"The Hack is an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, binds the galaxy together." "Use the Hack Luke!" Bad jokes aside, the Imperials did mostly use black hats(stormtroopers were more like zombies), and most of the rebel pilots had white helmets...
To add one other thing, we cannot expect even the whitest of white-hat hacking to remain legal on it's own. **AA, BSA, MS and countless others all work toward using the legal system to slowly break down the digital rights we have.
The reason why Emmanuel and others (including Micheal who gave a talk at the last HOPE[Hackers On Planet Earth] conference.[MP3 here http://www.the-fifth-hope.org/mp3/drm.mp3 ] ) have started paying attention to politics and particpating in them is because they started affecting what hackers did. They're sideing with the left because the left is more in tune to the message.
Close, but no cigar. Yes, they're selling it, but they're also smart enough to realize that they don't have to. Why? Because we will. I have a Dell at home my parents and brother use, and I hate its guts. Secured it with firewalls, NAT, etc. and it still gets spyware/adware/crap on it. So I have to spend time fixing it. If I could just grab the HDs, take off the important stuff, and basically make it rarely used... I would. And I can do that if I can get my parents to get the new Mac Mini. So suddenly I'm selling it to them.
I've long fallen victim to CS/MOH:** syndrom(looking for snipers, finding hiding places/exits) but only since I fully switched over to Linux have I become addicted to tetris(though the hexagon-based one). What' worrying for me is that when I get bored I start playing the game... in my head. Literally. I see the little blocks fall, move them around, and put them together. The little score-counter thing works too(though I doubt that I really get as high).
Dude, that was from 6 years ago. Any info in it is probably outdated and anyway, I think something new would probably have been invented. Besides, how many people would remember that exact thread and be annoyed at a new one?
I'm not sure 1984 is really obscure. And it's not like your referencing something like the catapult he gets pelted with early on, it's freaking room 101 with the rats where he finally breaks down.
Seconded. I've also found online role playing games like Nationstates to help in that you have to write out, and write out well, everything you do. You learn and are taught by your fellow gamers to be a better writer.
The one thing I'll disagree with is the newspaper bit, I'm currently part of my schools newspaper and we've been spending a lot of time learning the theory and practice of writing for a newspaper.
Um, I don't know about you guys but when I type / and the search term on Firefox I get a button that allows me to highlight all search terms on the page.
It's saltwater, odds are snow will melt upon contact anyway. Just dive right below the surface and go into power-conservation mode if you need to get away from the snow.
"Just another chance for Michael to feed us his left wing nut job viewpoint."
At times like this I'd like to point out that the evidence, and thus truth as much as we can figure it out, it agreeing with the left wing nut. So the left wing nut is right. So the left wing nut is a right(meaning correct) wing nut.
Oh come on, like you didn't internally curse his decision to work with Mordo^H^H^H^Hicrosoft when you read the headline? Yes, I'm using a cliche, but it's also fairly true, so they should at least even out.
I'm saying that a school's average test scores are useless when you restrict the type of kids who get in to those who do well on tests. I'm currently in a neighboring school(Washington-Lee) that has mediocre test scores... until you realize that over a third of the student body uses the free lunch program and is more heavily diverse than most of the schools in northern VA.
So yes, it's good that test scores are high, but that doesn't mean it's a good school.
Except for the fact that for Gore this was a one-time statement that was actually true, or as close to true as you get with politicians. Dubya's misspeaks are actually funny, and besides, Gore is pretty much out of the public life now.

Odd, I have a subscription and I got it on Saturday. Maybe it's because of location? (I'm in DC)

My guess? You guys are too.

You should come to Washington then, we import the ones that have.

And accidental deletions, children playing with the computer, physical damage to the computer, theft, intrusion, software failure
You forgot 'adults playing with the computer'.
so here was a link to the gallery of images of the final product.
You must be new here... Let's get these two out of the way.
I'm a PC/Windows user

almost all asians who are from asia use MSN and ICQ tho.
As opposed to the, say, Asians from South America?
Mine was "Someone obviously read 3001:The Final Odyssey".
Of course, they could do more with their computer/skullcaps.

I felt a disturbance in the force, as if 10 thousand nerds cried out and then were silent.

It's easy to have high SAT scores when you don't let the less intelligent into your school. You don't win, you get disqualified for cheating.
grammar-nazi != spelling-nazi
Good lord, it's in the first clause of the first sentance and they missed that it needed an S?

The better question is; Where's a list of Candian proxy servers and where can I get the Canadian version?
