You have the drift control, it's basically hop without the hop. Using it effectively still helps your speed out a ton, just doesn't look as fun, I suppose.
Banning things with a high demand is silly too. We can see that banning certain drugs has kept the US city streets free of drug users. Prostitution is full under control, there are no murders, and nobody ever speeds.
That's right, apparently bad bad Leroy Brown here thinks that we should stop the evil government ban on murders. That is a silly law, right along the same lines as speeding.
In all honesty, I grew up on those same shows, and have received one ticket in my own life. You're right, it is a moral judgement, but it's also how much your entertainment/all external world affects you individually. In your case I would say quite a bit, in my case I would say not much.
Easily countered by putting enough spin on the ball... sorry fella's, I'm going to kick that computer's (read, wall) ass every time, I am the Gary Kasparov of tennis!!! Or something... maybe it's just sad that I'm thinking about this.
The EA and ESPN Hockey games were made for two totally different types of hockey fan, and I must say that both of them hit their mark. ESPN Hockey is absolutely amazing in the strategy involved, but not all hockey fans will appreciate that. Some people just want to blaze down the ice and put the puck in the net. That's what EA is there for. I personally opted for both, because I'm a huge hockey fan and when I'm in different moods I'll play the different versions of the game.
And hey, I didn't mind the commentary in NHL 2003. In fact, my roommates and I have played the game dang near religiously for about the last year and suprisingly I still hear new comments that make me laugh. I don't think anything said is too incredibly insulting to the players. Anything in particular piss you off? The worst I could think of is making fun of hits or saying, "Oh, look at Mr. Fancy Pants." Neither one really made me want to write in, though.
But you should only release the demo if you've already developed the game to the point that it's going to rock. Many a good game has been ruined by releasing a crappy demo. People play the demo, see it sucks, and never try the real game, whether it's good or not. Good development is the key.
Well, I bought a virtual boy, and have no intentions of buying an ngage. With how tiny the numbers are on the sales of either of these systems, the fact that I bought one and not the other may actually be considered significant. That's just sad...
After reading some of the responses from the 10-13 year olds, I think that some of the conversation has been dramaticized for the article. I hope so, otherwise the youth of America has excellent vocabulary, but only uses it for profanity and dripping sarcasm.
That's assuming Hollywood is all about the special effects (sadly, it almost is anymore). You could probably make Star Wars in an afternoon at home now. Even I, who am not a tech wizard by any means, know how to make a light saber with a little photoshop skill. It's just a matter of using the technology to imagine and render something completely amazing and full of talent. The special effects should just be icing on the cake. Hollywood still has to have the talent in acting and screenplay writing. Plus, there will always be new multimillion dollar technology to wow you out of the theatre.
What, the mac has games?!?! Those Chinese kids definitely know something that I don't.
By the way, Nintendo is not dead. I won't get into the arguments (profits on the consoles, GBA, piles of stored cash) because they've been done to death here. Of course, I'm not totally aware of the situation in China, but I have a hard time believing that the X-Box is just blowing it away there, or Microsoft would have some loaded press release out about it and the death of Nintendo there.
Funny, cuz I thought Link was the best choice they could have made. He looks awesome within the Soul Caliber world, just ahead of Spawn on the X-Box. I think the public disagrees with you though, since SC2 for GC has totally outsold the PS2 version hands down, despite having fewer consoles on the market.
I totally agree with the gamecube being the most reliable system. I used to work at a K-Mart and set up the three console displays when the battle began. Very soon after the X-Box was freezing on a regular basis. Not long after that the PS2 had a disc read error problem. Both systems had to be replaced. However, the gamecube kept chugging along without a glitch. Just seems to be a well made system. That's one of my main problems with the PS2, Sony didn't seem to put too much effort into making it a durable system. I've had several friends who had to send their console back to replace the laser, and a couple who just got screwed cuz their warranty ran out. I like my dependable gamecube, like to know my investment will be around for a while after the warranty expires.
Something tells me you must be a PS2 owner, otherwise you probably wouldn't be totally thrilled about GTA4 on the PS2. I am, for one, kind of dissapointed about it. I think if the next GTA were released first for the X Box, the graphics would be tweaked to take advantage of the system. Not that it would affect gameplay any, but prettier can be better if they keep the fundamental fun of the game. On a side note, did Rockstar ever say that the x-box version of vice city would be tweaked to take advantage of the power, or are you just assuming it isn't a straight port? I think if the graphics are improved, rockstar may be in for yet another boatload of money from people that love the game enough to purchase the "best one."

You realize of course that just because it's ported to the cube that you don't have to buy it, right? Quite frankly, I think Nintendo would be wise to try to get the GTA games on their system. Lots of people on here seem to whine that Nintendo needs to lose the kiddie image. This would be a great way to do it: release a well made game that has an adult rating. Of course they've done that with Eternal Darkness (probably my favorite cube game yet) the Resident Evil games, etc. But releasing a GTA game would probably be a high publicity way of getting the older crowd to look twice at the cube.

They're never go after wine or starcraft emulator because you need a working version of their games with a cd key that you PURCHASED from them. The reason they went after freecraft is because it was easy to play on without a cd key. It hurt their bottom line, and I say good for them that they shut it down. Blizzard is one of the few conmpanies that produces quality games on each and every release (wel, almost, Diablo 2 didn't really do it for me) and they deserve every dime they make. I am glad they shut down a service that allowed freeloaders to profit off their hard work.

Tell me when that game is coming out!!!! Too bad tennis is so limiting that you can't really justify getting it LAN functional. Mario tennis is so much fun that even those that have never touched a tennis racket love it, especially multi-player. Great college drinking game, the big N can't release it fast enough.

Those bulbs are ultra sensitive, even with their long lamp life. One bump may or may not destroy it, then you are out of some cash. I think he means 200 bucks too. Projection systems are probably not something that you want to invest in when you have kids under the age of 12... or if you ever leave your kids above the age of 12 home alone in the house. It's bound to cost you $$$$$.

I hope not. Saving Jessica Lynch or killing the Husseins, being in the action is really nothing like what a video game should be, from what I hear. It's not the drama and pace that most of us look for in a game. Plus, capitalizing on these war stories sickens me just a little bit too.

This is the problem though, people seem to think of GC as a last resort, even though I hear narrative after narrative like this of it being the best system. Nintendo somehow needs to get in the minds of the people more. How they do that, I don't know, when the mindset of most people and the media is PS2/XBOX.

Anyone else find those graphs to be set up in a very hard way to comprehend. Having % of revenue along the y-axis and company color coded like that didn't seem to make sense to me. It was hard to tell which console was providing the larger chunks of revenue, since he had gamecube right on top of x-box. I don't know, I just think that there must be a better way to set it up. Still interesting though.

So what are the best sites to check out the indie gaming scene on? Gamespot and all those don't quite cut it. Is there an underground game review site that I'm missing?
Hed.
Quite frankly, the market is totally saturated. Yes, people will buy two or even three game consoles, but that's not so with handhelds, I don't think. With everyone and their dog owning a GBA, and everyone else much more excited about the PSP than this, no amount of good reviews are going to matter, even if it is a good system.
