If major labels are bothering you all so much, why do you keep supporting them by talking about their bands, trading their music, grudgingly BUYING THEIR CDs??
Sometimes I just don't get the Slashdot crowd... Many of us use Linux and have given up on using Microsoft stuff, but when it comes to the latest crappy mainstream music, we whine that we can't pirate it? Come on.... If you really feel that major labels are screwing you, give them up. Support inedepent musicians and labels.
There's a whole world of music out there that is cheaper, more interesting, more cutting-edge, etc..etc... You just have to look a little harder to find it, just like you had to try a bit harder to get Linux installed and your closed-source applications replaced by Free Software.
Sorry for the rant...you might mod me down, but really....If some big companies are doing something you don't like, forget about them and move on to something better.
If yes, please do the following: - Download file and save to/tmp - cd/tmp - tar xvzf slashpopup.tar.gz - cd slashpopup -./configure (For help with options, do./configure --help) - make - su - make install ....Finished!
Half the reason for going to Karaoke is laughing at how bad your friends and other bar patrons are at singing. If it corrects this for you, ya might as well just play the jukebox and lip-sync...
I can't even remember the last time I saw one one those. But then again, I've been using Mozilla and/or Konqueror for a long time, and I have those annoying popus turned off.
This functionality works better on Mozilla because it only turns off popups that happen when pages load, not *all* popups. Some sites use popup links, and Konq breaks that....
The popularity of Linux, *BSD, and other open source operating systems has continually increased over the last 10 years, and in many cases, it is replacing the proprietary technology offered by traditional UNIX vendors.
Does Sun feel at all threatened by the increasing awareness and usage of other open source UNIX-like operating systems? Does Sun feel open-sourcing their software is a necessary step to compete with the free operating systems and software?
Due to our patent on hyperlinking, and the fact that you hyperlinked to a story about this patent (we noticed many other hyperlinks on your page, as well), we are taking you to court.
Before settlement is reached, pelase remove all hyperlinks from your web page. Until a royalty settlement is agreed upon, it's tough-titties for you.
This may be a good moment to plug an event occurring this Sunday, November 25th.
The Business of Open Source Software is an event being held by the Ottawa Canada Linux Users Group (OCLUG). We have Eric S. Raymond giving a keynote speech, followed by a panel discussion of members of various open-source related companies (Xandros, IBM, Roaring Penguin, Steamballoon, OEone, and Open Source Development Labs).
Click the links for more info. It promises to be a very interesting event.
Did you know that Pico has spell-checking capability? Hit CTRL-T.:-)
I used to be a big Pico fan too. It's still a great editor for anyone who is just learning UNIX, or needs to get a job done quickly without learning a whole new editor.

Major portions are already open-sourced. See:

Also, you can visit the #penzilla IRC channel on irc.openprojects.net to speak directly to developers.
And, you can join the development mailing list here:

I don't want to have to put up with people saying (GNU|X)/(K|G)/Emacs! :)
Pretty soon we'll see pop-ups that say:
/tmp /tmp ./configure (For help with options, do ./configure --help)
Do you wish to install this file? YES / NO
If yes, please do the following:
- Download file and save to
- cd
- tar xvzf slashpopup.tar.gz
- cd slashpopup
-
- make
- su
- make install

This was already done in the Get Smart! T.V. series.

My guess for this is that they had copied a complete directory structure over from the FreeBSD box, including the web server's

Wouldn't "hot stuff" be more appropriate?

I dunno.....maybe it has to do with the new Slashcode announcement from today. :-)
But yeah....it's definittely broken right now.

Go to the Ottawa Canada Linux Users Group homepage, and check out the great Tux jack-o-lanterns linked at the top of the page!
The purpose of a "Lindows" system is to NOT have Windows, but have the ability to run Windows apps.
Your solution means:
1) Buying a Windows license (more than $100)
2) Buying VMWare ((more than $100)
Instead of:
1) Buying Lindows ($100)

Steam Balloon has released RPMs for Redhat 7.1, so I wouldn't be surprised if 7.2 RPMs are released shortly.

I am shocked and amazed that anyone would still use these unix tools that don't have a Tip of the Day and pretty cut and paste buttons!
:-)
Vim has pretty cut'n'paste buttons, and you can write a Vim macro to automatically load a random help file on startup.

Thank you....
If anyone has a mirror of this, can you post it here? Looks like the site is Slashdotted already....
