Isn't this just replacing "I forgot my password" with "I lost my smart card"? And cards will cost more than passwords to change, unless MS plan to bring in a per CPU licence fee for password changes.
If this is the typical way interplanetary communications could develop then scanning the universe for stray radio signals with SETI might be fruitless as all the data is sent in a tight beam to its destination.
Perhaps if we tell the RIAA and the MPAA about them we can get them to stop suing school kids and OAPs.

Halo 2 Released

I've got one for my X-Box, it's pretty good, you don't get as much sensitivity as you do with a proper PC FPS but it's quite acceptable as long as you don't want to make any sharp turns.
It works really well with Halo 2 as well if you turn the joystick sensitivity up to the max. Unfortunately Halo 2's ending is really bad. I couldn't believe my eyes when the end credits popped up.
Is it me or did the author go overboard with the adjectives in the openening paragraph (crepuscular, mote-strewn, glowering)?
It's like one of those essays you'd write at school where you're really enthusiastic about the essay during the first paragraph but then you realise you want to watch (insert sci-fi show here) on TV and so you stop bothering with all the flowery words and just get on with writing it.
Then again, it's not often you get to use the word "crepuscular"...
"Umm.... doesn't MS still have the majority of market share in the server market?"
According to Netcraft Apache has the biggest web presence. Admittedly Apache is not Linux, and there are many Windows boxes out there with Apache, but it does give a good idea of the spread of platforms out there.
Intel have publicly cancelled the 4Ghz P4, they're going the route of adding more cache to the chip (like the Extreme Edition) which will cost them a fortune because of the larger wafer size, this is because they cannot get the heat output of the P4 Prescott to a satisfactory level.
Overclocking a P4 Prescott requires water or freon cooling because of the heat. I don't think I've seen a system get to 4Ghz on air cooling and if someone did they'd probably need a larger than standard heatsink and noisy fan both of which Intel aren't going to ship with the CPU.
The website is currently/.ed so I can't check this but who are the people running this scheme? Is it endorsed by Mozilla.org or is it a bunch of guys who want to play on the hearts of open source advocates everywhere to get some free beer money?
I quick whois of the domain shows it's not owned or hosted on the Mozilla servers, so it just makes me suspicious...
What you say is true, however the question was about IE security holes not Windows holes.
That said, given all of the "malicious URL" exploits for IE that have been found over the years I can't see how Gates can argue that it's people downloading third party apps that causes the problem. It's the flaws in IE that allow malicious websites to execute things locally it that's the problem.
Gates could argue that is the definition of "downloading a third party app", but that basically means Gates wants everyone to use IE but not to browse any websites with it!
I think Dell is angling to pick up a lot of HP iPaq customers with these new models. The styling is similar to the "classic" silver iPaqs before HP went for the all grey look.
Also there are a lot of dissatisfied iPaq owners out there who are upset that HP are not releasing a firmware upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.
For those wondering what the "Developers! Developers! Developers!" line is about, check out the Steve Ballmer movies here. The second movie is the relevant one but the first has to been seen to be believed too.
Check out the Ninja Hacker forums here. They have nude patches and instructions for Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball and DOA3. You need a chipped X-Box to use the patches, they have tons of other clothing patches too.
I hope Tecmo don't sue them if they see this link...:(
And if the person's not dead, they've got something to eat while they wait for rescue. Afterall rat burgers taste OK according to Sylvester Stallone in Demolition Man.
Agreed, I have two PS2s, one running Linux 24/7 and the other for gaming, neither have given me a days trouble. My brother's PS2 gets treated like shit, it gets thrown in the back of various mates' cars and spends its life on dirty student's carpets, amazingly it's still running perfectly too.
That said the CD/DVD drives in the PS1s and PS2s do seem to be their Achilles heal. I saw an article the other day saying most PS1/PS2 drives last about 7-8 years before they fail, yet 20+ year old Nintendo cartridge systems keep operating perfectly. So in about 10 years a working PS2 will be a rare sight indeed. Could be an investment for Ebay...;)
It was FS, so when it asked for my opinion on the name I said it reminded me of "file system" rather then evoking a mental image of a next generation system.
I also said Xbox HD reminded me of "hard drive" and that it was a bad idea to call it that since allegedly the next system won't have a hard drive!

Right that's my preorder cancelled then. Fuck you too Vivendi.

It's a threat to me keeping my lunch down anyway...

Looks like it's not just iPod owners who will be mugged based on the colour of the PSP's headphones.
I'm sure the world's first commercial space flight would be a big enough news story on its own without needing to give The Shat a free ride.

In that case my donation will be made as soon as the /.ing ends, thanks for the info. :)

Steve Balmer
Watch the first movie on this link and be afraid. Be very afraid.

I was hoping this would be "Inside Wal-Mark 'it' girls", a follow-on to the successful "Girls of Wal-Mart".

Can you run javascript inside emails? I thought even Outlook and Outlook Express would be blocking that by now?
Yeah I was thinking that, how well does this solution work for non-graduate drug addicts who have erectile disfunction problems and need a loan?
You mean this?
