    prob get top of your class , but you will prob get pissed of one day climb a clock tower and start shooting people. PC can be a great learning tool , but not at the expense of social skills ( 4 hrs + of HL2 does not give you social skills ) I also take issue with lack of development in fine motor skills lack of exerise , fitness , climbing trees's ect

    I have mates that have CS degrees , MCSE;s you name it , i have F all but im a network manager , yep the ultimate /. horror self taught . But combine that with a service attidude , I can communicate , i dont have deviant lifestyles ( well at lest nothing I bring to the office ) Im honest I dont chat up the chicks I get the job done , follow up and treat my punters like they are my family That is why i get payed lots dont get greif and do a good job , last person in my job was ciscoe mcse and all the rest , but turned up pissed after lunch and would attempt to shag every women in the office .

    Hi The french govt at the time had a modern army with modern weopens ect. Comopared to the german army at that time they were far more advanced. They got catagoricaly dorked by the bliztkreig technices pionered by Rommell ( i belive the usa army got dorked in nth africa the first time they went toe to toe with the nazi's ) the major issue for the french was putting all of their eggs in one basket called the maginot line. ( history has a habit of repeating itself ) What i dont understand about the anti missil interceptors lasers ect , is whats to stop a correctly motivated idiot from sailing a cheap boat into a coastal city and hitting the button ? why go to the expence of building a ICBM , its alot cheaper and easier on the enginnering to sail it. Like the knights in the middle ages who learnt that longbows would penetrate their armour , the loonies will just find another way , Please learn about the 2nd world war before you type

    when i was a student ( im an aussie ) i used to sus out were the wrinklies would go shopping. no one beats 75 yr old + at hunting ot bargins or knowing when the supermarkets heavily discount their meat. grow your own vege;s ( its not hard and they taste a lot better go vegetarian , better health better food alot cheaper

    dont have time to look f*&^n win2000 eng , but im trying a similar setup byusing a inverted dish positioned near the plant with wires and a current passing thru , when its wet circut is complete ( no water ) and when its dry water spays . still faffing about with it but lotsa fun , kinda of an overkill for my vege patch....

    im amazed by all of the respones from the guys .. My current manager is a women , she has been in the field since the days of punchcards and other antique stuff , she is excellent , technically up there and a very good boss , no bullshit and i have a huge amount of respect for her an ex girlfreind has a Phd in maths very smart and on the ball , far more employable than alot of the dweebs in her class I have sevaral mates who attended compsi at Uni and were the only girls , one of whome is very striking , amazingly enough they were judged on their looks as aposse dto their abilities , they are now in high level positions why the guys are cleaners or some such rubbish this is the 21st century all jobs and all skills are open and should be open to what ever gender wh gives a monkeys what your sex is , are you any good and do you dig your job saying that my last job I had the worst boss in my life who was/is a women , an incredibly bigoted nasty peice of work I did mech eng at Uni well 2 girls graduated out of 45 guys ,lets say lunchtime conersations were pretty boring , what did i do to my v8 this weekend . i personally believe it is important to incorrage girls into science field for the same reason that it is to encourage boys into traditional girl jobs like nursing and teaching , it breaks barriers down and created diversity

    I agree with most of what you say ,but there are componenets that make a huge differance . Clipless pedals , shimano SPD's in my case but a non cleated bike rider has zero chance of o/t me. Cleats make a huge differance especially up hills. Disk brakes are fantastic if they are hydralic ( far better modulation ) and you use them for the purpose they are theee for , downhill , off road mud and snow, then they are great , always stop , less damage on your rims ( why its very important to check for forein matter under your brake pads if you have Vee's as rim damage will follow.) What disc's are silly for is normal day to day riding ,they are heavier and more complex ie more expenisve to maintain . If you are purchasing an average bike , runabout , commuter youwould be crazy to get disc's because at that price point you are not getting quaility

    carry a GPS beacon. In australia it is possible to hire or purchase a GPS beacon , get lost,injured ect press a button and search and rescue no Exactly were you are. advantages - cheap - only sends a location is not a nav aid ( get your compass out instead - light weight ( you can carry more wine in your backpack - no one is tracked were they are ( no paranioa ) - small setup costs , no expensive infrustructure to build in potentialy sensitive ecological area's - if you do get lost , they send the people directly to you as apposed to searching around a large area. - your sensors unless placed everywere will only give a rough location. - service and upkeep , the hikers break it ,they mend it

    I agree 100 % mate ,most of my users are technological dimwits,woever that makes them far from stupid. I am here to fix their issues not go on an ego trip. I was riding my bike on the weekend with a freind who is an ambulance office , we looked at a girl riding with her helmet hung over her handlebars , he looked at her in frustration and told me that they are nicknamed "roadkill" in the ambo service , every proffesion has idiots just laugh at them and look at them as job security. Sadly a job as a sysadmin requires that you deal with anything from users who have a clue and can be trusted to those who you whould rather issue crayons to. I love my job , i am lucky , i have a multimeter , soldering iron and cable tester on my workbench behind me. I am a one man show and yep i have to reset password's and do tape bckups , but i also get to do the fun stuff as well. Dealing with users is about education, find out what they cannot do and try and work them in the right direction imposible sometimes but another challenge
