How long until my book goes live with Google Print?
The amount of time it takes to get your book online will vary, depending on a number of factors. These can include the current volume of books to be scanned and the complexity of your books. As such, we are unable to provide a timeframe during which your books will go live, but we do make every effort to get your content live on our site as quickly as possible.
Your publisher account gives you a view into the status of all of your titles. Click the Book Status link below the My Books tab to view a list of all titles that you've submitted. Books that are waiting to be scanned are marked as Pending . Once scanned, your title will show as Processed , and the file has been sent to be included in our index. Finally, once your book is uploaded and visible to users on Google Print, the status will change to Live and your title will be hyperlinked to the appropriate page on print.google.com . If this answer does not resolve your issue, please try searching or browsing Google Print Support for more assistance. If you are unable to find your answer, please contact us.
seems pretty reasonable, maybe you could contact them about an idea to get books into google print faster if they are paid? so instead of 'first come first serve', its 'pay now, get in now'
maybe i am misunderstanding things, but it seems you are insulting google with your post. i hope your PR guy is more friendly...
also, what printing company do you work for? you should be advertising while posting to slashdot! get back to work!!!
also, why isint anyone upset that tax payer money is paying some fool to look at library records? what good is a library record? to see how many times the person checked out 'how to draw manga'?
We have had this idea in mind for a while and were planning to kick of this campaign at a later date but after a recent post in mplayer-dev mailing-list we have decided to bring forward the announcement. The 'donations for DVD-menu in XBMC campaign' basic concept is to encourage XBMC end-users to make donations (via PayPal) into a fund in order to motivate the XBMC developers to prioritize programming DVD-Video menu/navigation support for XBMC. This concept has been brewing for a few month now as many people have either posted in the forum or e-mailed us directly offering to donate money to this specific cause, which has been the #1 requested feature for quite a while. So come on, be generous and help support the XBMC project. Give donations for how much you feel XBMC is worth to you as a whole if this feature were added to XBMC's already very long feature list. The XBMC developer(s) who code this huge feature will collect the fund-pot on completion as a reward - they have adready started coding.
UPDATE (9/11-2004): Just thought we let everyone that the campaign is going very well which shows the demand for this feature, the fund have already received over 100 donations and so far the fund total is at just over $1,800(US), which includes one very generous donation today of $500(US) from Team-Xecuter (who said they will also donate 5 x X3-modchips to the fund). Short progress-report on the actual code development; our XBMC devs working on this internally have got basic DVD playback working and menus are also partially working, all showing great promise.
Make your donation towards DVD-menu support in XBMC via PayPal: $25, $50, $100 or other. If like to make a none-PayPal (money or maybe a gift) donation please contact Gamester17.

mplayer has no support for wmv DRM systems (or any drm for that matter).
if someone says 'mplayer plays them fine' they are referring to the free, non-drm samples.
non-drm hdtv wmv works fine on mplayer.
mplayer on 64bit, in the future, or currently (dont recall) will be able to play wmv9, with a 32bit wine and 32bit mplayer (and 32bit on your 64bit chip)
i got a 250gb hitatchi from compusa for $169 with $20 instant rebate and $80 mail in rebate, so i got 250gb for $70 after rebates, whats wrong with that?
my friend however does not spend 1 minute to get an envelope and stamp and copy his receipt and send it in with upc to save $80.
i really dont understand why he does not.
otherwise it would be nice if the price at purchase was final, but then you couldnt get the rebates that PAY YOU MONEY, e.g. $50 product with $75 rebate. free money back + free product is bad how?
what do you mean you cant shine a laser at something moving at 100-600mph that is at least 1-15 miles away? what do you mean you'd have to hit 4-15 ft of windshield to even be considered an annoyance? what do you MEAN youd have to be ABOVE THE FUCKING PLANE TO EVEN SHINE A LASER INTO A COCKPIT THAT IS ON THE TOP OF THE PLANE?!
bullshit? no, this is pure and complete BATSHIT INSANE THAT ANYONE WOULD EVEN THINK THIS SHIT UP, THIS IS TOM CLANCY BATSHIT INSANE!
HOW ABOUT YOU FUCKING SPEND A SECOND AND GET LOCKS ON THE FUCKING COCKPIT DOORS SO TERRORISTS CANT GET IN? HUH?! yeah, lets give pilots some guns, in a compressed cabin, smart idea. why not give em boxcutters?
maybe tom ridge can suggest we duct tape the door shut.
wheres all the dangers about lasers onto bus and or vehicle drivers? i mean, thats actually a plausible danger, and much more possible. WE NEED TO BAN LASERS, AND GUNS, AND BOXCUTTERS!
did michael powell really say that about oprah? i cannot find any credible website to find him being quoted. just a bunch of blogs and quotes about stern talking about it.
stern vs powell on kgo radio was pretty funny tho.
i really dont like stern or powell, i hate the fcc's censorship, lack of telling people what they can or cannot say, lack of any scrutiny on complaints sent by form letters from one family group.
When PCs start coming standard with multiple cores in the CPU and a gig or two of RAM, someone will develop Linux for Windows and a nice development environment. When you run the application on Windows, it will simply load Linux (or Linux will be loaded at startup) and run on top of this additional layer.
running linux under windows (2k/XP) is already here and its called colinux, runs at near full speed (NOT EMULATED!)... can get sound and networking working, use your current distro or a new blank one from image. you can also use your windowing system with xcygwin or a VNC session.
i'm ready to try out this new p2p, i've tried many others, often when they were new... irc, usenet , ftp groups, winmx, cutemx, napster beta 2, scour media agent, scourmx, gnutella, morpheus, kazaa, audiogalaxy, soulseek, edonkey, direct connect, mute, bittorrent, freenet, WASTE, winny, and i'm not going to stop any time soon. just gotta watch for what riaa/mpaa are looking for, and not share thier crap.
security? just think! when you are the tracker on the file, you can set passwords for the file (per user/ip passwords!) so that they cant share thier passes with others. of course this kind of defeats the purpose of more people=faster torrent, but at least it will be more secure.
this could be great, like what downhillbattle wanted with GAIM, a friend p2pnet , except this time (unlike waste), blocks are shared as soon as they are complete (kind of like edonkey), but faster.
it could be horribly slow (like edonkey), you can only have as many torrents as your bandwidth allows, more torrents open = slower torrent speed, torrents were faster because it was only a few files at a time (i havent heard of anyone running more than 10 torrents on cable upload) vs people who are on p2p with 1000's of files and slow upload/few upload slots
only time will tell, heres hoping its an open network and not ad-ridden with suprnova advertisements.
Towards an MPlayer Resolution. Diego Biurrun posted an update on the work being done to resolve MPlayer's licensing difficulties. The main two concerns have been the lack of a LICENSE file and noncompliance with clause 2a of the GNU General Public License, which Diego has attempted to address through a LICENSE file and a Copyright file. Don Armstrong thought it would suffice for Debian's purposes, but suggested that the MPlayer team should indicate in the relevant files that they've been changed and who changed them.
and from another post of yours on this thread.
They were total assholes about distros distributing binaries of mplayer, as well as compiler problems- they're such bad coders, their shit broke faster than a piece of china near a bull, and they would happily point a finger anybody they could. "Oh, the software crashes because Redhat didn't build it properly". Or, "oh, you didn't compile it with this one specific version of GCC."
the problem really is the gcc, it will crash with an 'internal compiler error' , how can you blame MPlayer for that? all is well with a gcc upgrade (most of the time).
Mplayer's problems always seemed to be "mplayer crashes when built with anything but this version of GCC".
i havent seen this error, but then again i've only been helping people with mplayer for a year or so... if anyone needs help there are lots of users and even developers at #mplayer on irc.freenode.net , the mplayer devs have really stopped flaming people, from what it was like before. anyone still dualbooting be sure to check out the win32 cygwin or mingw ports of mplayer! http://mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32-beta/
be sure to watch ffmpeg/mplayer for new codecs named 'snow' and 'sonic' and thier' container format 'NUT' , the ffmpeg and mplayer developers figure if everyone can make a codec and container, they can too, and they can do it better than anyone!
what were the warrants for the raids granted with?
Authorities made no arrests. But Ashcroft warned that those who copy music, movies and software over P2P networks without permission could face jail time.
under what penalty of law? last i heard copying things (download) never got anyone in trouble... now sharing on the other hand, is still a civil matter. (but selling is an FBI matter).
seems pretty reasonable, maybe you could contact them about an idea to get books into google print faster if they are paid? so instead of 'first come first serve', its 'pay now, get in now'

the movie links back to imps server ;\
everything related to taxes is sent to IRS anyways, make them do the fucking work.
an actual fucking weather channel on cable would be nice. every time i turn on the weather channel its STORM STORIES time.

rebates are a good investment.
there are more mp3 tools than ogg vorbis tools. i converted all of my vinyl (about 480 albums) to ogg however.
:)
vinyl>wav>depop>wav>ogg
there arent many files using ALAC, but there are some, at least this should be supported by mplayer soon

'cmdrtaco sucks' is an opinion
'cmdrtaco sucks cock' would be an insult
'cmdrtaco killed my sister' would be libel.
ianal of course.
in fact, i'd say mars is way too short-sighted, i want to see probes going into deep space to find our alien friends :)
