Call me back when they have released something based on version 5.0 that "works" with Linux. Right now, the newly released 5.0 series is broken on Linux. It will cause your machine to lockup on most kernel versions used by Linux distros. Apparently, according to the authors of Truecrypt, they require you to upgrade to the latest release of the Linux kernel, which may not be an option for most of us.

Secondly, even if you were able to make it work the Linux kernel on your machine, the new FUSE-based Truecrypt 5.0 series is only 1/20-1/10 of the speed I get from the 4.x series. From 20-40 MB/s, now I only get 1-5 MB/s.

I am now considering to switch to dmcrypt+luks.

Well, since there is news that the latest PSP firmware already has a built-in ISO loader, I hope Sony would make the PSP to cache the UMD on the Memory Stick. And by cache, I mean rip/copy the whole UMD to the Memory Stick. I don't care if that copy will be locked on a parituclar PSP (you still have the original UMD anyway) as long as I can rung the game that I bought from the Memory Stick so that games would load faster and that my PSP would have longer battery life.

There is a solution to the problem that will owrk most of the time. If you already have your phone and headset paired, then just turn off your phone's and headset's Bluetooth visibility setting. When this is turned on, basically, the device is broadcasting its ID so that you can pair or send stuff to that device. You only need this turned on when you are pairing devices or trying to send data to/from devices that don't know each other (for example, sending contact information or pictures).

My cell phone is used to call people and for them them to call me.

I really hate it when I always read this statement in Slashdot. Folks, the device we used to know that is only used to talk by void to people is evolving into an all-in-one communication and information device. If you really don't accept these, well I guess you're also the type of person who refuse to use a GUI because all I need is to do my work by typing stuff so a VT100 terminal is sufficient. Get over it people!

And if you really don't want those "smart phones", you could still buy a basic mobile phone unless you live in US of A where mobile phone technology is crappy even when compared to some third world countries.

Lighter, as other posters said, you could basically reduce the amount of cooling gear needed. As for smarter, well maybe it means you can probably more computing power in the car. This could actually mean more precise control of the car's internals so that you could get more horsepower or speed, even if it's only a fraction of a percent, just like what most overclockes do with their PCs. Could also mean the car's electronics may be able to operate on more extreme conditions because heat, as we know it has negative effects on a transistor's performance.
