  1. Re:Hurry up Apple on Nokia the Next Gizmondo? · · Score: 2, Informative

I've had an old n-gage(the first one) for a few years ....until it was lost/stolen a few days ago.
It's OS was pretty intuative everything worked well the address book was useful, and well laid out and its bluetooth connected to my car, computer and headset quickly and easily.

I replaced it with a motorola l6,because it was cheap, but bare in mind this is one of the latest models.
The address book is stupid you seem to have to have seperate entries for each persons phone no. mobile no, email etc
It took me an hour to get an initial connection to my computer via bluetooth but at least it improved my text speed, It only stays 'discoverable' for about 30 seconds, and you cannot change this, not long enough to 'discover' the phone AND type in the passcode reliably. Although its fine once its been done.
I had to read the manual! (something I never had to bother with with the N-gage) to find out where mp3's and ringtone samples I downloaded were stored.

Lest the replies state how to do these things quickly and easily.
My POINT is that using the N-Gage I did all these things without the manual and on first use, the OS/keyboard layout is to my mind intuative.
Using the Motorola I had to look up in the manual, and in one case look up Online, before I could accomplish the same tasks, this makes the OS/keyboard unintuative to me.

The phone is not too bad, its just not what I expect from a phone who's OS should be 4~5 years more advanced, next time I lose it I'll be going back to a Nokia

I can go through a whole host of problems with modern japanese, french, british and american designs which are well known in the trade.

No, I disagree, as a british engineer in the automobile industry I know they copied and improved on our best practice and designs
British auto engineering was/is pretty good,
Our weakness has always been (and especially during the 1970's ) our management structures together with our production of the finished designs
Oh and we're not very good at working 'down' to a price point, engineers in the Uk are taught to design to the best they can for the task at hand. They find it hard to design something thats 'just good enough' for the task.
Thats why most formula racing cars have been designed and built here, as the design brief is 'as good as can be within the rules', and this suits the ethos of Uk engineers

Very rarely, if at all, will anyone in authority give up that power without a fight.

I actually think the UN would do a very good and impartial job (no doubt I'll get flamed by the irrational UN haters). I no longer trust the US administration to be on the side of free speech and fairness ( and yes it is fairer and supports free speech better than SOME countries, but I think it comes someway down the league nowadays)

The UN could not impose censorship as its membership is too varied and would deadlock as to what was censorship (or in Ameri-speak Net-neutrality, your version of NOAS lol ).

The reason most countries want the US administration to relinquish control of ICANN is they don't trust it, often with good reason.
