As I heard it, they weren't supposed to go into the Constitution in any particular order (1 being most important, 10 being least ?). Apparently Madison, or whoever was in charge of the process, had the idea that the Amendments would be "cut and pasted" into their appropriate sections of the original document.
I thought astroturfing was fake grassroots efforts. Meaning that something like an organization (say Microsoft, PETA, or IBM) pose as a large number of people to influence legislatures. However, making people aware of issues is part of grassroots, so... uh...
Wouldn't it just make it easier to outlaw lying about who you are?
I believe in a few LucasArts adventures you could die (Full Throttle and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis come to mind, though dying was rare and easily recoverable).
Well, the U.S. and others would like to give North Korea food, but we need assurances that it will be properly distributed. Kim Jong-il apparently has a habit of not feeding people he considers enemies. He may also sell some food on the open market for cash. Since North Korea is reluctant to let supervisors in, the food cannot be given.
How much in taxes does Wall Street pay versus the other workers? Since we don't have a flat tax, Wall Street probably paid more. (Of course, those workers would end up paying more in sales taxes.)
Heating water in a microwave has always been bizarre to me as well. The first I'd heard of it was on some sort of news special/warning about "bursting" water (water heated in a microwave bursting when the surface tension is broken). For instant oatmeal, Cup o' Noodles soup, and the like, I've always used an electic or stove-heated kettle/teapot.
Communists and anarchists always seem to show up saying that such movies (like the Matrix) support their viewpoints, therefore everyone should embrace communism/anarchy.
I checked the Wikipedia article on D.C. and it said handguns have been essentially banned since 1977. That's a lot of time for the crime rate to peak and fall.
I just want to point out that it is sometimes the politicians who extort lobbyists. Since politicians have the power to regulate the hell out of almost any business, they can threaten corporations with all sorts of bills. Once a large donation is made to their re-election campaign, those bills can go away.
The reason for no good bars, I believe, is because Utah has some rather strict alcohol laws. Restaurants/bars are heavily restricted in how much alcohol they can give a customer and thus it is difficult to get drunk. I believe the religious rules of the Mormons had something to do with it.
I think "turn the other cheek" only applied to insults and the like. It works okay in certain situations, but will utterly fail in others (such as being stabbed). Perhaps it was to stop "bad blood" from brewing.
I don't think that the arguments are so much that the Earth is warming in of itself. Rather, the concern is that warming will be cataclysmic and the only way to stop it is a near-suicidal change in civilization. It's kind of like wilfully cutting of your legs to save your life. People have done it, but most people probably wouldn't chose it unless all alternatives were exhausted.
If the change is not cataclysmic, then our reaction only needs to be minor. If the result is that some coastal areas flood, well that's not too bad. It would be better to let those areas flood instead of crippling the economy.
Well, since penguins aren't native to the North Pole (as far as I know), I assume that they were imported through some government subsidized scheme to try to make the Artic "cuter".
I'm sure one of these days, Quebec will finally vote to become independent and the threat of French-Canadianism will finally be over. However, will it be before all the fundamentalist Christians disappear in their Rapture? Only time will tell.
After all that happens, the only thing to worry about is radical environmentalist. And the gun control lobby.
I thought that speech codes were created by either the student government or the school administration. Perhaps the State governments had something to do with it, but I'm not sure if the Federal government had anything to do with it.
Now, what was weird were the "protest areas" during the 2004 election. The one for the DNC was really funny as it looked like a concrete bunker lined with barbed wire.
I seem to remember that fascism is more akin to socialism rather than capitalism. After all, that is why the Nazis called themselves the National Socialist German Workers Party. Hitler did promise to aid the capitalists (he needed money and support), but he lied and screwed them over. However, it is hard to tell fascism from socialism by business interests alone, as both forms of government can take over corporations and essentially run them.
I also seem to remember that Hitler had some rants against "Capitalist Jews" (also against "Communist Jews", Jews apparently being responsible for both capitalism and communism).
Of course, fascism seems to take different forms in different countries, so it's hard to define. Mussolini was somewhat different than Hitler. I think this is in part why some people prefer the term "totalitarian" as it is more descriptive of government behavior rather than economic systems (it can also cover theocracies and monarchies). There are plenty of Capitalist and Socialist countries in the world, but only a few of them can be described as totalitarian. Totalitarianism may be an inherent part of fascism and that may be what it differentiates itself from the other "-isms".
I think the word "fascist" is used more often than "totalitarian" simply because "fascist" is shorter and easier to remember.
P.S. "USians" is not a word.
P.P.S. After looking up the Wikipedia article on Hitler, he apparently also hated social democrats, [Jeffersonian?] liberals, and reactionary monarchists. I guess he doesn't fit on the normal political spectrum because he was crazy.

You should just measure everything in Kelvins, that way there are no negatives.

I thought that, in part, the merit system of China was designed to find capable people and stop them from becoming revolutionaries.

In my defense, it was Old Fuckin' Navy.

Maybe if you buy his PS3 for $2000, his girlfriend will give you a "happy ending". And the fish must be for the fetish freaks.
Some people have some odd ideas about "rights". According to some people, you have to the right to be free from the fear of stepping in dog doo.

Moving to Canada isn't a solution. Instead of dealing with fundamentalist Christians, they'll have to deal with French-Canadians.

The way some environmentalists talk, they'd be okay with 95% of the human population dying. Others would be okay with 100% of the population dying.
