Yeah, but if I try to run my microwave at the same time it trips the breaker.

When I started reading the book, the made-up words irritated me at first, but once I'd read a little further and started to sort out their meanings I took a step back to consider what effect all these unknown terms had on my experience with the book.
Some of the unknown words described concepts that were new to me, others represented things that I'm totally familiar with. Removing my ability (initially, anyway) to distinguish the two dramatically intensified both the alien and the mundane aspects of Arbre. It was a little bit like reading sci-fi for the first time - as I gradually absorbed these new words I kept getting surprised both by the ways this futuristic world was the same as mine, and by how it was different.
Please release an operating system, I am sick of this shit.

I was, briefly, a Wish beta tester. Everything about the game was highly derivative; there were no compelling features to be seen. It was Progress Quest with a GUI.
I'm sure this is a good game... but is it a GREAT game in the LONG term?
I was in the beta with large group of clanmates; interest cycles had a period of two or three weeks for most of us. So by level 25 or 30, we had gotten so bored with a free and technically excellent game that even beta-tester responsibility couldn't keep us going. The mass market is considerably less jaded than most of us, so I don't anticipate seeing the same reaction over the same timeframe, but it will come. A year or two from now, the WoW playerbase will be indistinguishable from EQ's.
Players now expect a higher level of polish to MMORPG titles at launch.
Polish is insignificant next to game design. I played Shadowbane for a year and a half, including beta, and came out with some good memories, despite the bugs, crashing, and incomplete endgame. WoW, despite already having more polish than SB ever did, kept me entertained for all of two weeks.
in fact, I don't remember any great battle depictions from any of the books -- bad memory?
The ride of the Rohirrim, the chapter covering the beginning of the battle of the Pelennor fields, is an incredible passage; probably my favourite little bit of fiction ever. I suggest you re-read before claiming status as Tolkien fan.
Looks like it's too late for anyone to complain, unfortunately. Would be nice if stuff like this was publicized in time for those of us who don't have the patience to keep close watch on the government to get involved.
Go hang out at your local internet cafe, most of them will run clans for some game or another, and most if not all of the clan members will live in close proximity. It's no fun to play a tournament over the net.
Scorn is known as a dupe server; some big and organized guilds got deep into the dirty money game. Treachery, on the other hand, was no worse off than any of the other servers.
The primary reason for the bank wipe, IMO, is to limit the effect that guilds will have on the servers they move to. Without the gold to plunk a town down on their first day, they will have to find a place for themselves within the existing system, instead of just jumping in as a brand-new major power.
You should probably have left eligibility as a boolean; casting to int might imply something illegal.

The initial frustration totally paid off for me.
And how do you wash the car?
At the laundromat.
Where are the FBI RICO investigators when you need them?
They've recently accepted new jobs at Time-Warner.

The grind isn't gone, it's only disguised. Two months from now and it's back to being a bitter non-gamer.

Supposed to be out any day now, but I don't anticipate seeing it until fall.
Heh, more likely they won't. Save your pity for Firefly.
Come on people, if there was ever a time for continental solidarity, this is it.
I guess we know which LucasArts game you voted for.
What you need is a l33t gaming box for dorm LAN action; trust me.
AP ammo is actually less likely to kill an unarmored target - the harder bullets tend to pass straight through instead of deforming and fragmenting.

It's called life.
Just play DAoC, looks like it's pretty much the same thing.
It's back down to 1.4 now.
