I finally got pissed off and downloaded the whole album via P2P.
See, this should be legal. You own the CD so you should be able to go out and download the mp3's. Just like if I own a cassette I should be able to go out and download the mp3's. I already paid for the songs dammit!
By doing a world wide launch they are creating a shortage. They knew they were going to do a world wide and should have produced enough units. So yes, they created a shortage.
Ultimately, if you consider yourself a core gamer, you've probably already pre-ordered a 360 (and hopefully, your retailer will be able to fulfill that pre-order - many are quietly letting customers know they won't be able to meet demand before Christmas).
I consider myself a core gamer and I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot poll on launch day. I have my reservations about the 360 and to be honest, Microsoft hasn't done enough to get me excited about this launch. I'd pre-order a Revolution right now if I could. PS3 has some time still to either get me really excited or turn me off completely to the PS3.
I remember waiting eagerly for the PS2, Game Cube, and X-box. I couldn't wait for the release of these systems. I don't know if it's the fact that I'm a few years older or if it's the way these systems are marketed, or the fact that they just seem to be more of the same (except for the Revolution). But I'm taking a cautious approach to the 360 and unless things change will do more of the same with the PS3.
I saw that. It was the $2000 dollar question. And none of the contestants got it right! I mean c'mon, you'd think that college kids would know what WoW was. Of course maybe the fact that they are on Jeopardy! shows that they don't play. All the WoW addicts are too busy to leave Azeroth.
I stationed in Germany at Ramstein AB. I wonder how this ban would affect us military members who purchase video games either online and shipped to our US mailing address or at our local BX/PX. Hopefully the US would step up and say that their ban wouldn't affect us. As an adult it's my decision whether I want to play a violent video game or not. And shoot, I'm in the military, violence is kind of implied in the job at some level or another.
As long as I'm not hurting for a good game to play, I don't care how many succeed.
Yes but if game companies aren't making a profit then it could potentionally make it harder and harder for for the companies to make good games. With money from profits game companies could pay for better talent to make better games and spend more money on technologies that could help to make a good game too. Money is no guarantee for a good game as is proven time and time again with some great, independent games that have been released but it doesn't hurt to have either.
Given the extremely low sales of the Xbox in Japan this isnt suprising.
I'm going to take the opposite side of this and say it is surprising. Since the X-box didn't sell well in Japan I'd think they'd be doing everything they can to ensure stronger sales.
There is a B5 mod out for the game Nexus. I haven't followed it at all but a co-worker talks about it all the time. Check it out at http://b5col.firstones.com/
Not to mention that there's a chance that Microsoft will have a price cut right about the time of the PS3 launch as well. They've shown in the past they have no issues selling the X-box for a loss so I don't see why they won't do the same thing with the 360 if it'll take some sales away from the PS3. I'd say that depending on how strong or weak the sales of the 360 will be before the PS3 launch will determine how likely a price cut will be.
As I said in my first post, "Not to mention that these predictions have little to no value. They are just predictions." What I just wrote is my prediction and has little to no value. Take it with a grain of salt.
Sony and MS have spent a lot of money to hype up their products. Boasting impressive numbers that mean little to most people and making claims that might or might not be met. All the while Nintendo has kept quiet. I think their plan is to just let the product speak for itself. In the end I hope it works for them. It may or may not. But as long as there are quality games and they aren't losing money who cares if they are #1 or #6?
I'm just going to hit on a couple of these. I don't necessarily disagree with your post on a whole. I'm just bored at work and looking for conversation.
It just won't be the 'it' console, which is okay with Nintendo. I think it's okay with Nintendo fans too. Not the fanboys but the fans. I'm okay with Nintendo not being number one. As long as they are cranking out good games what do I care if PS3 is outselling them?
Halo 3 is not the 'killer app' it used to be. Halo 2 didn't sell more xboxes. True but Halo 2 came out after X-box was in a lot of homes. People who loved Halo didn't have to buy a new X-box to enjoy Halo 2. In order to enjoy Halo 3 they have to buy a 360. Halo and Halo 3 have more in common than Halo 2 and Halo 3. Halo 3 will definitely sell 360s.
The PS3 will have exclusive titles that people will be willing to buy one for. And they are promising on release now, but we'll see. Revolution will have exclusive titles that people will be willing to buy one for too. SMB Melee, Mario Kart, Zelda, Metroid, these are going to be exclusive and they're going to sell systems. I agree that PS3 will sell systems for the same reason though.
The launch of the ybox is not looking good currently, due to the restricted inventory and lack of revolutionary single platform games. However, microsoft will throw money to make it 'good', I'm sure. Lord knows they have enough money.
Anyway, I'm not convinced either way, it's still wait and see. 100% with you on this.:)
Customers have to decide between the 360 with Halo 3, the PS3 with a potentially high price tag, and the Revolution, priced near current generation game consoles."
No, no, no no, no no. Customers don't have to decide between the three. They can choose more than one. I own all three (actually four, Dreamcast too) of this generations systems. Eventually I will own all three of the next gens too. There is no law that says I can only get one and I won't.
Not to mention that these predictions have little to no value. They are just predictions. People have predicted that Microsoft will flop. People predict that Nintendo will go the way of Sega. People have predicted that the world will end. It's just someone's opinion and while there's a chance it'll happen, whatever, there's a chance it won't too. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yes but if you run out and buy Tamilflu for your family, and everyone around you runs out and buys Tamiflu for their families and then the flu hits somewhere else, far from you you've taken Tamiflu away from those people who might need it where the pandemic is breaking out. That is unless you'd give up your Tamiflu and send it to those who need it if you are not in danger. Which I doubt most people would do, fearing that their area might be next. Which is exactly why they bought it in the first place. Fear. And in the end, by people hording Tamiflu they are putting others in danger.

Tamiflu was withdrawn from public pharmacies to stop people from buying into the sensational journalism and rushing out and buying all they could, there by removing all the stock of Tamiflu. This way the government can start up a stockpile to be kept for if/when the flu hits. If people are hording the Tamiflu it'll be harder to get it to where it'll be needed. That's why it's been withdrawn.
My NES still works but I bought a SNES. That still worked but I bought a 64 and then a GC. My X-Box still works and someday long after launch I'll get a 360. They weren't broke but I upgraded.
2000 worked pretty well for the most part(not too broken) but many people are running XP these days. XP isn't too broken but in the future many people will be using Vista. Improvements in functionality, security, and ease of use will eventually lead me to Vista. I don't plan on diving in the day it's released or anything but eventuall I will buy it and install it on my machines.
The PS2, X-Box, and Game Cube have been out for a while now. No surprise that interest is declining. This time next year when Revolution, 360, and PS3 have been released there'll be interest in console gaming again.
Well good news for all S:AaB fans. It's coming out on DVD November 8th! I had been surprised for a long time that in the rust to put every series known to man out on DVD this one hadn't hit the store shelves yet but I guess I can now pick it up.
Easy fix for when you are getting blocked, go to http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and enter forums.worldofwarcraft.com in the appropriate area and have it translate Chinese-simp to English. I'm on a military network and they block most forums and and game related stuff like WoW. This way I still get to surf the forums when I have nothing going on.

I predict the Nokia N-Gage 17 will be the leader in 2051. Just as valid as these other predictions.
