How about large *music* CD collections?

CD Storage Advice?

· Score: 1
I'm moving soon and I want to really cut down on clutter. I'm getting rid of at least a couple hundred CDs, but I'd like to do something better with the ones I keep too. The jewel cases really do take up alot of room....
Anyone know of any good binders or other storage systems that can deal with CDs and their inserts and tray cards? Maybe a certain type of clear plastic baggie and appropriately-sized filer boxes? Folding the tray cards up and stuffing them in to a regular CD binder is not an option.
I'm not terribly familiar with the latest in case-modding, so I have to ask - are these UV lights entirely safe for longterm exposure? Say, 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year?
Um, I think you have bigger issues than the choice of paint on your PC.:)
IMHO, this event is *NOT* expensive. $325 ($199 students) is waaaay cheap for a 4-day techincal conference. Compare that to any sort of SANS conference, or others....
For the people who questioned Ottawa as a venue: Well, there are several reasons: There are many people who will not travel to the USA. Ottawa is also cheaper than Toronto, Montreal, and other bigger cities. Everyone I've spoken to at OLS seems to really like it here.
It's interesting that this would happen in Italy. From my understanding (I'm not an expert in this), Italy has had very relaxed laws about bootlegged music, especially live recordings. That's why so many concert CDs come from Italy.
If I were a more qualified sociologist, I'd think it may have inspired by the way that our children play today versus how they played twenty years ago. It's a cool toy and all, but I think you're giving it waaaaay too much credit here. How many kids actually have Lego Mindstorms? Maybe the few kids who's wealthy parents can afford it.
I, for one, would be glad to be able to make legal copies of music and other goods, and only having to pay a small tax on media and (possibly) computer products.
As a Canadian I definitely disagree with that statement. I don't want to pay $0.77 extra for every CDR that I buy. This almost quadruples the price I would pay for CDRs! My CDRs are mainly used to burn my own digital pictures, make Linux CDs (currently burning about 100 Knoppix CDs for my LUG), and other completely non-Pirate activities. Why should I have to pay a levy to the recording/movie/proprietary-software industries if I'm not doing anything wrong? The assumption of guilt bothers me.
Besides, I don't want to copy any of the RIAA's music. I spend enough of my own money on independent artists. So I have a pretty decent record and CD collection that is not pirated.
Sorry for the off-topic post.... but since Slashdot links to so many NYT articles, they should look into getting a partner=SLASHDOT thing (like Google does).
I bought one of those Radio Shack pre-amps a couple of years ago. It was about $40 Canadian, I think. I little expensive for what it is, but ohwell.... I *had* to have my turntable hooked up, and I didn't want to spend hundreds on one of the fancy pre-amps either.
Oh...the Radio Shack pre-amps now use a 9V battery, which is somewhat annoying if you forget to turn it off after using it. Battery drainage...
Someone needs to find out where he moved to, and make sure his "change of address" info gets filled out at the post office. We wouldn't want him to miss out on any important mail.:)
You're making a big assumption that most people only drink beer because it has alcohol.
For me, I'd be delighted to find a good-tasting alcohol-free beer. Or even a very low-alcohol beer. To me, it's the taste of having a good beer that is most important, although I admit that the alcohol is a nice bonus most of the time.;-)
But imagine being able to have a couple of stouts at lunch time, and then still being able to operate heavy machinery without killing someone (or running servers without bringing your corporate web server to its knees)? That would kick ass. Beer tastes so good.
The non-alcohol beers, unfortunately, are not worth getting....
Cheers, Vic

I haven't used pico in a couple of years. I set up Vim to be my editor in Pine. Much, much better. YOu can format your text any way you want.
If they insist that you install their software, make sure you insist that you read every last word of every EULA for every piece of software they install. If even one or two people do this in a day, it will throw their installation schedule right off and make it not worth doing.
If these installers are putting software on customers' computers, it should be the customers that click through the EULAs.
I am glad that I don't have to worry about it here, XWindows baby.
If anything, a poorly configured X server would be even MORE annoying. If you let anyone attach to your X session remotely, they could display pretty much anything on your screen, not just annoying pop-up messages.
Why are you thanking Linus? Does he actually have anything to do with designing the processor? I thought he was just helping on the OS side of things from Transmeta. There are probably other Transmeta engineers who deserve more thanks for that hardware, eh?
Not that Linux doesn't deserve help for starting Linux!:)

Even simple things (like popping tabs up on top rather than in the background) can't be done w/o setting the apropriate properties manually.
...and then put check in the "Select new tabs.." boxes for whatever you feel is appropriate.

And the hot-swapping of players while play is in motion adds a whole other dimension to the game
.....you refer to a "line change" as "hot swapping". I'll have to remember that one! ;-)

Now when you search for AXA, one of the first results is:
"AXA sues Google over AdWords - Slashdot - 35 minutes ago"
They could perhaps put together a super spelling/grammar checker. From the web site...
;)
>your computers' firepower
There is nothing wrong with the first one you mentioned. I would suggest finding another proofreader.
SE Linux is being included in upcoming releases of Fedora Core, and eventually Red Hat.

From my perspective (Canadian) it's more accurate to say it was in the south-east. :)

I don't need to mess with my clock to get OpenOffice to work. :)

I hate repeating myself on Slashdot, but please check OEone's open source release page:

Source code is available via anonymous CVS. OEone also has an IRC channel (#penzilla on irc.openprojects.net) and a developers mailing list:

You didn't hear this from me, but the Mandrake 9 version is just around the corner.

But don't tell anyone I told you.
