1. No company loyalty. Your job could be outsourced tomorrow. 2. Being an engineer does not get you laid. 3. The types of girls that WOULD do an engineer aren't the kind of girls engineers want.
...if the RIAA would help ensure that the costs for purchasing said works remained affordable. (e.g. Charging 17.99 for a hard copy of a CD, yet the charge for the same CD only downloaded from a retailer....still 17.99.)
The consumer feels just as shafted by the recording industry as the artists do. The real criminal is the RIAA.
Because Transmeta chips aren't in the vast supply that Apple would need them. I'm with you, I wish they would've used a Transmeta chip on at least some of their designs, however, it's just not practical.
Why not AMD? Intel offers a constant supply chain and can keep up with the demand. Heating issues aren't as bad with Intel chips. (Overheated Intels just kinda slow down, AMD's you'll burn up the CPU just turning it on without adequate heating.) I'm a long time AMD fan, I still have my old AMD 486DX-40 chip laying around somewhere...but for Apple it was a good move for Apple, not necessarily the consumer.
How do you get the data off the drive? Everyone wants to say what you can and can't write to a drive to "zero" it. I'm curious to see how they would get this information off, does anyone truely know, or are we still guessing?
You're assuming that people WANT to hear what you have to say. It must be nice to be so self-important to assume that people actually want to hear it....and frankly, I find it rather ironic that you're such a proponent of free-speech, but in the same breath you wish to mod my post as "Troll" so that others won't be able to read it if it's below their threshold.
What liberals fail to realize; is that their protesting behaviors are a nuisance to those people who are just trying to make it thru there day, and then go home.
Just because a protestor may or may not have passionate feelings towards an issue, does not mean that they will win any sympathy by going out in public and making an ass of themselves.
Protesters create a micro-drain on the economy. More public safety officers need to be assigned to the area, over-time needs to be spent in order to police the area. You protesters waste money just as irresponsibly as the people you're protesting against. The difference is, if a liberal doesn't see the expenditure, then it never existed, "Let's continue to be a nuisance."
When you protest, and the protest becomes violent, (as often is the case), you do nothing to help your arguement. The claim of, "Well the police started it..." is complete BS. When a representitive of law enforcement makes it clear and in no uncertain terms that the gathering needs to dispurse and the protesters refuse to leave, regardless of the right to free-speech, you're breaking the law and deserve to be dealt with as such.
The creation of "Free Speech" zones is actually a good idea. It removes the protesters from the people that really don't care to hear what you're saying. You're still allowed to get your message out. Those that WISH to hear what you have to say can, those that don't can go about their business. Finally it's a protection for not only the public, but for the protestors.
So really, stop whining like 3 year olds. These zones are in place for everyone's protection, and the sooner everyone realizes that, the sooner you can get back to spreading your message, no matter how misguided it may or may not be.
Okay, to the moderator that modded this: Flamebait.
Get a clue dude. Why is it that any time someone takes a "religious right" stance or makes an observation thereof, someone feels the need to mod the post flamebait. READ the post you idiot. He was just stating for clarification the stance of the majority of Christians and the limits of that stance. Hardly flamebait. I'm neither conservative, nor Christian, any THINKING individual can see what this post for what it is.
To the mod: You Sir, are a tool. (NOW it's flamebait.)
...seriously, if you're worried about playing movies on your calculator, you have more problems than/. can help with. Sure it's a neat trick, but it's not practical.
...if someone can figure out how to grab the updates that their wine install grabs, then one doesn't even have to bother with WGA authentication. Or even find the method by which it's done and transpose that to a script for their wintel system.
I can see *why* Microsoft would do this WGA crap, but it still doesn't make it a good idea.
Nice segeway to keep from getting moderated redundant/repetitive/trolling or flamebait....oh 9/11 did change a lot of things. I don't mind some of the measures taken since the attacks, but some of this stuff is getting rediculous...(and this is coming from a Republican.)
The instances of pirating would be vastly reduced if it weren't for the corporate crooks doing the REAL piracy. Charging $300 for a piece of software a college kid needs for their class or offering the "student version" for $150, but "doesn't quite do the same thing, but it's just enough to get by", version.
or
The MPAA telling someone that owns a copy of a film that they can't make a back-up of a movie the end consumer PAID for, paid for the rights to use in any way they see fit, with the exception of public exhibition.
or
The RIAA telling someone they can't make an MP3 copy of a song they purchased for use on their portable device, or a copy of a song they own the media yet are too lazy to convert it to MP3 format...(I can't count the number of times I've been too lazy to rip one of my albums for my MP3 player, so I've gone out and downloaded a copy and saved myself the trouble.) Admit to even searching for online music downloads and the "industry" would label you a pirate.
There are too many instances where the copyright holders have been victims of their own success. Many publishers are successful today BECAUSE of piracy, (don't tell me you've never copied a DOS 3.22 disk)...Slipknot? I heard Spit 4 years before they ever signed a record deal. Telling people they can't make backup copies of titles they own is going to drive some people to "distribute" these works if for no other reason than spite.
Protect their profts? Don't make me laugh. 90% of the works pirate would NEVER be purchased even if there were a surefire way the one could prevent priacy. If some 15 y/o living with his mom and his step-dad wanted $600 to go buy the latest version of Photoshop, they'd laugh at him. Or some college kid isn't going to buy a software package they're going to use once and never use again...(or at the most recreationally).
Secondly, these "lost profits" these companies try to sell the public and government are fictional numbers. They're based on numbers of people suspected to have a pirated copy + numbers of people who own a computer their title will run on. They compare that number to the actual units sold and that's where they get their "lost profits" number. 90% of that number is a pure fabrication. (Counterfit copies coming from China not withstanding) They're not losing ANYTHING because the people who have those pirated copies wouldn't have purchased their POS software to begin with.
Let's say for a minute that even if piracy was 100% preventable. Let's say that piracy has been 100% eliminated tomorrow. The number of units sold today compared to those tomorrow would vary in the most smallest of amounts. So I pose the question to those companies, "Shouldn't you be more profitable now that piracy has been eliminated, shouldn't your net worth be going up? Why are this quarter's figures the same as last quarter's figures? Your profits should've gone up, what happened to all those lost profits?"
The homemade wind turbine has been made for several years now. This particular turbine is based from the 42v brake-drum trubines. (don't as me why 42v, I don't know either. it's a bastard child of voltage, probably just an error in the way they were winding, or maybe that's all that would fit, hence the reason for the homemade wind generator to evolve into the homebrew alternator method.)
To be honest, I'm surprised their site has withstood being/.'ed.
There are also several people who build these in 3rd world countries to provide small-scale power to villiages to give them light and power for radios, small tv's, and I think there's even one with a computer somewhere
This is an interesting site and great information for someone who wanted to build their own, but it's hardly news.
People aren't studying engineering because:
1. No company loyalty. Your job could be outsourced tomorrow.
2. Being an engineer does not get you laid.
3. The types of girls that WOULD do an engineer aren't the kind of girls engineers want.
Yahoo USED to, but then started charging people for it.

Let's see. Mohawks, Iroquois, Algonquin, Huron, this list goes on.
Honda's been working on this for over 10 years now.
The only reason to mention that GM is doing it would be to illustrate how yet again another American company has come in 2nd place.
Just downloaded it today. (So yes, Google has their own IM client despite the rumors to the contrary.)

Porting Wine to windows would be irrelevent if you knew by what method Wine grabbed updates and replicate that on your windows box.

"Who wants some Wang?"
Gawd I loved that game.
morse code is going the way of the dinosaur...(if it hasn't already), and will no longer be required for the amateur license.

Seriously though, He's gonna crap if his hard drive ever dies.
Even *IF* a female robot shot you down, you can still turn her off. After all, if "she's" not aware of it, nothing happened, right? lol.
Why doesn't someone grab the bits from Unslung and put 'em in the Debian ARM so the Ethernet will work? problem solved.
