There's no technical reason why you can't do this. It's just that they decided to do it the way they did. In GNUMail.app, there's an Address popup window launched from a toolbar button right on the main mailbox window.
That said, I work in a Mac shop and we get that already with Mail.app, iCal, and the Address Book, so you're right that it doesn't require tight integration.
GNUstep does this too with GNUMail.app and AddressBook.app, which come from two different developers but communicate through the Services menu.
Oh my GOD! We're talking about breasts here, man! Who cares whether they're supposed to be there or not? Take your breasts where you find them and don't ask questions. Where are your priorities?
Not really. Fascism embodies these characteristics:
Appeal to a glorious mythological past
Belief that violence is an end of itself, with the result of cleansing the human spirit and exalting mankind
Centralized autocracy
Despite the silly rhetoric, we do not have an autocracy. This is mostly fumes from wild-eyed conspiracy theories.
No one that I have heard or seen has promoted the view that violence cleanses the human spirit. Our government has, in fact, been quite timid in its military action. With the firepower and technology we have at our disposal, a true attempt at gratuitous blood-letting would leave hundreds of millions dead.
The United States has no glorious mythological past to promote. The Nazis built up a mythology of the ancient Teutonic pagan warrior-kings who rose to godlike status. The Fascisti in Italy promised a return to a Roman Empire (that never really existed). The Japanese under Tojo believed that they were reviving the glory-days of the warlords. No such historical imagery of ancient pagan warriors is in evidence here.
Yes. I'm just shocked and dismayed that (1) this was the only thread about it; and (2) that it's buried this far down in the comments. What happened to this place? Did we suddenly get an influx of professional insurance adjusters or something?
The one with the highest grade among the group will not be the High School Valedictorian when he graduates. He will lose out to a kid with an Asian background. As much as poeople would like to put a specific label on these kids, which they are, keep in mind that they are average high school students that like to learn and work hard. It was their drive to succeed and loyalty to the team and each other that enabled them to reach their victory.
Which, really, is what drives the Asian students to a high success rate.:-)
Perhaps, rather than changing laws to give illegal immigrants rights as citizens, we should be looking at what is preventing them from coming here legally, and consider changing the requirements if they are inappropriate.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I haven't heard anybody else making this obvious suggestion. The Democrats want to push even more illegal social spending and the President wants to enact what amounts to amnesty.
Streamlining the immigration process is a very reasonable idea that nobody wants to consider. I suspect it's because the government employees in the INS are unionized and don't want to see a simpler process (read: fewer jobs) for getting good people into this country.
It was even easier on NeXTSTEP, since you didn't have to move at all to get to the menu. It was commonly hidden off-screen and brought up wherever you happened to be at the moment by a simple mouse click.
Churchill entered the public restroom in Whitehall one day, saw a member of the Labor Party at a urinal, and went to the urinal on the far side of the room. The Labor MP grinned and said, "a little standoffish today, hmm Winston?" Churchill replied: "It's because every time you see something really big, you try to nationalize it!"
Then Lexus will appear on the main view screen, the science officer will analyze it to be an early 21st century craft which ran on fossil fuels and contains a crew of accountants.
It has for some time been obvious to me that government bureaucracy is the *real* welfare program in America. It's a jobs program for people who can't get work in the private sector.
I was disappointed by the comments earlier this week, doubly so as I'm an Australian. I thought my countrymen would have smarter things to say about Linux...
Why? Just because you have nationality in common? I'm American and half of my countrymen are frothing idiots. I won't tell you which ones--just pick the ones you like least and let them be "it." I'm not that interested in letting you know where I stand. You'd probably hate me for it anyway.
Attacking the critical infrastucture of a government is an act of war. The EU can't respond with physical violence
Which is why I can't respect them or even accept that they are a legitimate government. They would be irresponsible in such a situation. The purpose of government is the defense of the people. They would become as illegitimate in shirking their duties as Louis XVI.
Actually, you should read Stallman's essays on this because he fully explains this very point. Stallman is much more thoughtful and persuasive when you actually read his stuff rather than listening to Slashbots.:-)
Well, there's always the possibility that you're dealing with two different sets of people. Not everyone agrees on Copyright issues. Not even everybody on Slashdot agrees. In fact, I'd say there are probably a *lot* of different opinions expressed in any given story.
Dualism was not "tossed out the window." Many people chose not to believe it because (1) they didn't like the philosophical consequences; and (2) it didn't fit the prevailing theory of a consistent universe: the universe is a big machine with built-in rules. But that theory itself was never proven, only assumed. There is no proof either way. It all stems from first principles.
It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the headline and it was the reason I opened the story. I'm just disappointed that I had to get 1/3 of the way through before seeing a comment about it.

Stop spying on me, you sick bastard!

Yeah, disarray.
Which, really, is what drives the Asian students to a high success rate. :-)

Will they sing the Accountancy Shanty?
Most evil empires do. That's how they continue to be empires.
Maybe they work for Paul Anka. He wants "full value on his money." Please note that he also "slices like a fucking hammer."
It has for some time been obvious to me that government bureaucracy is the *real* welfare program in America. It's a jobs program for people who can't get work in the private sector.
That works. Though I generally extrapolate from the group that does.

So old world pride will finally be useful for something? *ducks*

Um, you do realize that you still have to pay Apple for these songs, right? It's just a modification of the file once you download it.
(Though I still disagree with him politically.)

That's par for the course.
