe.
Disclaimer I'm assuming this is the same article I read the other day on chimeras (not through slashdot)
Turns out a few episodes ago they explain what happened to Klingons; a genetic disease that apparently wasnt able to be removed until the early 24th century.
there was some talk of AOL buying deadaim... lost track of that, I used the last client that still works with the latest deadaim, that bastard hasn't released a new version in forever.
While I generally agree with you I must mention that there are some GREAT professors.
I've had maybe 4 and they have all been in CS. They tend to have a background in education whether that was actually teaching at a high school or just having an education degree in addition to their CS/Math degrees.
Being a professor means one thing, they are smart and jumped through all the academia hoops.
Online stores have found this out too. People want to know the price right away. If they cant find it in 5 seconds they move on. Thats why most stores have switched to "free" shipping or flat rate. In the free case the flat rate is just built into the price.
As a consumer I know I could possibly save A LITTLE money if it were an exact shipping quote, but it is such a pain in the ass when you are doing comparitive shopping. I might have to sign up for an account and enter my address before I can even find out what the thing will fully cost me. In those cases I move on.
high shipping is a way to get around ebay final value fees. Its not like if they lowered the shipping amount the end prices would stay the same. they would go up becuase everyone alreayd takes shipping into account.
That country willingly sold off (possibly leased?)its rights to the.tv domain. Its poor population was much better served by that transaction than reserving.tv domains for its citizens.
The market put a price on.tv. The government of Tuvalu said CHA-CHING! Everyone is happy and everyone benefits.
you might want to look up the job description of a SENATOR. She is a federal employee not a New York employee and even if she was she isnt in charge of anything except maybe some comittees in the Senate but thats even doubtful because as far as I know all the commitees are led by republicans (one of the perks of being the majority) New York is run by a GOVERNOR last I checked he was a Republican.
Most driver CD's and such only take up a small portion of the disc.
I normally take as many of them as I can, copy the files over to my hard drive in a folder. Remove any IE install folders or Quicktime, or Direct X. Then once you reach 700 MB Burn it to a disc.
Store the original disc in a box who cares about it anymore, you could probably throw it away. (Not to mention most drivers can be gotten from the internet in a more up to date version anyways). And then write all the things on the compilation CD on its label.
Keep your compilation CD's stored in a good CD case.
I know this isn't exactly the proper place to discuss this.
Could you explain why i was wrong about the analysis?
Looking at the money-rates site, i would have to lock away my money for 6 months to get in the 3.25% apy range. And on most of the banks you do have to have 1k, 2k, 5k, or even 10k deposited.
While I have $5000+ from savings over my life it is what I live off of while I'm at school (daily expenses, parents, or more like loans, pay my tuition and rent) and so I cant lock away my money in a CD. It is needed daily (well monthly when I pay off my credit card bill, which I try to use all the time to build credit, don't worry I pay the bitch off each month)
And given that the interest rate on the MMAs have been rising steadily (as have CDs) wouldn't it be best to ride the wave jumping instead of getting a slightly higher rate now, but keeping it for 6 months when by then my MMA rate will have increased atleast 1% higher.
I check there money market accounts weekly if not daily, and always have my money in on of the top 5 banks on there MMA list. Currently the best rate is 3.25%. Great for people who don't have a lot of money and don't know how long its going to be there.
MMAs are more liquid than CDs and, if you look at the rates, actually provide a better rate of return unless you are willing to lock your money away for a year or more in a CD and often requiring at least 5 or 10 thousand dollars for a CD.
Also to all the paypal users out there, the money market fund they have is only pulling 2.4% and its uninsured. Move your money out of paypal as quickly as possible to a bank with better returns.
Paypal will draw from your bank account if you don't have enough funds, so you might as well keep them in a place where they earn more interest.
To be fair, the upload speeds on the average broadband connection havent increased nearly as dramatically as the download speeds. I realise voip is still a drop in the bucket, but if you are doing other things that bucket gets more and more full.
So if it turns out CherryOS didn infact use some gpl code, do the developers not only get to sue for monetary awards but also dont they get access to all the "improvements" code that cherryOS dev's wrote as well?
You know I keep hearing that but I dont see any poor doctors....strange.
And I have never heard of a doctor who actually stopped being a doctor because he was losing money.
Nor have I heard of any aspiring doctors change their minds on wanting to be one, cus they all know they will be doing somethign greaat, and make a boat load of money on it.
My brother's girlfirend's father is a Bone Surgeon (I think the leg) he bitches about insurance costs and all this crap yet he is still fucking rediculously rich.
Whether you believe that is a good thing are not is irrelevant.
You were trying to make a business point on what they should have done with their money, but the way I see it, everyone involved was laughing at you on the way to the bank with their giant money bags spilling across the street and not caring because they had so freakin' much.
While surely new actors wouldn't be 300 lbs beasts, you actually argue against yourself in saying that they should get new actors, but then also stating that the only reason people watched the show was because of the current actors.
more than likly it will reaffirm it. Nintendo isnt about razzle dazzzle market share, they found their niche, its profitable, and they like it that way. So I doubt they will change any of their core strategies for the next generation.

do you mean slow as in UI performance or slow downloads?

As it is technically licensed under the GPL.

Probably because many millions of people think you are an elitist bastard and actually enjoyed watching the show.
Not that I am an fan of friends, I never really watched the show...
