    It's not really the government's fault. It's the fault of banks and credit card companies that only care about one 9 digit number to know everything about you.

    The one on the card means you agree to the account agreement.
    The one on the receipt is to prove you agree to that transaction.
    If the merchant doesn't have a copy of the receipt with your signature on it you can claim you never authorized them to charge you that amount.
    Think of it is a minicontract.

    But how do they know you own a Windows XP CD?
    If you want WINE to be able to use windows updater it's up to the makers of WINE to find a way for to connect to windows updater and vaildate itself with your windows information.
    It's not Microsoft's job to find out if you own the cd or not while running WINE.

    You should get -1 for not RTFA.
    You can still update MS software if your running WINE. What you can't do is run windows updater to update said software for you automaticly because windows updater is a windows service. And if your running WINE you obivously don't have windows.

    You can still get updates for their other software if you own it. Just download the updates.
    They're just blocking people that don't have windows from downloading through the windows update program.
    They aren't blocking you from updating software you own. They're blocking you from using a windows service because you don't have windows. That's perfectly legal.

    P.S. I just finished reading the judgement.
    It orders him to pay 1 million dollars in damages and he has to turn over all the logs.
    It also states he isn't allowed to sell the source code for loki torrent.
    Though he wasn't required to turn over the domain name or servers to the MPAA just the logs. So the notice on the website looks to be his own doing?
    If anyone wants me to email a copy to them so they don't have to pay the 64 cents to download and can post it some where let me know.

    I know I personally had already finished watching the whole of session 1 when it was barely even starting on Sci Fi.

    It all depends on what's in your letter; you have to know how to work the system.
    If your letter starts off with 'If you ever want to see your family again' or 'I have pictures of you' it's sure to get their attention more then any campaign contribution.
    It's all part of the circle: threats, bribes, and blackmail.
