To everyone else who is as angry about this as me, check out this petiton someone on Blue's News started. Hopefully this exclusive deal "folds faster than an overcaffeinated origami artist." (and if you get that reference you should definitely be signing it)
Stars is f'ing AWESOME! The closest thing to intergalactic Civilization i've seen yet. It's too bad that Stars! Supernova seems to be in publisher limbo.
I'd like if they would at least try and implement some kind of party system. I always felt kind of lonely ambling through mountains and swamps and dungeons all on my own in Morrowind and daggerfall, although maybe that's just because I mostly play jrpg's.

Don't worry, the RIAA has an invisible touch YEAH!
It's probably more of a bandwidth control issue than anything else - for example, if every gmail subscriber pinged into their server every 30 seconds, they would be done for.
Looks like a really nice phone! All the wizbang features and it actually looks cool, unlike a lot of the phones in the retailer's display cases these days. The article says it 's availible for AT&T wireless (which a/. article a few weeks back basically said was the worst carrier around).. as a contract slave to Verizon for another year and a half or so, do you think I'd be able to get it to work on their network?
As an intern, I'm offended by this statement. Just kidding.
Seriously though, Robert Harris is important enough to have been mentioned in Masters of Doom, so he must be doing something useful for his employers. Unlike myself.
Yeah, for some reason I missed out on all the Q2/Q3 mods, even though i bought them both. But Quake 1 was simple enough to mod that some really cool stuff could be done with it pretty simply. I think my favorite three mods were Requiem, which was a weapons mod but it had a bot built in which was nice because I was on a 14.4 at the time or something (I think that now my celphone has a better modem in it than that), the superhero mod where you could pick three superpowers (similar to a few games that have come out recently, but it was fun to be able to cloak yourself, or teleport, or grapple or shoot fireballs or whatever in that huge low-grav level) and AirQuake, which let you fly a little plane around and shoot shit up. Hopefully some imaginative mods come out for Doom 3, especially once the average hardware level picks up and we can start to see some huge levels. (any new maps out yet btw?)
I hope they come out with Castlevania 3 on GBA at some point. That was one of the first few games I played on the NES.. I have fond memories of playing it at a demo station at EB or someplace, and don't think I ever beat it. I remember renting it a ton, and getting each of the different guys at different points, and being really awed at the fact that I could get those different guys. (Let me try and remember - grant could climb walls and shit but had a tiny little knife, the mage dude could shoot magic all the way across the screen, and allucard could turn into a bat or something) I don't think I ever beat it. Nobody would confuse the castlevanias with Megaman for example, CV games are tough as hell, especially with the lack of ability to shift your dude's momentum while he's jumping.
HIGH SCHOOL COUNCILOR: So, Johnny, what are your hobbies or interests?
JOHNNY Q. HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR: I like to play Madden and Halo a lot.
HIGH SCHOOL COUNCILOR: Well, maybe you should go into Computer Science and become a programmer. Good money you know.
JOHNNY: Sweeeeeet.
one year later
REGISTRAR: Yes, Johnny, how can I help you?
JOHNNY: Who do I see about changing my major?!?!
Seriously, I got into CS because I liked screwing around on computers and knew how to build them and stuff. My first year programming classes were pretty interesting, too, but ever since we got into all the crazy computer architecture and stuff, I've pretty much hated it. If I had it to do all over again, I'd do either MIS/CIS or something like history and just try and get some certs and break into the industry that way. Too late now though I guess, I'm a senior.
I've been using Gaim under windows for a while, and it's pretty stable (as of version.79,.80 craps on me with a GTK error) and has a ton of great features. My only complaints are that you have to keep the window pretty wide horizontally in order to avoid having a scrollbar on the bottom, and that your saved away messages should be only one click away rather than nested inside the away button menu, and also I'd like if you could have the option to shrink the buddy icons in the buddy list if you choose to view them there. Other than those niggles i think that it's a fantastic program, it's been running on my computer nearly nonstop since April or so, and best of all no ads or spyware! I should try and download the source and do something about those little things.
Either that or both memory banks would be used as one and the SLI bridge (probably) or the PCIe bus (probably not) would allow either GPU to access memory on its own or the other physical video card. Either way this will give budget-minded users more options in a few years when these cards are $199 each and the GeForce OMFG9000 is out for $500.
GOD FORBID you have to actually REFORMAT YOUR C DRIVE. OH the HUMANITY!!!.. Seriously, if you use Linux, you probably are going to need to configure it all up a lot anyway, so you might as well just install it. The only real complaint here is that you have to pay the "Microsoft Tax," for the OS which you may or may not be even using, but this is a constant with ALL pre-built computers, so the only way to avoid it would be to build your own damn machine, which will probably be more cost-effective, reliable, and gosh-darnit fun anyway.
Actually any true "whovian" will know that the best way to disable a Dalek was when he would put his hat on the Dalek's eye stalk, blinding it. And, that hat was a Fedora... hmmm...
Frontier - Best episode ever. For that 4 hours or so, Doctor Who was turned into a DS9-like political space war drama.
I honestly think the Ppertwee episodes were just as good as a lot of the Tom Baker episodes. Unfortunately, PBS up here (NHPTV) tends to only show Tom Baker, although for a good 3-4 years they started with hartnell and showed every episode in order, up until the Colin Baker episodes where they went out of order and ended up going back to the Tom Baker series.
They need to come out with a 24-7 Doctor Who webcast or cable channel! (hell, FX showed MASH almost incessantly for two years and it did fine) I'm gonna have to dig up my old tape of Spearhead from Space and give it a watch sometime soon!
Absolutley insightful. I got sick of Alliance within about 3 missions. Flying the millenium falcon just doesn't do it for me when I was used to flying the xwing and tie fighters, not to mention the badass craft of Wing Commander 2.
I liked the Sonic "X-Treme" article they have on this site as well. Sounds like Sega was a real mess back then. It's suprising the Dreamcast turned out to be a great system, but i guess not so surprising that it folded.
Can someone reccomend some actually GOOD free homebrew games for DC? Last time I checked, they all seemed to be either all abandoned in 2002 or just crappy versions of Tetris or things along those lines.
Dating yourself? Well at least you'll always know when your date will put out. (OT thread, but fun)

I should move to France, I'd be a model worker!

Any direct link (ftp/http) mirrors for this yet? My bittorent doesn't work and my autoupdate isn't popping up yet either..
Maybe your standards are too high?

No, the first _9_ levels, out of 27. There would eventually be a new episode added with another 9 levels, as well. Know your roots.
Lance actually took the Armstrong name from an adoptive father he had for a while around age 6 or so.. sorry, he's probably not in that genetic line.
