  1. Paranoia on Intern? Bloggers Need Not Apply · · Score: 1

I would claim it a simply paranoia and simply misunderstaning HOW real life happens that I get in politics, how I get work, etc.

Yep, clever people sometimes do stupid or "uneasy for everyone" things, but usually are sorry about that, so almost everyone forgives them, forgets that and life moves on. Beatles haven't lost nothing of their star power when they admitted they used stimulators while rock'n'rolling in Hamburg. And let's be clear - most people don't care HOW much you have been drunk in one party twenty years ago - if you didn't broke a law, didn't hit anyone, didn't drive car while drunk - you have ALMOST nothing to worry about. ALMOST nothing but spin doctors, but hey, they will be there for you anyway :)

Privacy is overhyped. But worries about blogging from both sides - individuals and companies - also are too...just worries and nothing more. Certainly, there are several individuals who will do stupid things, but they will do that anyway.

About company information and blogging - well, if you are working here, you have agreement and usually, certain level of loyality, I suppose. If you are not and have problems with attitude or even hate your work, then you are in trouble anyway, and sure have to leave, with or without trolling about your employer in blog. If you don't have to work anywhere else - then simply avoid talk bad or anything about work, because it could create confusion and frustrate and won't help anyone, even yourself. Keep it profesional, not personal.

Be reasonable. Learn to be that way. It is not matter of blogging, it is matter of people and their attitude to others.

People like to be beaten, used, cracked, their private information stolen, etc. But as long they don't have to take responsibility - hey, there are Microsoft to blame (let's pretend that we don't know that those people have chosen Windows in first place and have no one else to blame but theirselfes) - you will see hype of new Windows, Office, whatever.

It's not like Linux users are sometimes different - there are lot of pseidogeeks or just kids who wants to "play with OS". No matter that they leave sshd turned on with root password something like 12345.

They are just users. They are weak to shiny, colorful things. It will be long time that they would like to use computer as tool, not as toy. Microsoft simply has a marketing aimed directly at them. Why do you think Vista has almost seven versions like collectionare Tomagochi?

For me as IT guy seeing that Microsoft newest operational system beta can't handle such things is nor surprise, nor also any indication that Vista will be "final solution" for Microsoft to rulle IT world. It won't. Any childish claims that only Microsoft can get it right, that Microsoft will own desktop, and nothing will stop it them...

Well, Microsoft will come and go. Hype will come and go. And Vista will be remembered as Windows ME "Again" edition :)

Yes, *lot* of Muslims and Islamists has serious problems with other people from other nations and reality around them. Their religion constitutes happy life AFTER death and this world life is claimed meaningless. They are quite savage and usually very dumb and are willing to listen whatever their charistmatic leaders throw at them. Their beliefs are mostly so heavily out of date with "modern POV" about human life that it causes such irrigation from other people. Because they don't understand why muslim are ready to die and take some innocent with him.

BUT you left other side out, therefore you are just "picking cherries out of cake" to suit our POV, which borders with emotional, hate speech. There are lot of intelectual, clever Muslims. There are fanatics at Jews side, at Christian side which have promoted lot of "let's destroy those towelheads". Yes, they are not burning buildings, but do another nasty things, including destroying idea of Islam as "normal religion". You would be surprised how big oddities you can find in Bible, First part. So why Islam, which is as brother of Christianity and Judaism, should be different?

Why you should also ignore fact, that West is very guilty about lack of good, intelectual rullers in Middle East? That West almost always have treated Arabs AND Jews (until last hunder years) as SECOND class citizens?

It is easy to blame Islam, Muslim, Koran on current situation. Reality, however, is so difficult that I hardly see how such "editorials" help to understand situation. You are mererly expressing your opinion and it belongs to blogging, commenting here, whatever. But not to news.

Anyway, as IT guy I would say that such driver problems gives OS bad name, so it is rather strange that Microsoft have major problems with it. Maybe it was too early to call it beta.

And there comes paradox - Usually, IT dept. will follow hype of CEOs and other managers and will buy IBM promises. However, when implemented, it's usually where it stucks. Why? Because there is NO ONE to port all old apps/functionality needed to abolish all old apps and go fully LN. Using LN alone is nonsense - email client is total nightmare and that poisons all efect of it's usage.

LN is powerful and quite capable of doing great things. Except that there is need for good admins and coders to get to those great things. Usually, it is stuck in the middle of nowhere.

It is illegal and really *should* be illegal. Personally I don't give a damn that Microsoft has bilions, that it has very big market cap. I simply don't use their products, because Linux *for me* works. OS X works. Windows - very rarerly. And ALL I want is God damnn compability in protocols and several very popular file formats (MS Office).

And all these years I have wondered - why they are so resisting to share their stack with other world? They want to be only ones? Then screw them. If you mess with my life such way, I will mess with you, Microsoft.

I don't care about mindshare - it is still very hard to find very good and clever specialist to configure or even fix Exchange (I don't say anything how it is good or bad in usage, but for IT guys it is usually nightmare to support it in serious envorement). It is still very hard to find solution to rare problem of drivers, Office, any out-of-date software. It is hard to configure different apps to use different libraries in Windows. For me, Windows mindshare is just one part of IT. If IT specialist doesn't know other things than Windows, then...he will be clearly lost at some point of his career.

So, no. Microsoft has monopoly on several very important markets. It abused its position so often that I even don't believe they can be pushed to change a little bit in rational way. And its brainshare is very lofty and unconcrete mess.
